It is a different sort of puzzle, which rubs some people up the wrong way, but I love it. The disappointment some feel is that the mechanism of the puzzle is basically invisible, it's difficult and a bit frustrating to understand what you should be doing, and when you do it, it can feel like dumb luck - or even that the puzzle just broke. However, what trumps it all for me, is that it's actually immaterial how you get it apart - it's almost certain you will NOT use the official/best solution, so taking it apart is just a precursor to finally being able to see the mechanism and THEN figuring out the most effective way of undoing it. I mainly bought this puzzle because the design appealed to me, it looked sturdy, and I figured it would take me a while to solve. It's definitely sturdy, and I did have it for a few days without solving it - before my brother got a hold of it and solved it in less than 10 minutes. I'm both proud and miffed - proud that he solved it so quickly, and miffed that he did it right in front of me.Although I now know how to take it apart and put it back together again, I still like the puzzle. I keep it on my desk as a reminder that something which seems so difficult to solve can sometimes have such simple solutions.

I've found this puzzle to be the least interesting of Hanayama set because (I am pretty sure) it is almost impossible to solve it unless you get a good hint or have ever solved/tried solving a puzzle like this. And the hint provided is not much help either. It is probably even more deceiving...Furthermore, there isn't much to fiddle with as in other puzzles. You can't actually do anything to it (turn/twist/etc.) before you find the solution. It has a sort of one/two step solution.

The product is beautifully made, very nice.Gave this to my autistic son for christmas. He opened and solved it within about a minute... impressive on his part. Would have taken me much longer. So I think this is a remarkable design. Very well designed. Grand master level. Not for the weak. ..:)

So hard!!! I'm having trouble trying to solve it and it came with no guides or anything. The package was from china and so all the writing on the box was in Mandarin, any information that was on it I couldn't understand.

As there are no instrumentalities on the puzzle, it didn't leave many options, so a few minutes later, it was popped. Still, for those who rush into things without thinking, it is a bit of a challenge :D

Nicely made puzzle .. Solid metal conduction.For most people proves difficult although my son solved it in 10 minutes via some lateral thinkingStill recommended if you like these sort of puzzles

Brilliant puzzle takes a little trick to complete but really enjoyable. Beautifully made and very sturdy design, the whole family really enjoyed solving these Hanayama puzzles.

disappointing quality once opened and solved. Plastic internal components that will break. The only one of the hannayama puzzles that I own that will not last a life time.

Given as a gift to a nine year old, who loved it (though once I saw it, it was a struggle to give it away). This is a really good looking, engaging artefact.

It's very nice and good finish, just the size is really small, that I didn't like, in the pictures it looked much bigger. Side from that is fine

I solved this puzzle , not by chance; although I can see how it's possible to dismantle by accident; but by trying to understand its assembly.

Brilliant. Spending many hours of amusement trying to open. Have succeeded, understand the concept and yet, still it is difficult to solve.

It's a great puzzle but one big flaw I first solved it by dropping it but it let me see how it works and the proper way to solve it

a much simpler puzzle than first glance, and gave me lots of fun watching my colleagues at work trying to solve it!
