Bought my iMac March 2013 from Apple Store and configured all extras apart from additional memory because the store price from Apple was extortionate and I had researched on YouTube how easy it is to replace the memory in the iMac 27" model (unlike the 21.5" model). I ordered 2 kits totalling 32GB (4x8GB) because the iMac 27" has 4 memory slots. They arrived promptly and were well packed in sturdy plastic cartons so the modules were well protected and a little tricky to get out but if you pop them out from behind you won't damage them - just make sure you discharge any static and always hold the modules on the edge.I suggest leaving the modules in their packaging until you have removed the memory module cover on the back of the iMac.To install the memory modules you need to lay your iMac screen down on a flat surface (use a soft cloth to protect from scratches - an empty pillow case works just fine). Remove the power cord to get access to the little push button to release the memory module cover. I used the flat end of a screwdriver to push this in hard in order to pop off the cover. Once opened there are two catches holding the existing memory in place (in my case 2x4GB). Pull these catches towards you to release the grip on the modules. Carefully pull out the modules one at a time. Remove all modules before installing any new ones. Now install the new memory modules using the reverse technique. There is a little notch along the edge with the pins so it's impossible to install them the right way around. If you buy more than 1 pack I would recommend you install each pack together i.e. don't mix them in the slots. When installing my modules I found they were a really tight fit and I had to force them in. This could be down to the positioning of the notch above. It seemed easier when installing the modules in the slots from which I took out the old memory. Perhaps the engineer at Apple had the same problem and once forced in initially they become easier to install. I did try to pull them out again but they seemed to be stuck fast...so didn't try again on the basis I've maxed out the memory so don't intend to remove.Push the leaver forward once all modules are installed - it won't click into place if you have not properly installed the memory per the above. Clip the memory cover back in place and power on your iMac. My beeped repeatedly first time suggesting the modules were not fully clipped in. I opened back up and push each modules firmly back in their slots, replaced the cover and booted up again - BINGO all 32GB recognised and has been running sweet every since with no reported system issues and boy coupled with the Fusion drive I spec'd this machine now flies.I looked at several different supplier included non-Apple certified modules from Crucial but decided that if I am going to spend £150+ on memory for an iMac that cost significantly more then it's worth paying the extra to have the reassurance that Apple engineers have certified these memory modules for iMac. It was a toss up between Corsair and Crucial but on the whole I felt that more customers provided positive review comments for Crucial (not just the star rating) and besides when I upgrade my MacBook Pro memory recently I purchased Crucial and have not had any issues with them for over 18 months now.As others have stated on reviews before if you already have 16GB then the performance uplift from 16 to 32 will not be as noticeable as the jump from 8 to 32 obviously but improving your iMac memory by 50% has to be a wise investment given that memory is one of the most cost effective and only ways of upgrading an iMac 27".For gamers out there the main reason I pushed memory up to 32GB was to run some of the triple A games at high frame rates. I spec'd the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB and this machine now runs Gotham City, COD Black Ops etc flawlessly. Running video editing and ripping software along with multiple other office applications concurrently now is a breeze with no noticeable slow down - and I multi-task heavily with workflow on my iMac.

If you are looking to install RAM that will GENUINELY work for your Apple products get Crucial every time. I am writing this review to help anyone who is sitting on the fence after reading reviews about problems so I will explain to help you out. This works 100% Please say this review was helpful if it worked for you. In fact I know it does work, I've been where you are now and thats why I took the time and effort to put this together and links. Please do this as I am not after popularity, it will help this review rise ranks so more people can use this guide for painless RAM installation!Encourage charity lets get installing!Firstly go here from Apples site (choose your country code as appropriate if not in UK)e.g. apple.com/ie apple.com/nz[...]if this link no longer works then type this in the Apple search bar How to remove or install memoryactually I used iMac: How to remove or install memory so put in your RAM product e.g. if its a Macbook search for Macbook: How to remove or install memoryHeres what it shows me for my IMAC LATE 2013 just bought 2 weeks ago from the new releases.Number of memory slots 4 *SLOTS AVAILABLE TO YOUBase memory 8 GB *STARTING MEMORYMaximum memory 32 GB *MAXIMUM MEMORYNote: Memory replacement on the iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012) and iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013) is not user-removable and must be done by an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. *NOTE 27INCH IMACS ARE FAR EASIER TO INSTALL AND YOU PRESS A BUTTON TO OPEN THE RAM COMPARTMENT - AT THE BACK ABOVE THE POWER PLUGUse Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules (SO-DIMM) that meet all of these criteria:iMac (Mid 2012)PC3-12800UnbufferedNonparity204-pin1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM* SO THIS ALSO TELLS ME THAT THE RAM LATE 2013 IS ACTUALLY THE SAME RAM FROM 2012.THIS CRUCIAL RAM MEETS ALL THE CRITERIA THERE ARE OTHER CRITERIA TOO SUCH AS VOLTAGE 1.35 and CL 13 etc. CL 9 etc. CL just refers to memory speed, the lower the better. You do not need to look for this, its nice to know but compatible ram is compatible ram - so stick with Crucial brand. It works!Heres how I upgraded my LATE IMAC 2013 if you want to see this this youtube is really handy as it explains what I am writing below.video[...]in pictures:[...]After you BUY the crucial ram then just open your slot and the back by pressing the button above the power cord. (PS SWITCH OFF MAC FIRST, WAIT A MINUTE AFTER DOING THIS TO ALLOW PARTS TO COOL DOWN) Squeeze the two buttons and pull outwards the ram slot.Take out the 2 4GB rams you have (making up the 8GB) REMEMBER THE RAM SLOTS YOU TOOK OUT THE RAM FROM AND REPLACE THOSE 2 SLOTS WITH NEW RAM! This is because they are the allocated PRIMARY slots so the largest RAM amount should go there first! For me this is RELEVANT...as my ram was 8GB each, if your adding 4GB each you do not need to do this as your ram newly bought RAM is not higher that your primary RAM. Only do this if your newly bought RAM is higher than your primary ram.Im writing this is caps, but don't think anything bad will happen if you don't do this - nothing bad happens, it just makes it more efficient for you. When you place the ram inside before you do so make sure you have the GAP on the correct side of the slot. EG Look at the pictures in the link (macworld) the gap in the boxed Crucial ram pic is on the LEFT...whatever way it is in your slot, make sure you align it correctly. Make sure you are placing the ram correctly and not at an angle too. When you push the ram in Push it in FURTHER till you here a CLICK noise to confirm its in.AND THATS IT!!! IM A NOOB THIS IS MY FIRST MAC and FIRST RAM INSTALLATION - and it was easy! so you too can do it.If you want to know more about Ram timings then look here...its more academic, if you just match the apple spec from your ram page then thats enough[...]OK so there you go and your welcome!

This memory is listed as "Mac compatible" which I figured is just a marketing blurb and all of its specs matched what I required for my (Windows) laptop, so I figured I'd take the chance and buy these after my first attempt failed with a different brand of RAM, some time prior.I was skittish about booting with a different amount of RAM from hibernation, so I shut it down completely and performed the replacement. Pretty standard stuff. As another reviewer has mentioned, be sure to wait a while for the initial boot after RAM installation to complete!! It can take a while, your system/the RAM is not necessarily broken. Maybe have a snack or take a peek at the television or phone for a few minutes while your computer does its thing. After the initial lengthy boot, you will have your normal boot times back again on subsequent boots/restarts.Anyway, this new RAM works great! I finally have enough memory to accommodate all of the programs I like to run simultaneously, such as monstrous browser sessions that can easily eat 2GB of memory a piece. My system would slow to a crawl on 4GB, as it simply wasn't enough. Now it's perpetually responsive. As with all RAM upgrades though, you'll only notice a particular performance increase if you didn't have enough to start with, but you could always use the spare memory as a RAM drive for ludicrous temporary storage speeds. For determining compatibility, it can be slightly complicated. If you look up your system's processor/motherboard on the manufacturer's site, it can usually give you precise details on what type of memory - and how much of it - is compatible with your system. It's what led me to this product in particular. I think Crucial also has a web-app that can help you determine compatibility by providing it with your computer's model.Overall, very pleased with this purchase.

I have always been a fan of Crucial Memory as they are always of high quality! After doing research on what RAM specs I would need for my 15inch MacBook Pro, I decided to buy from Crucial and as usual they did not disappoint! High speeds and of great build quality!I bought it for my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) - Model Identifier (MacBook Pro 9,1) to go with one of the 2GB RAM sticks already in the machine! Now I have 10GB of RAM and has brought a new life into my 6 year old machine!Only thing with Macs is that I would make sure that you get the right RAM for your machine. Crucial offer RAM sticks for every Mac on the market (That has physical RAM Slots) so make sure you buy the right one!Check the model number of the RAM needed as well as the clock speeds! Can check on the OWC repair website as they tell you the RAM you need to get for the machine you have!Simply take off the back cover of the Mac after removing all the screws holding it into place, then simply take out an existing RAM stick (if there is no space - mine had two 2GB sticks in it so I had to remove one) and then slot in your new Crucial RAM! It is so simple and works right out of the box!I have heard from some people that it took over 10 minutes to boot for the first time after initially putting in the new RAM stick, however I didnt have that problem and was able to boot pretty much straight away. If you do have this issue, it is common and just let it load as it might take a little while, however that will only happen the first time you install the new RAM stick and not every time you boot as the Mac is just checking the hardware of the machine.Totally recommend Crucial over any other RAM brand I have ever used! Cheaper than many competitors, however still with an amazing build quality and performance!

I wanted to upgrade the Ram on my 27" iMac as it's performance was beginning to deteriorate a little. Initially I had attempted to save money by buying cheaper brands of RAM modules but this proved unsuccessful. The first pair of modules that I bought, from a high street retailer, were not the right spec's even though I had been assured that they were (I'd not taken my glasses with me so was reliant upon the salespersons advice), so these needed to be returned. The second pair that I had purchased were remarkably cheap and would have been great if they had worked but one of the two modules was faulty so these were also returned.Eventually I saw sense and ordered this pair of Crucial RAM modules (which exactly match the pair that I had already installed).Delivery was very quick, the modules were well packed and there was no problem with installation (the cheap modules had been a very tight fit into the RAM slots). I ran various tests on the modules once they were installed, including the Apple Hardware test and Memtest and they passed with flying colours. Going by the previous pair of Crucial modules that I installed just over 3 years ago I do not anticipate any problems arising. I can also rest easy in the knowledge that Crucial offer a lifetime warranty on their memory modules - unlike some manufacturers. So, whilst I'm sure that many people will have had success with buying and installing other brands of memory modules into their computers, from now on I will only be using Crucial. This is based on the fact that (touch wood), I have not experienced any problems with their products to date and, when it comes to price, they might not be the cheapest on the market but with modern technology you do appear to get exactly what you pay for.

I bought two lots of these to beef up my late 2013 27inch iMac i7 to 32GB. They worked perfectly after waiting for the hidden POST to complete. When you first plug in an iMac it goes through a hardware test cycle, keeping a record of any changes. When adding 32GB it took about two minutes for the iMac to check the RAM before it would turn on. I have seem many people complain their iMac did not work after upgrading the RAM; it was more likely they did not patiently wait for the system to finish updating its spec details. So here is the sequence whenever you change RAM on an iMac, even if downgrading to use the original RAM!1. Disconnect power.2. Open door to memory slots and pull down the memory holder as shown in the iMac manuals.3.Remove existing RAM, carefully noting which slots are populated AND the module orientation.4. Add new RAM to either the same slots OR all slots if you are adding four modules, carefully checking each module is properly oriented and fully seated. Unlike PC's, iMac memory slots are somewhat 'sloppy' - don't expect a satisfying click.5. Push the memory holder back in to place. If it won't go back properly, check the modules are correctly oriented and fully seated. 6. Close door to memory slots.7. Plug in iMac and make sure mains power is on, but *DO NOT* press the power button.8. Go make a cup of tea. (Important)9. Come back and click the power button.10. Bong......In future the iMac should not need as long to start after plugging in to the mains; only the first time is the issue.I hope this helps someone.

The first thing which I would love to write is it's truly good investment than buying low spec windows machine. THE MOST IMPORTANT, it certainly works with windows. Being, a computer engineer myself and now again graduate student at UCD. Please don't be sceptical that it won't work with windows. As per computer Architecture, it makes no sense why it won't work?First thing first, if you have made your mind to buy it. You should not call for Technical support and stay in the queue because they don't know themselves what they are talking about. The simple way to figure it out; just know what motherboard your machine has? If its an Intel one, then you will know everything within a second. All you have to do, look for system properties and find your motherboard name on Google; follow the Intel website detailed specification.Next, know the exact frequency and type of RAM(DD3/4) as that's most important while considering any type of upgrade for your machine. Once done with that, go ahead order it.The last tip, if your computer is too old. Consider changing your old mechanical HDD to SSD. This will still cost less, you can still live with your computer for 3 more years. Later, have the best machine with high-end spec at low cost.Hope this helps!

So I bought this ram so that I could upgrade my laptop from 8GB to 16GB. I didn't realise until after I placed the order that these were supposedly meant for Macs. Anyway, I decided not to cancel the order and should the ram not work in my Windows Laptop, I would send it back. I'm pleased to say I will not be requesting a return as it works just fine, so for people that are wondering if this is only compatible with Mac, it's not, it's also compatible with other laptops.I noticed that after installing this ram, my laptop takes a significant amount of time longer to post, although this doesn't cause too many problems for me, I wish my laptop would post as fast as it did before. That said,I have noticed slight performance improvements alongside my recent upgrade to an SSD from a standard hard drive. The 1600MT/s means the ram performs as if it is 1600MHz, but at a significantly lower frequency so there's barely any risk of frying your motherboard or CPU. It's like having a dual core processor with 4 threads, the processor then performs as if it is a quad core, it's a very similar principle.I've really beefed up my 2015 laptop and I'm happy with my purchase.

I am posting this review on the same day when i received my product from Amazon!I have been struggling for the past 2 years with a slow performing 4GB RAM early 2011 MacBook Pro (15 inch). The space almost was up and I had to move my photo library to an external drive freeing up 300 GB of space on my 500 GB factory HDD. Things started to look a lot better in terms of performance for the usual browsing, watching movies etc. But when I started to use Adobe products like Lightroom CC etc., again my MacBook started to become slow and that's where i decided to give a try of upgrading the RAM.Boy wasn't that exactly i needed!! I immediately ordered the Crucial 16GB RAM and same day delivery (thanks to Amazon prime)and i followed the required steps to replace the old RAM with new 16 GB RAM. Now my MacBook is not a slug anymore but a Racing Horse :DNext step - Have to see if i can upgrade my HDD to an SSD.... probably i can convert this Racing Horse to a Steam Engine ;)Will keep noting the performance of the new 16GB RAM and update my review if i see any changes in the future. Hopefully, it helps to other Early MacBook Pro users like me :)ThanksJohn.

Our iMac is a late 2009 model and was constantly getting the spinning coloured wheel and freezing after updating to OSX el Capitan (was quite slow on Yosemite too). I replaced the original 4Gb of Ram with 4 x 4Gb Crucial memory. Its very easy to do you can find instructions on the mac, just click the apple icon top left and then about/memory or via crucial or just go on you tube and look at any number of videos. Our mac is now light lightning fast again opening up multiple windows and dealing with heavy tasks with ease. Its like having a brand new computer again.I have 'clean my mac 3' software installed (would recommend this also to keep your mac running fast).Typically I am using 50 to 60% of this 16Gb so there is still headroom for the next few OS upgrades I hope. One thing to note is that to get the cards to latch in the slots takes quite a bit of pressure. It took me a couple of tries before I picked up the courage to push firmly enough to get them to seat properly. Its still avery straightforward installation though.Has made the world of difference to our 6+year old iMac which is great value I think for around £75.

I was emailed through Amazon and asked to write a review by KOMPBAY who supplied them through Amazon and almost did until I realised that the link they provided was to review their own brand which I did not purchase!Because -I did a lot of research before purchasing these for my Late 2008 Aluminium (13 inch) 5.1 Macbook. Apple stated that it would only support 4GB RAM but as I understand it, my research indicated that as Crucial and OWC build to the exact Apple specifications, inserting only from one of these two manufacturers would ensure system stability. This is providing that the Mac is running boot ROM version MB51.007D.B03.Some of the other leading brands produce these but with a widertolerance which is sufficient for PC's but not Macs and maybe Komputerbay sticks are Crucial but with their own labelling. I don't know.I Inserted these Crucial sticks without problem and immediately noticed much improved performance and 2 months down the line I still have a very stable much improved 'old' Macbook. Highly recommend.

My Mac Mini REALLY matters to me; it's the principal means of doing my work and it's the source of most of my entertainment and my communication with friends around the world. When dealing with things that matter I believe in always getting the best I can afford; I find it pays huge dividends. That's not necessarily the most expensive, but the best.So with this RAM upgrade. I read reviews carefully and observed that the spec matched or exceeded that of Apple's own (overpriced) product in every respect. The Crucial Ram was by no means the cheapest, but it was the best reviewed so I bought it.Never a moment's regret. It arrived on time,I fitted it in just under six minutes power down to power up - and half of that was spent uncoupling and recoupling cables - and it worked. Four gig went to sixteen gig just as simply as that, and the difference in performance is marked.Been running some weeks now and no problems at all. The best is always worth it. Which is why I bought Apple in the first place, of course.

I bought this RAM from Kompbay a couple of weeks ago and was forced to return it due to one of the modules being faulty. It was disappointing to have to return them as I was looking forward to seeing my MacBook Pro mid-2012 take off, but the service I received from Amazon regarding the refund was impeccable. I can never fault them on their customer service and in this scenario they were fantastic by repaying my money within 12 hours of receiving the returned modules. When I came back to Amazon to re-buy the RAM, I was a little cautious of receiving a faulty module again so decided to buy the same product but from a different seller. This appears to have been a wise choice as the package arrived within 3 days and my MacBook is now lightning fast: a 30-60 second opening time for Adobe Photoshop CS6 has now been reduced to 3-5 seconds and the standard Apple programmes like Safari and Calendar open almost instantaneously. I am more than happy with this product and cannot recommend it enough!

I have had my laptop for about 7/8 years and 8GB ram and macOS Sierra were just not cutting it anymore. Feels like I have a new laptop (especially with the update to macOS Catalina). It's a lot faster and nothing lags anymore. Quick 5 minute install if you've done it before and very easy if you haven't, trust me.I considered buying a new laptop as working from home now means I need to squeeze a lot out of this old boy but the RAM has really done it's job and I think I can use this for another 2/3 years or at least until the CPU gives up. Better to spend £80 than £2500 on a new laptop. From the pictures you'll see that - I have a mid 2012 MBP with 2.5GHz Dual core i5,Samsung 840 Pro SSD as the main HDD and have replaced my optical drive with an additional HDD. Now running a "pseudo-super" MBP (the bottleneck is now my cpu lol)If you have a 2013 MBP please try and do as much upgrades as you can! With each one it feels like you actually bought a new laptop.

So far, I am very happy with this product.I've replaced the 4GB of memory on my Macbook Pro 13" Mid-2009 with this product. Before purchasing this, I had done everything I could to make it faster (cleared caches, moved all files to an external hard drive, updated all software, moved iTunes and Photos files to hard drive, removed all email logs, removed useless software, installed Memory Clean 2 and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to clear any unnecessary files and debug the Macbook). The Macbook was still slow, sluggish and couldn't multitask (ie run Safari and Spotify at the same time). Now I've installed this product, I can run Safari to look things up and write emails, run Logic Pro to write music or Xcode to write codes, and have Spotify running in the background - it all runs smoothly at the same time and I'm really happy with the results.I'd recommend this to anyone who's experiencing a slow Macbook Pro and wants to run demanding software.
