Having played CoH since its release I just had to buy this expansion pack, well..... if you can call it an expansion pack. The good thing with CoH/OF is, it comes with the original CoH which is a plus.INSTALLATION - I had no problems with installing this game, just like any game out there, there are a couple of patches to download, I would do this out of game prior to installing it, is faster than letting the game download them.GAMEPLAY - CoH/OF introduces 2 new armies, the British Common Wealth and the Panzer Elite. I found both of them hard to play at first but you do get used to them. For example you can't cap your resource points with observation posts, so if they are not covered by units they are easily taken by the enemy,so you have to go back and recapture them. Neither army has snipers (par say) so you have to rely on first contact with a combo of rapid and heavey fire power. The Brits can convert a rifle section to a recon team team but you have to get up pretty close to use the sniper exposing all the section. The PE have a Kettenkrad which you can camo, but it has no offensive capabilities so is vulnerable to attack. The game also introduces new tank units ranging from the British Cromwell to the German Marder III. The artillery is awsome if you are the Brits, bringing along the 25 pounder and the 105mm Priest. A quote from 1st Srgeant Lipton (Band of Brothers), "The most awsome display of firepower I have ever seen". If I am playing a 3v3 or a 4v4 I leave the frontline to my allies and I just build five 25 pounders, and let rip on the enemy where ever they are spotted. And when I have a Captain who does a victor target then all available artillery is brought to bare on the target, some times you can't see anything for the smoke, lol.A link to my orginal review for Company of Heros (to follow)

COH: Opposing Fronts (OF) is stand-alone game that continues the Company of Heroes (COH) franchise. First off, I would not recommend getting COH:OF without the original COH. Having four fractions to play is what makes this game so much better. COH:OF gives you access to new playable factions the British and the Panzer Elite. Each have their benefits and weaknesses and will require new strategies to play with them and against them. Both of these new factions have their own single player campaign with around 8 missions. Basically on the whole about the same content as the original COH that had one campaign with 15 missions. The Panzer Elite campaign has you pitted against the new British army where you fight to defeat the British 1st airborne during Operation Market Garden. The British campaign has you pitted against a mixture of the new Panzer Elite and regular German Wehrmacht units while you move on Caen. Both campaigns are based on the historical WWII actions, but the Market Garden campaign had a more historical feel. I enjoyed both campaigns and found that they helped prepare me for playing online. If you would like to read more about the real battles, I would recommend

I just love this game and play it all the time - just like the original. I am fortunate in that I suffered no installation problems mentioned in other reviews. The units and tech trees the 2 new factions (British and Panzer Elite) have differ far more than the 2 in the original game and offer further longevity by making you use alternate tactics. The single player campaigns (admittedly I am only halfway through the first) are great and contains more missions than the first CoH. The Panzer Elite scenario places you in command of a small battle group during Operation 'Market Garden', and the Brits are trying to oust the Germans from Caen in the battle for Normandy.I am not a multiplayer fan but play the skirmish mode against the computer, and the addition of several more skirmish maps on top of the ones featured in the first CoH (you don't need to insert the original disc in the drive either when playing either the CoH campaign missions or skirmish maps) again adds to the depth of the experience.Basically, if you love the first then buy this!

Really can't believe the fuss people are making over the installation. OK it takes about 15 minutes to install, but anyone who remembers how long it took to load Spectrum games which then didn't even work wont get to excited by this, how fussy have gamers become when this is seen as a really big deal!First time you run it requires a patch which is 170mb, not massive and isn't it better that the developers are keen to improve the game rather than release it and then wash their hands of it.Game wise its classic CoH, still the best RTS there is with top notch graphics and rather amusing dialogue. The two new armies are a great addition to the franchise though I found the German campaign less engaging than the British. If you liked CoH then you'll like this, simple as. If you've not given an RTS ago before then start here. Don't listen to those moaning about installation, it's a simple process that is over in 15 minutes. As an aside if you do purchase this then you don't need to download the massive 1.8gb v2.101 patch for CoH.

I only play on single player so my comments relate to that aspect only.It took a while to suss that I had to load and play the game off-line to avoid problems with Relic registration but once sorted I had no problems at all.So, a good follow up to the first COH game and two different aspects - first you play the very offensive Germans and then the defensive Brits. I enjoyed it and found it very entertaining especiallly as you had to adapt your style depending on which army you had to play.Graphics are nice and this is the right side of difficult so it is not too frustating and you do get swept up into the game - there were a few late nights where I had to do 'just one more thing'.Looking forwardto the next one already....

I bought the game, due to a fault in my DVD drive I suffered a blue screen of death which corrupted the registry and Opposing Fronts refused to install. I contacted THQ via their website at Midnight UK time and had a reply via e-mail within 10 minutes telling me with clear instructions what I needed to do. I followed these instructions and the game installed and works fine. I knew there was a fault with the drive so the install problem was mine not THQ's and the support was excellent. This game is fantastic, it will never have the wow effect of CoH, yet the new weather effects, the movement of shadows and the difference of the new armies make it a whole new challenge.I play this game in a clan ladder and I'm not disappointed.

Ok, the game hasnt drasticly been rewritten, but any real fan of the original COH should autmaticly love this game. I love the fact us Brits get a chance to shine in a real time strategy game like this, rather then the americans just adding another glorified variation of themselves. Im in the british army and love the humour of the british squaddies in the game as they move around the map.Game play is brill, and i love crushing the opposition with barrages of artillery...especially if there human!I dont even notice the install time...then again, im a very patient bloke who doesnt critisize minute details of every game.GIVE IT AGO, and all you Hardcore gamers.. STOP MOANING!!

I am just getting so much enjoyment out of playing Opposing Fronts. The best bit is playing on line. You can play in a sort of leagure or you can play just for fun. You can plavy 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.The graphics are awsome. This is a statergy I play alot. This is not a first person shooter. You control groups of soldiers and tanks in an actioned packed battle.Highly recemmomned that you buy this game.I would say it is not that realistic with the actual perfomamce of varius weapons (e.g. a sherman takes about 3 shots from a tiger for it to be killed.... it should be one) but it is just simply fun.

This game introduces new Graphical features, it introduces 2 brilliantly balanced and well thought out teams, it adds a hard as nails campaign and oh yes you have to register youreself online...in a steam like fasion.... and i dont know about you but i have no problem with that, i mean if i was going to copy it 20 times and give it to all my mates maybe i would but im sorry, the only people who have a problem with the registration are those who want to do things illegal with it, and i for one am here just to enjoy the game itself...which as we would expect from a relic RTS, is flawless

Well, I enjoyed the original Company of Heroes but found some of the difficulty settings a little inaccurate. Easy was Normal, Normal was Hard etc. At least it was to me.But this expansion removes all the problems and is an absolute joy to play. Adding the British and the Panzer Elite armies, you now have four quite different experiences to play with, and a nice load of maps. I don`t (yet) play online so cannot say that that is like, but I am enjoying single player greatly.PLUS there is a Worldbuilder so with some efort you a create your own maps. Deep joy. FIVE stars.

I loved Company of Heroes and if you're looking for another couple of good, story-based, campaigns then this is definitely for you. Yes, the installation is a hassle and that's why it loses a star, but once it was done I had no problems running the game, and I've had no crashes since I've had it (about a week now). The new features make the game feel more intense and the two new armies are well balanced. Well recommended for those who haven't played CoH before as well as it's one of the best strategy games availible.

The game itself is brilliant, one of the best of it's kind. However in order to play the game online alot (maybe an hour or so) of updates will need to be downloaded and installed.Still very much worth it though, as the gameplay is smooth and had a great feel and experience online and off.Map builder also allows some fun mess-around times. If you have an internet connection you can make an account and p,lay the game without using the disk, which can be handy.Good game. Very good price.

absolutly Brilliant. The Campaigns, though short, are gripping and tragic at parts, and some humourous parts as well! The two new armies are more specialised in different roles (defense for the British, Offense for the panzer Eilite), and the new vehicles and units much better. It looks like there is a game better than the origonal Company of Heroes, and this is it!All that nonsense about installation is, well, nonsense! I experienced no problems.Well done relic!

I have a high end vista gaming rig which installed first time for me and plays perfectly. So it is not true to say that it does not work on vista, perhaps the other reviewers need to check the driver updates for their respective graphics card.On the whole an awesome expansion to an already fantastic title of the RTS genre.

Have been playing the Beta for over a month, and it`s brilliant.I vast improvement on first Company of Heroes.British are great fun, although the map soon fills up with trenches.Panzer Elite are favourite though, especially the tank busting crews.Hopefully all the bugs are ironed out now !
