There can't be a person alive in the developed world who hasn't seen the ubiquitous bic 4 colour pen before. It went out of fashion a bit when the stakes were raised with those 10 colour pens, but to be honest, nobody wants a fat pen and they didn't always work that well. The classic 4 colour one is reliable and practical and feels like a pen. But you know that, you've probably used them before! So, instead of "hygenic cooking plaster blue" they've decided to go with some metallic colours. I'm surprised it took this long to try different case colours although I must say these have been out for a while, at least three years that I can think of, I remember buying a blister pack of them a good while back. Now,for me, these are cool, but the one with the automatic pencil as one of the "colours" is way, way cooler. Look it up, it's called "bic 4 colour multi function pen". Just a heads up there. So, you get 12 pens in a box for something slightly less than a quid fifty a pen at time of reviewing. That's pretty decent. You have to remember these are very nearly four times as complicated as a cheap biro so you're getting a lot for your money. But they are all the same colour and they'll disappear surprisingly quickly if you leave them lying around, the old ones vanished quickly enough, and these ones are shiny. Two thumbs up though, they are (almost) the best pens out there. The best ones are the ones with the pencil in, that I mentioned :)

This is a particularly snazzy twist on the classic four-colour ballpoint pen, featuring a pretty eye-catching, metallic blue barrel - definitely a bit more impressive to the eye than the classic, flat blue of the traditional case. It might not be functionally very useful, but it's nice to be different sometimes!More importantly, they're pretty solid in terms of function, too. They don't feel at all flimsy, like cheaper versions of this type of pen are prone to be, and seem well constructed and durable. Each colour locks down into place securely, and they produce a medium line with smooth, well-flowing ink for a ballpoint (again, you can tell the difference from cheaper biros). Not only that, but they're refillable for each individual colour - kudos for making them a bit less wasteful than some stationery products.Great for office / school where it's handier to have a single pen for notes / marking rather than cart around four. A nice twist on a pencil case classic! ✍

Very useful pens, an updated classic. The "metallic" refers to the glossiness of the pink plastic coating - very shiny, reflective, just like metal (though don't know of any actual pink metals!)It has the four colours you are most likely to need - black, blue, red and green, in a pen that's only slighly thicker than normal. The ink is interesting - if writing quickly, you can get a slight fountain-pen effect as the ink thickens at corners (slower) and thinner where the pen moves quicker. It's only a slight effect, but gives the writing more character and interest than say, a gel pen that flows rather too perfectly. The box of 12 works out very reasonably.Mine came with a bar-code sticker on the side (presumably for selling individually in shops), fortunately that was easy enough to remove. All in all, a great practical pen that writes like the classic BIC that it is.

You have to use a lot of pens to justify the 12-pack, especially at the price, but being BIC brand you can be assured they are good quality everyday pens. The pink barrel is the only difference from a standard pen and serves no purpose except to look attractive, and potentially help you identify your pen from others'.The usual 4 ink colours are present: black, blue, red and green and all write equally smoothly. You may find that the nibs of the colours you use less frequently will require a bit of "scrubbing" to restart them, as is often the case with ballpoints. The fatter barrel, made necessary by the multiple inks, actually makes the pen easier to hold and more comfortable to write with over long periods. My wife - whose writing is usually of the sort even a doctor couldn't read - claims that she is able to write more neatly with fatter-barrelled pens like these.

This pack of twelve pens arrived in a branded cardboard box which can be used for storage. The pens have a metallic blue and white casing which is attractive, and they are quite chunky and comfortable to hold. At the bottom there are four different colour options which you use your thumb to push up in order to change the ink colour. The four colours are blue, black, red and green, all of which show up well on white paper. The colour options make these pens useful for a work or school environment. (If you want more fun colours, these pens can also be purchased in varieties which include pink, purple, orange etc.) The ink flows well without blobbing, and the nibs are fine, allowing for neat writing.Overall, these pens are good quality and I love being able to alternate colours, though at full price they are a little expensive.

These 4 colour Bic biros have been around for quite a long time - popular in kids' pencil boxes but not really noticed in the mainstream line of biros. However, this smart shiny new version with a pack of 12 with different coloured outsides is very jolly and extremely useful. Because there are 4 colours in each biro - black, blue, red and green - the pen itself is reasonably large to hold so you might not favour it if you like a really slim pen. But if you ever have a need to switch between colours while carrying out a project these are brilliant. Choose the colour you want and slide down the appropriately coloured clicker at the top of the pen and immediately you get the one you want to write with.A box of 12 seems quite expensive but if you consider each one has 4 colours, you are almost getting 48 pens for the price!

I have used these 4-colour Bic pens (in the classic red/green/blue/black combination inks) for years. This is a more feminine version – the body is pink and a very shiny metallic. My wife and daughter really like them.I have used this style of pen for years (in the blue instead of pink version). I find them very useful – there is no need to find another pen when you want to change colour. Just click down a new colour and then click back to your original colour. You can make the transition in a fraction of a second. The only real disadvantage of that is that I find I run out of blue first as that is the colour I normally write in. What you can do is open the pen, remove the used-up colour and replace it with one removed from a new, disposable single-colour Bic pen.Price at time of review: £15.64.

The classic Bic 4 colour pen has been around for as long as I can remember, and is a reliable staple of school pencil cases, as well as workplace desks. This version comes in a medium point with a nice shiny metallic quality to the shaft of the pen. They are great to hold and write very well. The colours all reproduce as expected and the pens are comfortable and pleasant to use. Switching between the colours is easily accomplished using the buttons at the top of the pen.At the current price, this set comes in at a bit over £2 per pen, which initially seems a little expensive; but then you are getting a reliable brand and in effect 4 separate pens in each one (although you will likely use the blue and black colours up first).A classic pen with a shiny twist and well worth picking up.

I'm of the generation when these four-colour Bic pens were pretty cool. Handy for school/lectures - the original all-the-handy-colours-in-one-convenient-package pen. So, when I was offered a box of these ones through Vine, I was very happy to give them a go.They're basically just the 'original and best' four colour pens, but with a smart, shiny-looking coloured barrel. They write just as well as the originals, and are built to last too, with a nice positive action when switching between the colours.I just have one little niggle - the barrel is so shiny that it easily gets sweaty and slidey after only a few minutes of use.So, if you plan to only use it for notes and shorter use, it's a cracking pen,but it might be a little irritating if you use it for prolonged periods.

This pack of 12 multicolour pens from Bic is straight out of the 80s. Along with a rubick's cube and a yo-yo everyone in school wanted a multicolour pen. They were great to have and I haven't seen them in years...For those who don't know what they are - each pen is 4 pens in one. You can choose between blue, red, green or black ink by sliding down a lever on the side of the pen.The nib size is medium and the pen is reasonably comfortable to hold and write with. As an added bonus the ink cartridges are replaceable. If you have lots of writing to do I'd recommend a single colour pen with a softer body but as an occasional pen with 4 different colours in one its great. Particularly useful for annotations, making notes or marking work. Can't beat a winning formula!

I remember these pens from my childhood in the 1970's. They were quite a novelty then with their 4 ink colours, were a favourite with all my friends and we'd take great delight in completing our schoolwork in green ink. Today they're exactly how I remember them with the same long-lasting, smooth-flowing 4 colours (red, blue, black and green). To be eco-friendly, they're refillable too using standard size ballpoint pen refills or a dedicated 4-colour pack by Bic although the refill pack currently costs more than the pen which rather defeats the object...With their chunky barrel they're easy and comfortable to grip, there's a hanging loop on the top together with a shirt-clip and the glossy purple colour is an attractive modern twist on an old favourite.

Ah, these take me back. I doubt there are many children of the 80's who didn't find one of these in their possession at some point. Four different colour biros in one pen, what's not to like? The design has barely changed at all. The only difference is the colour of the lower half of the pen. Whereas it used to be a plain sky blue, it's now a darker blue, shiny chrome-looking affair. My only slight reservation is that it's quite a chunky pen and this may put off those who are used to a more elegant design. However, should you need different colour pens for work, this is a very tidy solution and you are effectively getting 48 pens for your money too,so less that £1 a pen.A true nostalgic design classic!

For me, the ink flow is the main priority when judging a pen; and regarding the Bic Medium Point 4 Colour pen, all ink flows are impressive. The pen itself is comfortable to use, although having a slightly larger diameter than the average ballpoint, is nevertheless, not too bulky and once one has started writing is not even noticeable. Having four different colour inks available is so convenient and time-saving, especially, when colour-coded annotations are required, which are the bane of a student's existence!Although it might seem a little much when having to fork out initially, the cost of these quality Bic pens are actually very reasonable indeed.Definitely recommended - 5 stars!

The 'BIC 4 Colours Shine Ballpoint Pens Medium Point (1.0 mm) - Assorted Metallic Barrels, Box of 12' comes as a cardboard box - mine got quite squashed in the post, but this was due to the packaging and I won't hold it against BIC! - containing twelve of their excellent four colour pens. I have been using these pens since my school days, and they're as good as they ever were. They very seldom leak, are comfortable to hold, and the convenience of having four colours in one pen cannot be overstated when working in a school setting. These come with a selection of different coloured barrels in pretty metallic shades, all with the standard red, green, blue and black inks.Excellent product.

This pack includes 12 Biro pens, which writes in four different colours. These are a little chunky to hold, but it is easy to switch between the colours – red, blue, black and green. The pen has a medium tip and writes smoothly. They are useful for me at work, as I often use red pen to mark mistakes. Likewise, my son needs green and red pens to correct work at school, so it is very useful to have all the colours in one pen. These have been very popular with everyone in my house, who have all found these useful. Not perhaps that comfortable to write with for a long time (admittedly, I do have small hands and these are fairly large), but ideal when you wish to switch between colours.
