This memory is listed as "Mac compatible" which I figured is just a marketing blurb and all of its specs matched what I required for my (Windows) laptop, so I figured I'd take the chance and buy these after my first attempt failed with a different brand of RAM, some time prior.I was skittish about booting with a different amount of RAM from hibernation, so I shut it down completely and performed the replacement. Pretty standard stuff. As another reviewer has mentioned, be sure to wait a while for the initial boot after RAM installation to complete!! It can take a while, your system/the RAM is not necessarily broken. Maybe have a snack or take a peek at the television or phone for a few minutes while your computer does its thing. After the initial lengthy boot, you will have your normal boot times back again on subsequent boots/restarts.Anyway, this new RAM works great! I finally have enough memory to accommodate all of the programs I like to run simultaneously, such as monstrous browser sessions that can easily eat 2GB of memory a piece. My system would slow to a crawl on 4GB, as it simply wasn't enough. Now it's perpetually responsive. As with all RAM upgrades though, you'll only notice a particular performance increase if you didn't have enough to start with, but you could always use the spare memory as a RAM drive for ludicrous temporary storage speeds. For determining compatibility, it can be slightly complicated. If you look up your system's processor/motherboard on the manufacturer's site, it can usually give you precise details on what type of memory - and how much of it - is compatible with your system. It's what led me to this product in particular. I think Crucial also has a web-app that can help you determine compatibility by providing it with your computer's model.Overall, very pleased with this purchase.

I have always been a fan of Crucial Memory as they are always of high quality! After doing research on what RAM specs I would need for my 15inch MacBook Pro, I decided to buy from Crucial and as usual they did not disappoint! High speeds and of great build quality!I bought it for my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) - Model Identifier (MacBook Pro 9,1) to go with one of the 2GB RAM sticks already in the machine! Now I have 10GB of RAM and has brought a new life into my 6 year old machine!Only thing with Macs is that I would make sure that you get the right RAM for your machine. Crucial offer RAM sticks for every Mac on the market (That has physical RAM Slots) so make sure you buy the right one!Check the model number of the RAM needed as well as the clock speeds! Can check on the OWC repair website as they tell you the RAM you need to get for the machine you have!Simply take off the back cover of the Mac after removing all the screws holding it into place, then simply take out an existing RAM stick (if there is no space - mine had two 2GB sticks in it so I had to remove one) and then slot in your new Crucial RAM! It is so simple and works right out of the box!I have heard from some people that it took over 10 minutes to boot for the first time after initially putting in the new RAM stick, however I didnt have that problem and was able to boot pretty much straight away. If you do have this issue, it is common and just let it load as it might take a little while, however that will only happen the first time you install the new RAM stick and not every time you boot as the Mac is just checking the hardware of the machine.Totally recommend Crucial over any other RAM brand I have ever used! Cheaper than many competitors, however still with an amazing build quality and performance!

I wanted to upgrade the Ram on my 27" iMac as it's performance was beginning to deteriorate a little. Initially I had attempted to save money by buying cheaper brands of RAM modules but this proved unsuccessful. The first pair of modules that I bought, from a high street retailer, were not the right spec's even though I had been assured that they were (I'd not taken my glasses with me so was reliant upon the salespersons advice), so these needed to be returned. The second pair that I had purchased were remarkably cheap and would have been great if they had worked but one of the two modules was faulty so these were also returned.Eventually I saw sense and ordered this pair of Crucial RAM modules (which exactly match the pair that I had already installed).Delivery was very quick, the modules were well packed and there was no problem with installation (the cheap modules had been a very tight fit into the RAM slots). I ran various tests on the modules once they were installed, including the Apple Hardware test and Memtest and they passed with flying colours. Going by the previous pair of Crucial modules that I installed just over 3 years ago I do not anticipate any problems arising. I can also rest easy in the knowledge that Crucial offer a lifetime warranty on their memory modules - unlike some manufacturers. So, whilst I'm sure that many people will have had success with buying and installing other brands of memory modules into their computers, from now on I will only be using Crucial. This is based on the fact that (touch wood), I have not experienced any problems with their products to date and, when it comes to price, they might not be the cheapest on the market but with modern technology you do appear to get exactly what you pay for.

I bought two lots of these to beef up my late 2013 27inch iMac i7 to 32GB. They worked perfectly after waiting for the hidden POST to complete. When you first plug in an iMac it goes through a hardware test cycle, keeping a record of any changes. When adding 32GB it took about two minutes for the iMac to check the RAM before it would turn on. I have seem many people complain their iMac did not work after upgrading the RAM; it was more likely they did not patiently wait for the system to finish updating its spec details. So here is the sequence whenever you change RAM on an iMac, even if downgrading to use the original RAM!1. Disconnect power.2. Open door to memory slots and pull down the memory holder as shown in the iMac manuals.3.Remove existing RAM, carefully noting which slots are populated AND the module orientation.4. Add new RAM to either the same slots OR all slots if you are adding four modules, carefully checking each module is properly oriented and fully seated. Unlike PC's, iMac memory slots are somewhat 'sloppy' - don't expect a satisfying click.5. Push the memory holder back in to place. If it won't go back properly, check the modules are correctly oriented and fully seated. 6. Close door to memory slots.7. Plug in iMac and make sure mains power is on, but *DO NOT* press the power button.8. Go make a cup of tea. (Important)9. Come back and click the power button.10. Bong......In future the iMac should not need as long to start after plugging in to the mains; only the first time is the issue.I hope this helps someone.

The first thing which I would love to write is it's truly good investment than buying low spec windows machine. THE MOST IMPORTANT, it certainly works with windows. Being, a computer engineer myself and now again graduate student at UCD. Please don't be sceptical that it won't work with windows. As per computer Architecture, it makes no sense why it won't work?First thing first, if you have made your mind to buy it. You should not call for Technical support and stay in the queue because they don't know themselves what they are talking about. The simple way to figure it out; just know what motherboard your machine has? If its an Intel one, then you will know everything within a second. All you have to do, look for system properties and find your motherboard name on Google; follow the Intel website detailed specification.Next, know the exact frequency and type of RAM(DD3/4) as that's most important while considering any type of upgrade for your machine. Once done with that, go ahead order it.The last tip, if your computer is too old. Consider changing your old mechanical HDD to SSD. This will still cost less, you can still live with your computer for 3 more years. Later, have the best machine with high-end spec at low cost.Hope this helps!

So I bought this ram so that I could upgrade my laptop from 8GB to 16GB. I didn't realise until after I placed the order that these were supposedly meant for Macs. Anyway, I decided not to cancel the order and should the ram not work in my Windows Laptop, I would send it back. I'm pleased to say I will not be requesting a return as it works just fine, so for people that are wondering if this is only compatible with Mac, it's not, it's also compatible with other laptops.I noticed that after installing this ram, my laptop takes a significant amount of time longer to post, although this doesn't cause too many problems for me, I wish my laptop would post as fast as it did before. That said,I have noticed slight performance improvements alongside my recent upgrade to an SSD from a standard hard drive. The 1600MT/s means the ram performs as if it is 1600MHz, but at a significantly lower frequency so there's barely any risk of frying your motherboard or CPU. It's like having a dual core processor with 4 threads, the processor then performs as if it is a quad core, it's a very similar principle.I've really beefed up my 2015 laptop and I'm happy with my purchase.

I am posting this review on the same day when i received my product from Amazon!I have been struggling for the past 2 years with a slow performing 4GB RAM early 2011 MacBook Pro (15 inch). The space almost was up and I had to move my photo library to an external drive freeing up 300 GB of space on my 500 GB factory HDD. Things started to look a lot better in terms of performance for the usual browsing, watching movies etc. But when I started to use Adobe products like Lightroom CC etc., again my MacBook started to become slow and that's where i decided to give a try of upgrading the RAM.Boy wasn't that exactly i needed!! I immediately ordered the Crucial 16GB RAM and same day delivery (thanks to Amazon prime)and i followed the required steps to replace the old RAM with new 16 GB RAM. Now my MacBook is not a slug anymore but a Racing Horse :DNext step - Have to see if i can upgrade my HDD to an SSD.... probably i can convert this Racing Horse to a Steam Engine ;)Will keep noting the performance of the new 16GB RAM and update my review if i see any changes in the future. Hopefully, it helps to other Early MacBook Pro users like me :)ThanksJohn.

I purchased this 16gb kit from crucial as it was on sale and my 2012 mac mini was in need of an upgrade from its stock 4gb.Delivery was fast as always with prime and it arrived perfectly sound in a cardboard envelope. Inside the packaging there is not a lot going on, basically just the 2 8gb dimms. As far as installation goes thats going to heavily depend now which mac you have and from what year. Most models before 2012 are straight forward and easy to do (even tool-less with the 2012 mac mini) but you'll have to do your own research on your model. In my case I installed it in about 2 minutes and upon initial boot everything was read straight away and that was it!16gb for most people is probablyway more than you need and if you're a casual user I would not suggest spending the extra money over an 8gb kit - like I said I only bought this kit because it was on sale. If you are questioning how much ram you need there are many online guides and apps (in the app store) that tell you how much memory you use at any given time.Crucial are pretty much always the way to go when it comes to Mac upgrades and this kit is no exception!

I was emailed through Amazon and asked to write a review by KOMPBAY who supplied them through Amazon and almost did until I realised that the link they provided was to review their own brand which I did not purchase!Because -I did a lot of research before purchasing these for my Late 2008 Aluminium (13 inch) 5.1 Macbook. Apple stated that it would only support 4GB RAM but as I understand it, my research indicated that as Crucial and OWC build to the exact Apple specifications, inserting only from one of these two manufacturers would ensure system stability. This is providing that the Mac is running boot ROM version MB51.007D.B03.Some of the other leading brands produce these but with a widertolerance which is sufficient for PC's but not Macs and maybe Komputerbay sticks are Crucial but with their own labelling. I don't know.I Inserted these Crucial sticks without problem and immediately noticed much improved performance and 2 months down the line I still have a very stable much improved 'old' Macbook. Highly recommend.

I have a 10 year old MacBook Pro that I’ve recently started using again for some research - mostly web browsing and word processing but also - critically - virtual machines. The stock 2GB (20% of which reserved for graphics) was just not cutting it.Thankfully these old MBPs are straightforward to upgrade. I checked the compatibility on Crucial’s website and ordered the part with Amazon. The upgrade is easy for anybody who can use a screwdriver and follow instructions, but this is going to vary depending on your computer. It is usually straightforward on most computers, but every now and again you’ll get a particularly awkward model. It would be worth checking the RAM upgrade procedure for your machine before buying. The RAM has been installed for about a week now and has been working great. It’s good practice to check the memory after install, but to be honest a bad module usually gives itself away pretty quickly. In terms of compatibility, reliability, and price, I don’t hesitate to buy Crucial memory.

I have had my laptop for about 7/8 years and 8GB ram and macOS Sierra were just not cutting it anymore. Feels like I have a new laptop (especially with the update to macOS Catalina). It's a lot faster and nothing lags anymore. Quick 5 minute install if you've done it before and very easy if you haven't, trust me.I considered buying a new laptop as working from home now means I need to squeeze a lot out of this old boy but the RAM has really done it's job and I think I can use this for another 2/3 years or at least until the CPU gives up. Better to spend £80 than £2500 on a new laptop. From the pictures you'll see that - I have a mid 2012 MBP with 2.5GHz Dual core i5,Samsung 840 Pro SSD as the main HDD and have replaced my optical drive with an additional HDD. Now running a "pseudo-super" MBP (the bottleneck is now my cpu lol)If you have a 2013 MBP please try and do as much upgrades as you can! With each one it feels like you actually bought a new laptop.

So far, I am very happy with this product.I've replaced the 4GB of memory on my Macbook Pro 13" Mid-2009 with this product. Before purchasing this, I had done everything I could to make it faster (cleared caches, moved all files to an external hard drive, updated all software, moved iTunes and Photos files to hard drive, removed all email logs, removed useless software, installed Memory Clean 2 and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to clear any unnecessary files and debug the Macbook). The Macbook was still slow, sluggish and couldn't multitask (ie run Safari and Spotify at the same time). Now I've installed this product, I can run Safari to look things up and write emails, run Logic Pro to write music or Xcode to write codes, and have Spotify running in the background - it all runs smoothly at the same time and I'm really happy with the results.I'd recommend this to anyone who's experiencing a slow Macbook Pro and wants to run demanding software.

This RAM upgrade has transformed my late 2012 Mac Mini in 2 minutes. I should have done this 6 months ago when the Mac started running ridiculously slowly & constantly using 99% of the 4GB of RAM. Dr Cleaner did his best to keep things moving, but couldn't get me below 86% & I was having to optimize 100 times a day! Anyway, I now have a delicious 16GB of RAM & Dr C says I'm using 30%, but forget the numbers, the important thing is that my Mac works properly again!I'm the least tech-savvy person you're likely to meet, so if you have any doubts about whether or not you're capable of doing this upgrade yourself, believe me when I say a small child could do it (not that I'm recommending anyone lets a child loose on their precious Mac!).I watched a YouTube video on what to do, & when the package arrived this morning (ordered yesterday afternoon & delivered this morning - I love Prime!), it genuinely did take me less than 2 minutes to install.

I have an Apple Mac Mini, and after downloading Yosemite operating System it was running deadly slow with my 4 GB Ram. Once i upgraded to 16GB Ram the machine is a real pleasure to use now, its fast responsive and the previous rendering problems with photos has gone. Its was really easy to install, i would recommend watching YouTube first, if you've never changed the Ram before but its so simple takes a few minutes, just need to be gentle and not apply too much pressure if its not slotting into place stop and revisit YouTube again, you have to ensure you remove the two side clips with each Ram there are two sets of clips and this is what can be confusing ensure when you remove the top one you then pull out the side clips for the second one,and remember to do the same in reverse when fitting the Ram's

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch, Mid 2012- 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5- OS El Captain. It went from 4 GB original memory ram to 16 GB Crucial memory ram. The computer was sluggish. I only use the computer for light stuff, I'm not a gamer or anything like that. I do cleanups in the computer regularly, but even so it was a disappointment to use it. I'm not a computer gig and I was a bit scared to install the memory card, but I watched a few youtube videos and checked Apple website and I managed to install it in less than 10 minutes. The only problem I had was with the memory card in the top slot, I need to push it a bit harder in the slot. Other than that, happy days! The computer now is faster than when it was new. It's like a brand new machine! Thanks for all the reviewers!
