These are like wax crayons in pencil form which keeps them from being broken and also from the dog eating them ! They cover the page easily, well and evenly and can cover large areas - if they are sharp, however, they can also be used for finer work. The pencil itself is wooden and quite chunky which is good for small hands although the pencils are actually quite long which may make them unmanageable for very little ones. They are triangular in shape so they should be easier to grip. There are eight pencils which are the usual useful colours although I would have had only one blue pencil and replaced the other with a black one. The pack includes a large sharpener for the pencils - should you lose this then you could use a knife (adults only)because a standard sharpener will not work,Nice pencils - much less likely to tear the paper than most coloured pencils when a bit of force is applied and the coverage is excellent.

This pack has eight different pencils: dark blue, light blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, red and brown. There is a small pencil sharpener tucked in the bottom of the box and it is best to keep this, as the pencils will not fit in a normal size sharpener. The pencils colour in almost like crayons, having a slightly waxy feel; but, as the tips can be sharpened, it means you can do more delicate drawing/colouring. These are better for colouring than drawing though, due to the absence of a black pencil, which is so important for drawing outlines. As other reviewers have, so rightly, pointed out, the pencils have a good shape (triangular), making them easy to grip, but are too long for small hands to control easily. My little nephew, who is three, found them quite difficult to hold comfortably, so they are better for slightly older children – probably 5 +. These are nice quality pencils though and the colours are bright.

A great set of chunky colouring pencils with a soft crayon-like lead. You get the following vivid selection of colours: dark and light blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, red and brown. Unfortunately black is notable by its absence. A sharpener also comes supplied in the bottom of the pack. The pencils have a chunky triangular shape, which makes them easy to grip, and they're really quite long compared to traditional colouring pencils. My eight year old got on brilliantly with them, using them as soon as they arrived to work on a school homework project about the Stone Age. They were particularly good for laying down large areas of colour, but because you can easily sharpen them, they're still good for adding detail too. My 2 year old still preferred his regular and more traditional colouring crayons. Recommend for slightly older kids - 5+

I got these pencils for my 7 year old disabled son. He loves to draw but he has fine motor difficulties and finds holding pens and pencils difficult. These pencils are a good size. Similar to crayons in girth but long like a normal pencil. They really encourage good pencil grip holding and are highly recommended by occupational therapists. They aren't perfectly round as they have a slight triangular shape to them which makes them grippy. My son always chooses these pencils to draw with. They come with a chunky pencil sharpener (because these pencils are extra large they will not work with a normal size one) however as I experience with all pencils the tips always break off during sharpening. And sadly these pencils are no different. I expected better quality but hey ho. Still recommended for any child.

These are a good choice of colouring pencil for encouraging good grip; they are triangular and quite thick so easy for small hands. The lead is a bit thicker and softer than the norm. This does mean that coverage is good but the lines produced are quite thick - as you can hopefully see on my photo. It also means that the special sharpener is handy as they don't fit in a standard one. Being made of wood they sharpen well and we haven't had any issues with lead breaking, also a problem with cheaper pencils in my experience which end up being somewhat of a false economy. There's a good choice of vibrant colours (no black) that make these ideal for the primary school or preschool child.I would recommend them as being a quality item.

This us a nice set of colouring pencils for younger children. They're chunky and have the triangular shape that allows children to hold them properly when drawing or colouring. They're like a mix between a crayon and pencil as they have a soft, waxy consistency. This means that they give a bright, glossy finish on paper, but also means that if you sharpen them to a fine point the pencil tip will break off as soon as you press too hard! My advice is don't sharpen them too much, they arrive looking a little blunt and now I understand why. They do come with a large holed sharpener which is useful as these pencils won't fit normal sharpeners.

My kids love using these pencils to colour in because they are really easy to use, the lead is soft and thick and the colour just glides onto the paper. My daughter especially loves them because she tends to draw pictures that need a lot of colour (a blue sky, for example) and she told me that these pencils make it much quicker for her to finish her pictures.I tried one out, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was like a very soft kohl pencil, and the chubbiness of the lead means really good coverage. A really good addition to my kids' collection of colouring things!

These pencils are very pleasant to draw with, soft ans smooth with a very comfortable grip due to the triangular shape. My granddaughter was impressed with the sharpener tucked into the bottom of the pencil box, which was a bonus as the pencils do not fit in a normal standard size sharpener. The colours themselves are really vivid and bright and are superb quality. These are ideal for pre school and primary age children.Only drawback as such is the omission of a black pencil in the set - but overall very good and I recommend.

These very long and very thick pencils have a nice 'feel' to them. I've had cause to purchase this exact set before and the application of the colours is very smooth. There are eight different colours in all; the only real colour that I miss is black. That asides there are a nice range of warm and cold colours. Also included is a bog standard albeit large entranced pencil sharpener which is a useful addition as these pencils are so chunky thus a normal sized pencil sharpener wouldn't fit.Not bad value at all for what you get.

Great solid chunky colouring pencils, perfect for my toddler learning to draw (supervised) but also for older children. This pack includes eight colours and a pencil sharpener. They are lovely and soft to use with no need to press too firmly on the paper for good results. They feel solid and well constructed and are a nice long length. I normally associate Bic with biros but I am really impressed with these colouring pencils and would highly recommend them.

Eight chunky colouring pencils-yellow, light blue, pink, orange, green, red, brown and dark blue- and a sharpener. The pencils are three sided which makes them very comfortable to hold and easy to grip for small hands. They are quite large pencils which means many sharpeners you have at home won't be of any use. To my daughter's delight the sharpener actually sharpens the pencils as opposed to breaking the leads. The colours are vivid and cover well.

Our two year old has been trying these out and he approves - they are easy to hold, draw well and the colours are vibrant. The nature of the wax and the sharpener though makes the tip large and it blunts quickly. It also is vulnerable to dropping, causing the whole tip to break off - surprising for a wax. Our set also didn't have a black pencil, which seemed a strange oversight in the colours.Overall though, very good and perfect for a young child.

This is a really nice packet of eight soft pencils. The colours are vibrant and they write/ colour with minimal pressure so have been great for my three and four-year-olds to use. They're thicker than a regular pencil too, so are easy to grip. The pack comes with a sharpener too, which was a great bonus.A great value pack, which I'd recommend, especially for small children transitioning and starting to use a conventional pen grip.

These are great colouring pencils. They are bigger than your usual standard pencils, have a triangular shape and soft lead. The colours are beautiful. They are very easy to grab so perfect for small kids and easy to draw with without needing to put much pressure on them. I really like that they come with a pencil sharpener. These are now a favourite in our household.

As pencils, these are lovely and soft and easy to use. However, what makes them a spectacular success in a toddler's hands is the size. Not as think as normal pencils, not as chunky as some kids' colours, they are just right for detail work and colouring in.The large bore pencil sharpener is also a hit, although I'm not so happy about finding shavings everywhere!
