I had been looking for a new bin for a while and then I saw this.I was looking for something which wasn’t too heavy or blocky and didn’t need too much pressure to open it. A pedal bin would have been less acceptable to use because of balance issues and something which required a significant push/pull either by foot or hand would have also caused problems. This isn’t a pedal bin but a touch top bin. You simply touch the circular indentation on the lid of the bin to open it, it doesn’t require a lot of pressure to do so, and to close the lid simply press it back into place. The bin has a spring loaded “dampened” hinged lid – this means that it will not spring up quickly, slamming open and clatter backwards like our old bin does.It shouldn’t move (and so far doesn’t move) because it has a non-slip plastic-like base – this base should also stop the bin from scratching and damaging the floor. If you want to move the bin around there is an indented handle beneath the hinge. The “top” comes off to allow access to the “bucket” inside and this is the only bit that I have had a problem with – the fit on ours is quite tight and it takes some manipulation to remove it - once off things are simpler.Inside is a large bucket with a fold down metal handle. The handle is thin and if there was any significant weight in the bucket it could cause a problem for the person carrying it. The metal anchors into the bucket with weaker looking plastic slot/connection point and having experienced one of these plastic slot/connection points fail with a full bucket I wouldn’t want it to happen again (I have a very nasty large scar down my shin), therefore I would recommend not letting the bin get too full or putting anything too heavy in it.The bucket has vents at the bottom so that a vacuum cannot occur and the bag will fall from the bucket with ease, and according to the bumph it also means that the bucket can be removed from the bin without a problem. These vents also mean that anything that might have a liquid component (such as a paper towel or cloth used to clean up a spill) could leak out through these vents and into the bottom of the bin – and you will eventually have to clean the bin out should it start to smell or become sticky.Brabanta sell bin bags/liners which are made to fit their own bins but you can always try out others to see if they will do.The bin also comes with a 10 year guarantee – that’s a first for me as I had never seen a rubbish bin with a guarantee. This is a really nice bin which I would hope will last much longer than the 10 year guarantee would suggest.

Very excited to receive our new bin. It arrived neatly packed with three sample bin bags we wasn't expecting and a ten year guarantee I have one of the special bin bags as one of my usual ones and both fit well. You need to make sure you line the inner bin up as there are grooves in the base of the bin, otherwise it won't fit snugly and the lid won't go back on. I liked the inside of the bin being bright blue , looks nice and will make it easier to keep clean. There was no handle on the bin to help you carry it ( I opened the packaging in the hall so I could put it straight out into the bin ) but it was light and easy enough to carry, but took both hands, something you may or not find important.Time will tell if I prefer lifting off the bin lid to change the bag inside, as the last one the lid flipped up and stayed up until I shut it again.I liked the promise of it staying finger, mark proof as having two young boys that definitely appeals. However, the youngest went to try and put something in the bin and left a few greasy marks on the lid, they have wiped off using a cloth and warm soapy water. All three males have asked me how to open the bin, think they thought it would have a sensor or something, but the lid lifts up very easily even with just a little finger. Nice and quite to as the last bin was metal and quite clattery when you shut it or changed it ( I think our female guinea pigs would have no problems).Overall, the new bin looks stylish in our kitchen, I like the colour and size ( anthracite (black) 30L ) probably needs changing every other day in a busy family household of four, the slip proof base keeps it secure, and so far has been easy to keep clean.A nice bin if you want something a bit special to finish off the look of a room.Review based on the bin and not on price as this could alter, but in our opinion rather pricey at eighty four pounds at the time of this review. But a lovely stylish and efficient Brabantia bin it as to be said, very happy with this product.

This bin certainly looks nice, and is quite unobtrusive. At 30 litres, it's slightly narrower than our previous 50 litre bin, but is still sufficient to cope with a few days volume of rubbish. The key feature is the lid, which raises and shuts gently with just a slight nudge. It's effective, allowing you to open the bin with just a slight flick from your little finger - very useful when your hands are full with messy rubbish. I'm hoping this will last longer than the typical foot peddle mechanism of kitchen bins, which seem to break after a couple of years. One slight niggle of the light-touch opening mechanism is that even the light pressure of sticking up paper is enough to activate it.This is therefore a bin you have to empty once full; no trying to use the lid to compact the rubbish to squeeze more in. Another niggle is that you have to lift off the lid and put it down somewhere every time you empty the bin. We've found that the bin works fine with standard supermarket bin liners. A sample pack of three Barbantia bin bags is provided. These fit well, are strong, and have a useful drawstring. However they are quite expensive to renew, so I think we will be sticking to standard bin liners in future._____________________________________Update February 2017The bin is still working well, and still looks as new.

Yes, it's a lot of money to pay for a kitchen bin, but it is just so beautiful. I didn't think I'd ever get excited by a kitchen bin, but this is really fabulous! It's a really stylish colour (they call it anthracite), it would fit in with any colour scheme in a room. The flip top lid is excellent and designed so well, it opens with just a touch of the finger, and is smooth and doesn't bang against the wall or unit that the bin is next to. Inside the bin there is a removable plastic bucket, this makes the bin really easy to clean and it doesn't get smelly. You do need to buy the Brabantia bags that fit this bin, Amazon sell them for around £5 for 40 - I'm not sure if there are cheaper alternatives available. The bin comes with 3 bags, and they are pretty good. They are strong and have a tie fastening top. There is the facility to register the bin online and this gives it a 10 year warranty, which is excellent, but for the price paid, it should last more than 10 years I'd hope.I'd love to give this bin 5 stars, and if it wasn't for the price, it would certainly be a five star product. However, over £80 for a bin is pushing it just a bit.

Remember years ago that ad slogan for a European beer: reassuringly expensive. That could well apply to this refuse bin at the current Amazon price and oddly alternative colours are cheaper than this anthracite coloured model, perhaps even more oddly Brabantia have other bins costing well over a hundred pounds! As bins go this is hard to fault, pleasant shape and colour, inner bucket is quite deep and has a handle that lays flat into an easy access recess, the flip lid takes no effort to open...so what's not to like...maybe the price.Brabantia will guarantee it for ten years and the side of the bin's packaging says after twenty years please help to dispose of it responsibly.

PRELUDE: You've been there.. it's 3am and you're coming in from a night out, kebab in hand. You close the door quietly, slowly releasing the latch. Creep into the kitchen and warm the remains of your kebab in the microwave -which you stop just before the 'ping' gives you away. Scoff the last of your kebab and screw the paper wrappings into a tight ball. Open the pedal bin to dispose of the evidence and B A D O I N G !! The blasted lid bangs against the wall like a broken cymbal. 'Busted' as the Septics would say.REVIEW: I've been using a

Delivery very quick. Love the colour and the flip top lid. No more pressing to open. Just a light touch and it open's nice and quiet. I do think you could never fill to the brim as the rubbish will open it. No hardship it will stop me trying to squeeze too much in. There are no edges where grime can collect so it should be easy to wipe clean. I also like the textured plastic lid. I hope it lasts the full 10 years, it should do there are no springs to break just a well balance lid.

Ok so it's bin, and to be honest it didn't excite me when I opened it, why would it? Its a bin. But the bin itself is very well made and does look nice. My kids finger prints won't show up on this apparently, so me polishing it everyday like my old bin will save me time and effort. Would I spend £80 on this? Hell no its jus a bin like I said! Advice would be wait till they come up on the offers on Amazon and get it for £30 and at that price this bin is an absolute bargain!!

As usual from Brabantia, this is a high quality product. It's nice looking. Although completely plastic, it's got a really nice high quality matt black finish with a blue trim around the rim. It looks nice. I love the soft open/close lid, which is easy to use, stays open, won't damage paintwork, and is completely silent. The bucket inside is really easy to get out. The bin wipes clean very easily. It's long and thin, so is quite tall, but will easily fit in a corner.

Really glad I bought this. Had a horrible black outdoor bin before! This is far easier on the eye, easier to clean and is a good size so you're not emptying it all the time. Neither is it taking ages to fill and starting to smell.I have a Brabantia ironing board and it is the best one I've ever had. Might be a little pricier but it's worth it as it lasts.Bin is beautifully sleek, mother-in-law approved. What's not to like!

After a press open lid it took a while to get used to the flip open lid on this bin. The plus is it is plastic mainly and no streaky marks or rust and easier to clean than out last model.Same size as our last model and the inside drum and lid remove easy, as with last model the inside drum had become stuck.Good to have an improved model. Always find this make pricey but they do last years.

Lovely bin colour is spot on matches my kitchen aid pale pink appliances,I like the plastic lid as my last one had a chrome lid and it went rusty underneath,My only gripe is the red bit that the lid fits onto don't think pink and red go together, luckily you can't see much of it other than that love it and a good price from Amazon

19.12.2015

It's weird to get so excited about a kitchen bin, but this thing looks sleek and shiny and much nicer than a kitchen bin has a right to. If you have to have a bin on display, you might as well get a nice one and Amazon was selling this one at an exceptionally good price. I'm a happy bunny.

19.7.2015

Probably the best thing about it is the height. It's just the perfect height so you don't have to bend over to open it.It's a five star product if you're willing to pay the steep price. If you're not willing to pay the big bucks then look elsewhere.

6.6.2017

Creative design and easy to use.take very little space, handy as well.It is light weight though it is over priced in terms of quality.I am still happy due to the Barbanta because they are really best for the bin.
