Honestly speaking, I was deceived by the name 'Super' when I passed by a guitar shop on my holiday. Over Drive OD3 cost over £70 I knew. I was looking for a pedal that sounds heavier or noisier or crunchier than OD3. The display 'Boss SD1 Super Over Drive ONLY £35' got its chance to mislead me.Once I was back home, I straight away jacked my guitar in and hit the chord with SD1. I could not get heavier or noisier or crunchier sound that I hoped for. Disappointed at first, I could not even go back on holiday to the same place for refund. Having no choice, I had to keep it. Keep it on the chain next to DS1.The more I used it, the more I got used to with its sound.

For £39 this is better than the OD built in to the drive channel of most solid state amps. AND a lot of tube amps too. It will never give you insane distortion but thats not the idea...its a good solid rock and roll overdrive, extremely well made and easy to adjust. For £39 this should be the starting point for every new guitarists adventure into effects. If you have a decent amp with good overdrive its probably redundant, still useful to take to jams/rehearsals etc where you may be provided with an adequate amp with a clean channel then just whack this in for your solos. Not mind blowing sounds, but cannot fault it.

Excellent pedal! I have my gain down and my volume up higher. I have a lovely contrast between my clean and lead with this and without over saturation and weird hiss sounds. I have tried a few expensive and Jon expensive pedals and this blows them out of the water. You must have a tube amp to really make this shine. I play a fender strat custom with SSL-1 pickups the lowest output pickups and the tone is out of this world. Great for rhythm and lead without sounding too different. If you want that thick tube hollow blues lead 'tone' then go for this! If I lost it I wouldn't play until I have another one. Thanks boss!

I already had a Boss DS1 but wanted the same drive but with less distortion to suit better the music I play. After researching this pedal I decided to buy it. I am very glad I did.... what an amazing, rich tone. This pedal really boosts the sound of your guitar but keeps the tone true. I would recommend this pedal to anyone.SD1 - SUPER OVERDRIVE

Excellent value basic drive pedal, works well as a device to increase volume for lead work or to drive a valve amp - I use mine through a Fender Blues re-issue which helps to add some crunch without undermining the basic character or clean tones of the amp - Ideal for a player who doesn't really use pedals but needs a boost when taking a lead.

Perfect condition. Came with 9v battery ready installed. Works great, no complaint at all. Great tone with all my guitars and fits into my rig perfectly. Awesome tubelike tones through my solid state Marshall. Soaring leads and crunchy rhythm when coupled especially with the Boss GE-7 EQ pedal. Great buy, love it!

THOS OVERDRIVE PEDAL IS GREAT.IT IS SOLID,NOT NOISY,LOOKS GREAT AND SOUNDS EVEN BETTER.NOT FOR METAL HEADS BUT FOR ROCK,BLUES OR AT LOW LEVEL JUST FOR A SUBTLE BOOST THE TONE IS GREAT.I ALSO HAVE ELECTRO HARMONIX OVER DRIVE.THIS IS LESS FUZZY BUT I LIKE IT JUST AS MUCH.IT IS GREAT IF YOU HAVE ANY SUBTLETY

This SD1 'Overdrive' is just brilliant and serves is purpose just great, linked up right next to a DS1 Distortion "Boss" box.Mingle these two to choose from, as you go along & for good measure, just throw in a RV5 Digital Reverb & you've got all you will ever need. ? Heaven ~ Thanks 'Boss'

This is a very good overdrive pedal. It has a sound which is almost tube-like, to a vintage-style crunchy overdive. It is a very nice addition to my board, and it looks great next to a boss ds1. Overall I am impressed.

I don't have anything to compare this with as this is my first pedal. I am a rhythm guitarist who wanted some extra volume and power as I switch to lead in some songs. This does exactly that.

Great unit, works very well, and built with the usual Boss quality. I have a few BOSS pedals all very reliable and durable. One tip, get the power supply as it eats batteries. Recommended

The Boss Overdrive pedal is a good buy, has a nice sound to it unlike other pedals. A great tool for ripping into hard guitar solos from rhythm.

Great quality distortion, easy to use and good variation possibilities in terms of tone and intensity. Useful for both rythm and solo work.
