Many users have reported problems with this particular model, which has now been superseded. However, it is still widely available, often for less than £100, making it a potentially fantastic bargain. The main problem that users have reported is with the RAID software that you install from the accompanying CD. I have used this model on my work computer for more than a year with no problem. It came with a default RAID1 configuration, which is what I wanted, so did not need the RAID software. However, I recently purchased a second model for my home computer which unexpectedly installed itself as two independent disks. The RAID software refused to work, saying it could not find the disks! As a last resort after several hours of fiddling I tried it on my laptop, and to my surprise the RAID software now worked perfectly allowing me to reformat it as RAID 1. When reattached to my desktop computer it now worked perfectly in RAID 1. The other problem is that it comes with a default FAT32 file system. It can easily be reformatted to NTFS but if you then use the RAID software to change the config it reverts to FAT32, so you should do the switch to NTFS [if this is what you want] after you have set your desired RAID config. For format switching I used Paragon Partition Manager, rather than risking the OEM software which looked primitive, or Windows which takes about 4 hours. It is extremely quiet, and powers down automatically a few minutes after you switch off your computer. So in summary this is a bargain 2TB unit, but beware that if you want RAID 1 you may have to attach it to more than one computer to get the RAID switching software to work, and you may want to reformat it in NTFS.
