Canasta is a wonderful game that is the contrast between skill and luck.My local University of the 3rd Age started a Canasta Group and required three new sets of Canasta cards.I chose the more expensive set only to be informed that I could only order one per household.Why I have simply no idea.So I selected this set which is about one pound cheaper.I have looked at the Bicycle brand sets as their cards are superior in handling, play and flow but at £35 plus are three times as expensive as this set.The big question are they any good?These cards are made in Austria by the Piatnik brand.The cards are plastic coated which personally I do not like the 'air cushioned' finish ones that say Bee,

This is good value for money as you get two packs of cards, with the 'canasta' values printed on them. You need this when totally up scores at the end each hand. Plus a brief instruction book on how to play the game. As with all instructions for card games it is easier if you play with someone who knows the game - but the instructions are not too complicated and they give variations on the basic game. There are also 4 scoring sheets - a bit flimsy - but again adequate.So for a complete beginner who wants to play canasta, be it a child from 8 years to grannies and grandpa's this pack will suit all ages. We were recently introduced to the game Canasta by friends and immediately enjoyed the game. We decided to buy a set of cards for ourselves so that we could have a game with friends and family. I accessed Amazon to see if they were available within the store and was delighted to see this product and from the reviews it looked like the set for us.We are very happy with this product. The instructions are clear and concise and the cards themselves have the points marked on each individual card which is very reasurring for new players.We have already enjoyed many hours playing the game and can thoroughly recommend this product for both beginners and experienced Canasta players.

We purchased these cards with the intention of teaching our friends to play Canasta. We learned the game with my parents from one card book and some internet sites, but found that they were never quite clear on the rules and at times we struggled to figure out exactly what the rules should be in certain situations and couldn't find a set of rules that we could decipher in every particular. Well, imagine my joy at finding that the rules accompanying this canasta set are clear, concise and non-contradictory!

I can write this review without even having received my order. It is a fantastic game. Anyone considering buying these cards need to realise that to play you do need at least four packs of cards to keep the game going. I play regularly with friends every week and we all get what can only be described as 'withdrawal symptoms ' when we can't meet! I would strongly recommend learning to play this game. I particularly like the score cards which are included.

If you've not played Canasta before, start now. It's an addictive game which has enough twists and turns to keep the interest but isn't as testing as bridge which, being slightly grey-celled challenged, I failed to come to grips with. In theory, you can play it with any two sets of playing cards, but to have the official Canasta cards when you're learning, helps, because the points are written on the cards. Recommended wholeheartedly.

Very good quality set in a durable box - perfect for taking with you on trips. There are two sets of cards with the same colour backs, and they are individually wrapped. Card values are printed on the fronts of the cards to help you adding up the scores, which is useful. Rules are provided, as are a few score sheets too, to get you started. Would definitely recommend.

Not the easiest of games to learn, but once you've mastered it you can't stop playing. You play in pairs and needs 4 or 6 players to do it justice. One thing I would add, if you want to play with 8 players, then you would benefit from 2 packs put together. Get your friends round and have a great night in. Some of our games have lasted a couple of hours.

I went to try and buy a set of canasta in Bath, but the first shop had never heard of it and one of the biggest retail outlets in the country for games didn't sell it. I ordered this set and everything about the purchase was excellent. They arrived very quickly, the quality of the cards are really good and rules are included. Well done!

Although this is considered an adult card game, we play this with our nieces and nephews aged 10 to 16 as well as adults in the family. The youngest (10)is normally advised (helped) by his grandfther. They all absolutely love the game and happily focus and concentrate on the game for hours.GREAT FUN

This is quite a durable set, the cards appear to be able to stand the test of time, and each card has also got the number of points it's worth which is helpful as a reminder. It also comes with a small number of score cards, which are equally of good quality, and well worth buying.

We play this game at least once a week endless fun with 3 people upwards. Would recommend anyone to learn.These cards are excellent value for money, especially as you need more than one set if there are several players ( six plus). Certainly keeps the old grey matter working.

I buy these cards regularly for myself and a friend. They always arrive well packaged and within a couple of days. They are good quality playing cards and are well marked for playing Canasta. I would recommend this brand to anyone wanting to play the game.

THIS CARD GAME ENABLED US TO TEACH 3 FRIENDS HOW TO PLAY CANASTA ANDWE PLAN TO HAVE MANY SOCIAL CANASTAA EVENINGS IN THE FUTURE' I HAD TRIED TO GETTHIS CARD GAME IN THE LOCAL SHOPS BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. MNY THANKSTO AMAZON AND AT AVERY GOOD PRICE.

Easy to order and delivery was as promised. The presentation box was good and the quality of the cards was excellent. All players were delighted with the feel of the cards.Overall good quality and a pleasure to use. Have ordered another set.
