I bought this for a family member at Christmas. When I got it through the post I was surprised how small it was but it looked very nice. I was intrigued about how such a simple little thing could supposedly take more than a few minutes to solve. Over Christmas me and 3 other family members spent ages fiddling with it and getting frustrated! It was very satisfying when it finally came apart... and then came the challenge of putting it back together! Once put back together it was still challenging trying to understand exactly how it worked.It's very well made and I think it would be incredibly hard to break/damage it as it's made of solid pieces of metal.

This is one of the harder Hanayamas I've tried. I've had it a few days and haven't solved it yet, though I feel I'm making progress. It's a little awkward to manipulate, given the smooth surfaces and the narrow cracks you need to slide a fingernail into, so I don't spend long at a time on it.The design is exquisite. Even if you don't want to play with it, it'll look beautiful on your desk. The interlocking "donuts" aren't black and white, as the picture seems to show, but two slightly different shades of silver. The difference between them is barely noticeable. The puzzle is weighty and has a lovely feel in the hand.Update: I'm not sure I really solved it, it just sort of came apart of its own volition.

Arrived within the time stated , nicely packaged and in a nice box .This is a well made , all metal object . It is , as stated by others , a little smaller than I expected . The metal "doughnuts " are 1. 5 inches wide (4 cm) but any bigger and they would be quite heavy !!!It is not an easy puzzle to solve, but harrdly impossible . And it helps if you dont bite your fingernails to the quick !!!Once you realise the trick , its very easy to reassemble but still fiddly t take apart .It is a good conversation piece ... Take it apart before your guests arrive and watch as they struggle to put it together !!!A well engineered , beautifully made puzzle . Maybe a little expensive for what it is ,

I purchased this as a bit of after lunch entertainment for Boxing Day with the family. It foxed us all for several hours, until I finally cracked it. However getting it back together is equally hard!I would recommend this for young adults up (say around 12). It is quite tricky and needs some dexterity to solve, but it is very satisfying when you do.For those not family with these puzzles, they aren't huge, but are well made, nicely finished and feel like quality gifts. It feels heavy in the hand and doesn't have any sharp edges or unsightly moulding flaws.Overall an excellent small gift or stocking filler to entertain the determined puzzle solver.

Along with the Cast-Marble puzzle, for me this is a top puzzle in the Hanayama range for design elegance. Like the Marble it is extremely hard to figure out what it is about the puzzle that will make it come apart and you are most likely to stumble upon it by accident after hours of fiddling about. Once I'd got them undone and saw how they worked and realised the ingenuity of them they went to top of my list. It's a great puzzle to show your friends because they are unlikely to figure it out in the course of an evening. The only negative with this one is that lots of play will tarnish the finish of the metal slightly.

Really nice item from an aesthetic perspective, but I knocked a star off as it's simply far too easy.It's stated as a 4, so not too hard, but I would probably rate this around a 2 to 3 at best. I've only been getting these Hanamaya puzzles for a couple of weeks and this took me around 10 minutes from unboxing, which is a shame as you expect a little longer to keep you interested.As such I'd say this is actually perfect for those coming to these puzzles new and wanting something that isn't too taxing as their first one. Nice object to have sitting around for a talking point too.

A beautiful object. Lovely weight in the hand. Finished to a very high standard, highly polished and each ring a different tone. Difficult enough to require your undivided attention for quite a while, yet far from impossible, so more than just an exceptionally pretty face. This is a proper puzzle, and an exceptional piece of metal work. And absolutely unbeatable as a stocking filler.

Thoroughly entertaining, tactile and well made. This is my first Hanayama puzzle but it certainly isn't the last - I bought two as presents and a further four for myself.The solution is fairly easy to come to, but it is very replayable and the puzzle is just a pleasure to fiddle with due to the good casting and weight.Recommended without reservation.

Nice in the hand and an ingenious yet simple trick to getting it apart. Quite difficult when new and tight, but easier when worn and loose. Unfortunately the one I bought was already quite loose and virtually fell to pieces in my hand. That spoilt the challenge somewhat, but I still appreciate the concept.

Bought for my brother ( I so like to torment him!). He thought it would be easy and was so chuffed with himself when he got it apart but then he tried to put it together and it's driving him crazy. Fab gift and fab quality and delivery was super fast too!

Great fun for christmas, perfect gift if you dont like talking to someone as this will shut them up for hours. They may not like you due to the frustration caused, but they truly are complex pieces of art

superb puzzle. quite fiddly, small, but it is made very well. the hardness rating is 4/6, it deserves higher. now happy to own 6 hanayama`s, this is my fav along with hanayama rattle.

I have several puzzles by the same maker and love them all. This one isn't as difficult as the rating would suggest. Really beautifully made and almost a piece of art in itself.

A thing of beauty, it took me about 2 hours to undo this and another 30 minutes to get it back together. Something to use as a paperweight to draw people in...

Drives people to solve it. Quite addictive. Kept it on my desk and many office colleagues were quite curious about the product.
