Sturdy, though slightly expensive updated version of the age-old game favourite. It is a game that is elegant in its simplicity. It involves some basic strategy and planning skills. But it can be played with children from I guess 6 years old. Both our children, aged 7 and 9 thoroughly enjoy it. And it keeps them quiet for about 15 minutes, at a minimum. It doesn’t take more than 2 minutes to explain, it doesn’t take more than a minute to set up to play (though a little bit of stickering is required to place the labels in place after first opening the box. Is straightforward but fun).So the box contains 2 battle cases that are fairly sturdy. There are 5 battle ships for each player. The 84 red and 168 white pegs importantly are not too small to handle for children. They fit well in their bases and don’t drop out that easily, but I’m not sure I would recommend this set for travel. Our family is very much into board games. We love to spend time with the children in an engaging game. And so do they, given that whenever we set up a table top game, we witness the rare occasion that they’ll abandoned their electronics devices without the usual protest. We are intrigued by the excellent new family games that have been produced over recent years. But we are also going back from time to time to the classic golden oldie games that we played in our own childhood. Stratego, Risk and of course Battle ship. We only had a small vintage travel version lingering around that the children never played before, so for the summer holidays we though it a good idea to have a conveniently sizeable, modern, updated version having around. Some further thoughts on why I bought this version;Analog vs Digital - I was briefly considering the electronic version of the game, but opted for this version given the price tag of more than double this already not so cheap analog game (frankly it is just two plastic battle cases and pegs). But i didn’t think the electronics would be very impressive and if you go on that route you might as well get a Battleship app on you iPad/iPhone. Moreover, the electronic version does not come with two loose, disconnected battle cases, so you can only play opposite of each other in a tight manner. This basic version allows you to play from a convenient couch or garden seater as well.Premium vs cheaper branded - Also there are much cheaper but smaller and lower quality versions around from obscure brands. However given that little pins are included I didn’t want the game experience being spoilt by fiddling with small parts. So in short i was looking for a large set with separate battle cases. Also with respect to sturdiness, I think given that it is a game played by children where emotions can run up a little, it was best to go for a supposedly durable premium branded version, where the case don break and the pins remain in place.

Great family fun and helpful in surviving lockdown, it’s well made and sturdy which if you have young children I think it will withstand most tantrums caused by loosing a ship. I was a bit disappointed in the fact that I thought it was the game with the noises and lights, for the money and I chose the dearer game ( I just didn’t read the full description entirely my fault)Good fun had by all that played the traditional game of Battleships, my daughter took half to Uni and we play a long distance version with one move each a day.

Purchased as a present for a young lad that no longer had this game due to the premature death of said game due to lack of build quality and perhaps some demanding play. This version, the proper version in my opinion, is truly a worthy replacement as it is well made and affords separate playing boards – rather than the cheaper head-to-head versions.Would happily recommend this product, but would offer one warning, which is this: When being used by two people, any other people present will want to get involved! ?

I read some negative reviews about pegs falling out. Used properly that has not happened. Of course, you can't close the lid half was through a game !!! It's probably more study that the travelling version, and a great game to play - and much easier with two separate boards. It's not a game that's very suitable for travelling, but indoors sitting comfortably, it will give hours of enjoyment.

My son asked for a Nintendo switch for Christmas (which he got) so we just wanted some stocking fillers and this was one! But I can honestly say he has played more with Battleships than he has the Nintendo Switch! He loves it and we love it too because it’s just the same as when we were children!

Purchased for our Grandson (aged 6 years) as a present. We enjoyed playing it together very much. I have since been told by his parents that every time he has friends round this game comes out, which is a great recommendation. Suitable for children and adults of any age, it is great fun.

This is a sturdy, well presented game. Before this purchase we played using pen and paper! Easy to understand instructions, if you've never played before. Nice having the pieces (ships, pegs) to make it more enjoyable. Encourages interaction, communication and logical thinking.

This game Is a crowd pleaser. I love the fact that the battleship cases are separate. My boy and I played on different sparate sofas and it was much more pleasurable. The pieces fit into the board without falling out and it can be packed away neatly into the box. Very pleased.

Great game - easy initial set up. Letters & numbers on the boards are clear & there are plenty of pegs - more than needed. It’s a bit more pricey than some cheaper alternatives on the market but you pay for what you get! The cheaper versions are Definitely poorer quality.

3.11.2019

This has 2 separate boards which makes it easier to play the letters and numbers are difficult to see on the lower part of the board and the ships are loose and don't stay in the packing position. It is still a very good game but perhaps a little expensive

An oldy but a goody! We had a lot of fun over Christmas with this classic. Our 10 year old daughter likes it a lot and takes great delight in sinking my battleships. 5 year old is interested and can play with a lot of help.

Travelling game for 8 year old. He loves it. Very happy with purchase. It's not a pocket version, which helps to see clearly yet if you have limited luggage it may be a consideration. Prompt delivery as expected

Being Hasbro I expected a bit more. The section you put the pegs is too small. The divide doesn't go high enough so when moved they mix up. The ship's don't stay in their slots. It works but just messy.

I had one a few years ago and it was great the one I had was electronic and all the sounds I loved it and I could also play on my own against the computer and I am not a youngster a

I love this. My husband often works away and he takes half with him and we play over the phone or what's app. Great way to stay connected, especially if you're competitive!
