I bought this Buffalo LinkStation Pro Duo 6 TB (2 x 3000 GB) High Speed Network Storage Device to replace an old WD NAS device. I set it as mirrored RAID and as a media server for my Humax HD Freeview recorder. Does exactly what it says in the tin...It is also significantly faster than the old device - even on a relatively slow network - and additionally has a number of other server features (FTP, HTTP server, DLNA server etc) which I will find very useful.All in all an excellent device that serves my NAS requirements perfectly. It looks good too...UPDATE 2015:March 2015 - hardware failure! I recovered the data from the RAID partition (UFS Explorer, http://www.ufsexplorer.com/download_stdrr.php - best 20 quid ever spent :-)).

Having read many reviews from other buyers I was dreading the set up as most people spoke about the firmware update taking up to 36 hrs to perform.This LinkStation Pro Duo didn't need a firmware update as it was only made in January 2013 and was running the most up to date firmware.The set up to my I Mac was a breeze and once I worked out all I needed to do was create a folder for the Time Machine to look for on the NAS and save its back up to. Very impressed about this!The splitting of the drives into Raid 1 took 5 minutes as well.I have also set up the Web access downloading the app onto my I phone & I Pad and followed the instructions and again this was a breeze too!!This is the first time

Having read some of the reviews I was quite surprised at how easy this was to install; Plug in to my router and away we go. As a bonus it is much quieter than I expected and it intelligently switches itself off when network is not in use. All our family documents now secure and backed up. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

At last a unit that works straight out of the box.No firmware update to do before it works.I also like the auto set up so it only runs when which ever computer you are using is on.The speed of copying is ok but would have liked to be faster.The software is easy to use.It is a fine back up unit at a good price

months after purchasing this nice NAS ! i have given up on trying to use it remotely.....its got nice speed everything as it says on the tin... but somehow i can not set it up to be accessed remotely !

I've worked in IT for the last 15 years, and this a great product to sit fairly quietly in the corner storing what ever you throw at it. Idea for home user or Small business
