I had been toying with the idea of buying a Godin Multiac for some time but baulked at the idea of paying £900 and so I started to explore if there were alternatives. While this Cort may not have quite the sophisticaion of the Godin it does a very similar job and does it very well. I play latin jazz and Bossa Nova and for these styles it is great. I can't comment on how good it is for pure classical guitar or flamenco as that's not my forte. The neck dimensions definitely make it easier than my acoustic guitar for playing tricky jazz chords and for doing solo runs. It is very similar in feel to an electric guitar and when using a pick you can get some very Al DiMeola esque sounds from it.Itis advertised here as having a B-Band pick-up system but mine came fitted with a Fishman Sonicore VTB system (I believe the B-Band system is no longer used by Cort in this model). I was a little disappointed to see this but actually it sounds pretty sweet for the style I play and so I'm not going to complain. Unplugged it is tinny and quiet as expected but I actually find this useful for practicing. You can practice plucking quite hard while not annoying everyone who's within earshot. Once plugged in to a suitable amplifier and with the tone controls tweaked it produces a very nice full bodied sound with warmth and brightness in the right balance. Fret access right up to the 21st fret is very easy which makes it possible to play chords and notes not usually heard on traditional nylon string guitars. I have yet to record with this guitar but from what I have heard through an amplifier and headphones I have no doubt it will record very well. The overall quality of fit and finish is flawless. I bet a £1000 Godin is not finished any better than this is. Very impressed with that! There were only a couple of negatives I have to report. Firstly I needed to adjust the truss rod as the neck had an amount of bow in it. Once adjusted the action and intonation became much better than it was when it left the box.Secondly and more annoyingly is the stupid Fishman sticker that is attached to the guitar body from new. I assumed it was just a vinyl self cling thing that would easily peel off but no! It's a paper sticker with quite strong glue that tears to little pieces and takes ages to remove. It is even underneath the control knobs so you have to pull the knobs off your brand new guitar to fully remove it. Do Cort expect you to leave this on forever, surely not? It took me an hour to get it off and polish all the glue crud off. My advice is if you don't need to remove it, leave it attached. Very annoying! To summarise then, it's a great guitar that is perfect for nylon strung jazz and pop/rock. The quality is very high and I'm sure it's not £500 worse than a Godin even though it is £500 cheaper.

Nowadays playing at gigs all musical instruments are plugged into some sort of amp, I’ve had problems getting classical guitars set up for these gigs until I have used the Cort Sunset NY guitar, the Cort guitar retains all the great sounds of an acoustic classical guitar with out the problems of feedback, so no problem matching the volume of the other musicians musical instruments, unplugged at home there is enough volume to practice which is unlike to be heard in an adjacent room, normally with guitars I buy new I have them set up, the Cort didn’t need any setup so I could start giggling it straight away.
