I bought this for my husband as a Yule present (evil of me I know :-) but as he has a logical mind, I thought he would have worked it out by now. No, he is still trying and all I can hear is the 'tink, tink' of the metal when he is trying to work the puzzle out.I would say this is a great puzzle for the mind and also for dexterity. You need to think in 3D to work it out so therefore it's educational value has got to be high. I certainly don't think it is possible to break this puzzle (maybe a lump hammer might do it if you are really frustrated :-) If this had been given to me it would have gone sailing through the window by now!By the way there is no answer on the box.

It took me 20 minutes of wiggling and turning to get to three separate peices. I basked in smugness for about five minutes and then spent at least 24 hours trying to force it back together. I've been playing with it on and off for about 2 months now and I still can't take it apart and put it back together with ease.The production quality of this is second to none. It looks lovely when it's complete but it grabs your attention until you leave it as a tangled mess - it looks so easy at first glance but there are so many restrictions as all three peices are distinctly different. I've shown it to all of my friends in various stages and they were all completely stumped by it.Absolutely brilliant puzzle.

TOP TEASER. 90 MINUTES TO DISASSEMBLE, 23 DAYS TO RE-ASSEMBLE. There is just one way to solve this masterly knot of twisted zinc-alloy. It will at times get locked like a shoelace, pieces in correct position need un-doing so one can move the wrong one, so I had to do more wrong ideas to position the next right one, so confusing. This puzzle would be easier if the three pieces were coloured differently from eachother, I even had to colour mine, blue, red and plain, this helped, and most (all) colour transferred to fingers, un-colouring my ink, and all was back to factory state colour.It is subjective,

Dont buy this as you will end up smashing it on your head, melting with blowtorch etc. It is a true mind boggler. It is almost value for money and is extremely robust. Delivery was average, however the packaging was fantastic, and the product was in prestine condition, it was an absolute mind boggler. I tried it and i didnt even notice that 2 hrs have gone by! IT is still lying on the tabl, still filled with tousands of hours of fun. I would not believe this is too appropriate for children under 10 as it is slightly bulky and they will end up crying and frustrated however you could try

As well as being an ingenious and challenging puzzle, this is beautifully engineered with quality craftsmanship. I bought it as a present for my puzzle-loving (adult) brother who loves it both as a puzzle and just as a 'thing'. He is an adept puzzle solver, yet it took several hours to get it apart. As for putting it back together ...... still working on it as I write this! Would recommend for anyone you loves puzzles, has plenty of patience, or simply appreciates quality design and craftsmanship. I cannot imagine where anyone would even start in trying to design something like this!

This thing is mental. I felt my brain looked exactly like the Vortex puzzle and thought it would liquefy. It is tough to solve but I did it. But putting it back together is another story... After long frustration (days) I just checked the solution online, several times, and I still can't put it back together without checking online... Vortex deserves its own category, above level 6 puzzles which I found easier than this level 5. Hope Hanayama will make more challenging puzzles like Vortex.

Yet again another excellent Hanayama puzzle which again is beautifully made and looks great on display.. I bought this for a friend who is very mathematically intelligent with a logical brain.. The puzzle drove him mad but he eventually undone and reconstructed the solve.Now passed over to me and I need sanity because puzzle driving me crazy, I still haven't undone it but will continue to work out the method..I will not be beaten..A most buy to get your brain working..

I've had this puzzle for a while now, and it's still a tangled mess on my desk. I did get it apart, I now can't get it back together again (or, come to that, apart again either). To my mind, this is what a hard puzzle should be about - there's a complex sequence of moves to reach the solution, and randomly fiddling is extremely unlikely to get you there.

Took about an hour or so of fiddling to get apart.Getting back together again took significantly longer! (Elapsed time ~2 months - but maybe only 12 hours effort)Best thing was - it was a friend's who'd had it for a year or more and not succeeded. Hasn't leant me his others as 1. I might do them, or 2. it may take a long time to do...

This was bought for me as a Christmas present, and almost drove me mad. I don't think I could ever have worked out how to do it without watching it on YouTube, and even then it's quite difficult. But even so, very absorbing, and an attractive ornament in its own right when assembled. Good to leave around for your friends to pick up.

I bought this for a Christmas present (2016) for a friend who always boasted he could do any puzzle. It's now end of January 2017 and so far he hasn't completed it :-) I am so pleased!! I will look forward to finding another for this years Christmas present - who knows he might have two puzzles unfinished by this time 2018!!

I bought this as a gift to my father and I can say it was a big success, I haven t tried myself but it took him a month to put it back together, the rest of the family was trying too. It is also very well made and beautiful. He now asks me for more hanayama puzzles, I think the next one will be the donut puzzle!

My boyfriend loves challenges so I bought him this for Valentine's Day.He loved it! It was only after two Physics' PhD students (with months of trying!) Did we manage to unravel the puzzle.It's extremely difficult but great to bring out at a party!

This puzzle is much fun for patient people that like solving puzzles. We managed to take it to bits after about 3 hours of playing and snatching from each other. However, we have not managed to put it back together again. But, we won't give up.

Purchased this as a stocking filler for my dad. I don't think he's solved it yet but, although smart, he is a ham-fingered bloke with a short attention span. It's smaller than you think but it's a good small gift for the fiddler in your life.
