I bought the Dean Edge 09 Bass w/ Mahogany finish. This guitar is surprising nice. The sound is clean and mellow, no distortion of any kind. The strings are fine, this came with roundwound strings which are great for playing louder and heavier, but have more finger noise when you slide your fingers. I plan to change over to groundwound or flatwound for lower tone and less finger noise. The guitar is sturdy and modest looking, just clean. The tuner knobs are as basic as they come, just volume and tone, but they work well. There were No guitar strap or pick included, but it does come with the cord. On the back of the guitar, the small (tuner knob)cover plate is cheap plastic with protective film and the screws holding it on are not flush mount. This was the only unsightly thing about the guitar, but it's not really noticeable and easy to remedy. Some stained balsa wood or a mahogany craft plank would look much better. The neck appears to be maple and mahogany, it has mother of pearl inlays. The guitar looks and sounds great and has gotten a lot of good compliments from my friends. The only other thing is, it has no guitar case or stand. It comes in a cardboard "Dean" box, which is shipped in another huge Amazon cardboard box, which arrived in perfect condition.

I use this for home recordings. I'm no bass player so I don't need a high performance instrument. It fills in the bottom end of my songs nicely. It will also be handed down to the kids for them to learn on if they so choose. I did need to adjust the truss rod when I got it. There are videos on youtube that show you how. I read some reviews critiquing for string buzz, but if you read the directions and adjust accordingly it plays and sounds great. If you don't have the capacity or patience to figure that out I'm afraid any instrument is probably wasted on you anyway. The one thing I can say negatively is that this is almost too cheap and the workers putting this together have to be grossly underpaid, but since I'm an American I'm oblivious and ignorant to this so I can't say for sure. Great buy for beginners and intermediate players and I would have to say it would make a solid affordable backup to have on hand for any level of player.

Good beginners bass. Got this for christmas about a year ago. I have only had one problem, the quarter in. jack came loose and a wire tore so I soldered it and it worked for about a month then it went again. When I went in to take a look two wires had disconnected from the pots so I just went down to radio shack and bought a pack of 3 1/4 in. jacks, changed the wiring to the pick-up and pots and it has worked fine ever since. Good tone. I like to use it for slapping but hammer-ons are a bit tough on it. Also having the single soap bar type pickup right in the center gets in the way a bit when slapping but other than that a good bass. Nice for slower and calmer music but it is also real good for heavy metal.Nice for begginers but if not buying for a begginer then I would suggest looking elsewear.

You will get what you pay for with this bass. I bought this bass specifically to add piccolo strings for recording ambient guitar sounds. It works for that. Food sound. Nice feel. Cheap construction but it serves it purpose. There were a few issues out of the box. The setup was terrible. The volume knob wouldn't work. Thereis still some grounding issues. Still, these things were easy fixes. Since most of my uses for this bass are for ambient guitar sounds the grounding issue creates a great effect. This is a great first bass and great accessory instrument for the home studio. It is worth the money you pay for it.I don't regret purchasing this bass and I would recommend it to fellow bassists looking for cheap entry level bass.

I was expecting a bad, cheap bass. I've been playing nearly 17 years on a Fender Jazz and this $139 bass gives the Fender a nice challenge. It shipped fine. Needs a standard tune up and restring. I like the thin neck. Great for metal. I am going to buy another one or the 10a. If you don't know how to properly set up your bass, look it up on YouTube. If you need to file the nuts, those are the only pricy tools. Everything else needed is under $40.Very shocked at the quality next to a Fender. Fender still wins in the long run, but this a little beast of bass guitar. I think I'm switching over to a nice quality and low cost bass for a bit. Lighter weight and a nice bright tone. Now,what color should I choose for my next E09M?

The only reason I take a star is because when it arrived the pickup was installed incorrectly. The screws on one side were sticking very far out and that side was much lower than the other. I was able to fix it in a few minutes with just a screw driver, but their quality control missing such an obvious defect concerns me. The finish on the bass itself is much lighter than pictured (similar to the color of unfinished wood). It still looks great, but something to be aware of. Otherwise this bass is perfectly functional, and perfect for a beginner.

This is, simply put, the highest quality beginners bass you could get. Its much nicer looking in person. Its beautiful, simple, sleek, and very well built. The finish on the wood is JUST a finish which means its not gonna scratch up if it bumps into something like the typical paint on a guitar or bass. The overall sound from this thing is great. At this point it really depends more on what amp you're using to define the sound.

I was amazed on how the bass actually got to my house in one pice! It looked like someone tried to open the package and squished i with other boxes. i thought at least it would be securely wrapped with some bubble rap. But besides that its a beautiful bass and looks even better with black strings.Sound quality is good, and grate for beginner.

For the incredible low price it is of high quality, the neck has a nice feel to it and the bass sounds good through an Ampeg combo amp.Great for beginners or a guy like me that hasn't played for years and wanted to get into something for just fooling around. I have gigged in the past with far worse basses that cost a heck of slot more

For the price this bass really shocked me. Its a very clean sounding bass and i recommend it to anyone beginner, or intermediate, as anyone who claims they are professional could probably afford something nicer. If you are on a budget and want to start playing bass, or add a cheap but well made bass to your collection go for this one.

This guitar is still going strong. This is my go to bass when I want to experiment with new techniques and anything. However, the knobs have lost their resistance so now they just spin without stopping, but has not affected playing or performance. I love this guitar and recommend it to anyone that wants to learn bass.

I'm a neophyte to stringed instruments, having spent most of my life as a flute/sax player. This bass feels good, seems to have a decent tone, and is ( allowing for my finger callouses to develop ) easy playing. Definitely a good beginners instrument. Customer service from the seller is great!

This guitar was so inexpensive that I was a little worried about it when I ordered it. Now that I've had a chance to play it in a live performance setting I'm thrilled. It sounds great, and it plays comfortably. Best choice I've made in a long time.

This was the second bass guitar I ever purchased and it sounded so good! The only thing that I didn’t like is that the wires on the inside must have somehow got messed up and stopped work so I had to get them fixed. Sounds good, feels good.

Still own it! Had some guys at a guitar shop do some reconstruction on the whole thing cause the top two strings got really buzzy, now it plays near perfectly. First bass I ever bought and I love it. Not much of a musician though.
