Many people will have played the better-known Action/Adventure/RPGs such as Elder Scrolls and even rather different games such as the Fable series. Arcania Gothic 4 is somewhat different from these games, whilst retaining a similar feel. When searching for a new adventure game to play I stumbled on this and was instantly hooked. Though the game may not be as polished as titles such as Elder Scrolls, it remains a brilliant game. It has commonalities with some MMORPGs such as WoW in the style of it's quests, however I find this quite refreshing in a single-player game.The graphics are gorgeous, the map large, the quests many and the number of items seemingly endless. It's nice to see a game that doesn't 'rank'

First and foremost, if you have a powerful gaming PC, this game will look spectacular! I was blown away by how gorgeous everything looked. I grabbed a great deal of screen shots and videos whilst I was playing.I have played a lot of first or third person fantasy role playing games and this one was a nice trade off between the complexity of managing a character and the more visceral action gameplay. I was delighted that there was no limit to what I could carry and the difficulty settings made it easy to get past anything that was too challenging. I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to games these days as I am very busy,

Just to be clear, if you are a big Gothic 3 fan, this is not the sequel you are looking for. What you'll want is a game called Risen.But if you're looking for a nice fairly action oriented RPG to pass the time and like games in this genre like Fable 3 and Two Worlds 2 then you could do a whole lot worse than Arcania. This graphically gorgeous game has quite a good story which will leave you confused at first but after the initial tutorial sections the pieces will start falling in place. Using melee, ranged and magic attacks you dispatch your foes as you travel the world seeking revenge. Your quest takes you from cliffside cities to medieval castles, gigantic trees and ancient temples.

I have previously owned and played Gothic for the PC and enjoyed them, I am an RPG fanatic I guess and when this came out on X-box I pounced on it ! When I first played it it didn't seem to be an entertaining game and once I had completed the map it was over and my gamescore for it was very low. So I played it again and I am still playing it but taking it slower and more adventuring than previously and it suddenly became a very good game that is better played slower and fuller. The graphics are great and there is so much to explore and each time you play it you can change the outcome. Load time is good and plays well.

I've buyed it myself and I will play it all again. I'm not a kid, but an adult of 35 years old, who's a fan of Gothic games. Yes, the originals are way better. But this game deserves more than only 2/10. I find it to much underrated and forgotten. It was the latest try from Jowood, to get out off the costs, they had. Even they have maded somes mistakes, it's still a decent game. Even what other people may say. I've played a whole lot of worse games, than this. Suggestion: play it on "Hard" mode or minimum "normal", but not: "Easy". Or you don't have any challenge. And also: you will not have any help from it's RPG system. So play it hard.

This game was so much better than I expected. Its the sort of game where you have to talk to various characters throughout and they then send you on missions to find stuff and bring it back. Of course as you wander around finding stuff you end up fighting lots of monsters, animals and people. You upgrade the more you do and have little side missions e.g. find ancient relics etc on the way round. I am loving this game and would recommend it to anyone who also likes this type of game. Its also huge and goes on forever which is even better. I'm sure the graphics aren't up to "geek" standard but for me that is no problem!

Good RPG a bit on the basic side and most of the time you get this and go and get that .Good upgrades on equipment etc, dont compare this to other RPG games and you wont be fed up with it .The speech and face graphix are plain and not as good as other games but its different and you will get about 30 hours from it on medium or hard level .If you put it on easy level its easy and you will unlock most of the achievements apart from about 3 but as I said dont expect oblivion/skyrim/Divinity 2 graphics or LA Noire lip sync as its not there but this is good to play .

A rather enjoyable game however once you had finnished it ended no further gameplay like fallout skyrim or most other rpg's i gave this a 4 star for that reason alone if not for that i would still be playing it such a shame they ended it so abruptly after the final storyline quest i do hope this rating gives a jolt to the game studio because it is such a very well designed gamewith immense graphics.

I have never played any previous gothics but i had heard of their superiority over other RPG's. The games graphics are not the best but are playable. The quests are second to one and the world is bigger than oblivion. Some of the voice acting is wooden like Lyrca The witch of the woods !! The main quest keeps you gripped and the weapons and armor variants are great !Good solid RPG

Great game. Ignore the really bad reviews as this game certainly isn't as bad as alot of people make it out to be although having not played any previous gothic games probably makes this game more appealing. It might not be as expansive or as well put together as the high-end rpg's but it is not far behind.

Really like the gothic series of games and enjoyed the fourth instalment. Story, graphics and game play were good just don't expect skyrim because you will be really disappointed. Overall a good enjoyable game.

Quite fun and so far there are a good amount of quests. I also enjoy the options in the dialogue. However I did find that I couldn't tell where to go on the map though because it's so small and quite unclear.

I definitely recommend this game to those who like games like dragon age or dragons dogma it is more like the latter. this game is a little short for my taste but a thrilling game to play

The continuing Gothic story. Brilliant series. Another massive environment to play in. Great graphics and game play. If you like action rpg's this is a must have in your collection.

this might be a game from a few year back, but for the RPG fan its a little gem. Just the right balance of story and action,.well worth the hours of game play you can get out of it
