I love this game. I've lost many nights and early mornings to the challenges in this game. Seeing the iffy overall rating given to it by other reviewers I felt the need to add my own. This is a great game, with care paid to the need to keep the interface relatively manageable (ever played Supreme Ruler?!) Comapred to some others, I appear fortunate because I bought mine through GameStop (-no weird DRM rubbish like Steam.) The game itself is not complicated if you actually do the tutorials, which don't take long. The early challenge is always generating enough cash to survive and expand. The game is quite subtle and in my opinion well balanced (in terms of economy, the prices of things, wages and income.) I've often spent hours adding routes, tweaking existing ones and fiddling with wages and things to cope as the economy goes up and down, and then realising that the extra few trams added to a route had pushed a local road past a tipping point of traffic - with the result the whole line grinds to a halt. It beats other sims for realism because of this dynamic - others become tedious after the point where you are generating loads of money. My main criticism is that even with a very powerful computer (-I have an i7 920, 6GB ram and a Radeon 4670) Budapest stutters on full quality. It would also be good not to have to buy add-on packs that consist solely of a few extra buses or a two-layer metro station. This game suits people who like to burry themselves away for hours at a time with a technical/imaginative/financial challenge. Or you live in Edinburgh, like me, and think, like everyone here, that it really couldn't be that hard to design a tram network.

Firstly I must point out that I purchased the steam download not the DVD but as its the same end product I feel I'm qualified to give this review.A lot of thought, time and effort has gone into this game and it shows - the graphics are beautiful, the game physics are a joy to watch (especially when the vehicles slow down to come to a stop and see them jazz up and down just like the real thing. Then there's the game's depth - this is no 5 minute wonder, there is so mu'ch going on, a lot to keep your eye on, its very easy to spend hours trying to get your system running the way you like it, but its not going to be easy! I thought I knew what would be the best way to play but I'm having to rethink strategies, although with practice I'll get there and have fun whilst doing so.Don't get wrong, its not perfect, it needs a few tweaks here and there, for example vehicle capacities are unrealistically low (but there is a mod now available which fixes this) and I think it will need some more cities and other improvements to get there, but in my mind this is certainly the best transport sim that has yet come out, and with my interest in transport I thought I'd be hard to win over.At this price the game has to be one of the bargains of the year. Definitely one for your shopping list if you want eye candy, depth and difficulty! (And bags of fun too!)

Overall an interesting and reasonably thorough game to play. Much like the title suggests it is a hybrid Railroad Tycoon and Sim City. As the Chair/Manager of a public transport firm you have construct lines and routes for your various public transport modes to use. It will be very enjoyable if you like your transport management and city construction types of games. On the downside however it can be a little tedious. Unlike Railroad tycoon where you have political and economic interests to worry about (such as moving resources between towns as to best satisfy Supply and Demand). Instead here the game doesn't really develop beyond shuttling people about. They do try to mix it up a bit by highlighting different classes of people and where they live and work so as best to create your lines (for example the "Blue Collar Workman Line"). However, in most cases there is never one location where they work or live, instead all classes are all mixed up and living/working together in the various buildings, so as suggested, you're really just shuttling people around.A final note is that this game does seem to require a bit of performance to play. My machine is very comfortable working with your Sid Meier Civ 5/Tropico 3 type simulations but with this game my computer seemed to struggle at times.

This is a brilliant game and one that all public transport fans will enjoy. My favourite part of the game is the map editor and there it is very detailed down to doghouses and park benches. I have had this for about a week or two and I have still not yet figured out how to gain money, I keep losing it.The aim of this game is to provide an effective public transport to a city. The graphics are awesome, but I wish that the people of the city would park in the car parks I created...The game spans from 1920 to 2020 with many veichles. You can play in Vienna, Berlin, Helsinki and Amseterdam starting off on sandbox mode and you can play on scenarios or campaign. You can choose your own logo and your name (mine is Ravenclaw and Twinleaf). All in all this is a brilliant game that will serve you hours of fun!

A pretty basic, great looking transport sim. Made from a small upcoming developer which brought their own spark into the market, my only criticism would be the lack of game vehicles available without needing to buy all the DLC.The timeline sketches from 1920 to 2020 and you will see cities change with time and vehicles change with the times, a very good game if you like this sort of game but not if you are looking for something more than just running a transport company. A map editor is included however which is a great way to make cities and is fun, the game is also supported by third-party modding with several communities out there which can add content to your game!

This game is one of my favourites at the moment. If you have ever played chris sawyers Locomotion this is the game for you. You take control of a cities transport network in the hope to increace the mobility of the population throughout the city pushing people away from cars. It is a little tricky as bus routes often get stuck with congestion and what have, but thats the challenge. The only downside is that there is no competition with rival operators that is the case in reality in the UK for buses, but it is still worth every penny. And as it is european everything is on the wrong side, a bit of a pain when planning routes but you soon get used to it.

very similar to traffic giant i used to play a while ago but with muscles, this is very addictive and if you are an anorak like me this will provide hours of transport based fun, bit of a pain when first playing as i had to wait 10 mins while it mucked about with the steam website so i went and made myself a cup of tea but the wait was worth it, the graphics are crisp and clear and sound is fine, and as i said its worth being a qualified anorak when playing this but i suppose its each to his own 9/10

This game has to be activated via Steam and I had no problems doing that here in Finland.I have played this game for about five hours now and I have to say it's a whole lot of fun. Yes, the traffic system is annoying and unrealistic etc. but the game is simply FUN. There are four European cities (Berlin, Amsterdam, Vienna and Helsinki) and I think that they have been modelled well and modified just enough to make the gameplay as enjoyable as possible.A little tip: metros are the way to go.

Paradox produced a very good game. It requires a Video card to get the best of it. Good theme and wide transport vehicles.
