A potentially pretty good performance from the least expensive of Cross' fountain pens, received as a recent gift.Probably intended as a 'school pen' to compete with those from Waterman and Parker and probably also Lamy's Safari which are very popular and less expensive to purchase. The pen is very lightweight being all plastic, and the cap does not post effectively, a minor nuisance for those who try. When posted, it invariably works itself free very quickly.The major issue with the Aventura is that it is cartridge only and you are restricted to those branded by Cross which are of a ridiculously low capacity compared with those from competing brands and not especially cheap. This is a great pen. It feels quality, looks quality and writes quality. The flow of ink to the roller ball is faultless. No smudging, and almost a fountain pen quality without the fiddly bits. The design of the pen is modern and functional. I've also got the matching Ballpoint pen, which is also a dream.For the price, its not your everyday pen, but its well worth £25 of anyones money. Cross have a great reputation, and a great guarantee (although not used it) in that if the pen is defective because of manufacturing whenever the fault occurs, Cross will replace it.Buy one, you wont be disappointed.

I am really pleased with this. It is a lovely pen to use - enough weight without being too heavy, feels comfortable in the hand and writes very smoothly. If you are giving it as a present the only thing I would say is that the presentation box is a little disappointing and seems a bit downmarket for a quality pen.

Having already bought the red equivalent of this for my wife, I wanted one for myself - I was torn between the red and the balck version but plumped for the black one as it would differentiate the two (and it's my rugby team's colours). It writes very nicely and is a very nice looking pen.

The heft and solidity of this remarkably good value pen are outstanding. I have given several as presents, but guard my own jealously. I love the colour (it helps me avoid losing it!), but above all I love the way it sits in my hand. I use this in preference to my Mont Blanc.

Bought this as a gift for a friend's birthday and was very impressed - it looks as high-quality as the more expensive Cross / Waterman models at a very reasonable price. The presentation box also looks excellent and makes it an all-round good gift.

Great Pen with a nice matt finish and a good balance, ideal for everyday use with a bit of style, nothing to boast on a meeting room.

Nice pen, nice gift box, nice price, no complaints here, writes well, good weight but not too light nor too heavy, feels the part.

Lovely to write with. I have paid more for other pens and this is just as good as the more expensive ones that I've had.
