This is a solidly made metal magnet connector for the old style Apple MacBook power supply to the new style. The magnets are strong and the device works flawlessly, and only adds on 1cm depth to the overall connection.I'm somewhat bemused by people's negative comments on this item. At £9, it makes the power-supply from your old MacBook work perfectly on your new one. In one cupboard we have a whole box of redundant power supplies from a wide range of manufacturers which are not compatible with the next generation products with which we replaced something. I've never seen any of these manufacturers offer an upgrade connector -- usually, when you buy a piece of technology, you don't expect it to work with the old power supply, and, if it does, you certainly don't expect the manufacturer to endorse it or enable it.In any case, this works perfectly for me and I don't really see how it could work any better. The magnet is so strong that it never falls off at the powersupply end, and adheres effectively at the computer end without risking the connection.

Am I the only reviewer with a big screen? Maybe other 27" Thunderbolt display users are to busy to comment. Anyway, I'm a photographer and need (which is what I told the missus) the big screen for my work. Having recently upgraded from a 13" MBP to a 15" MBP Retina I realised that the twin Thunderbolt/power cable from the screen to the Mac wouldn't pass muster with the new machine. Yikes! What now? A new expensive twin cable? Not a bit of it; thank you Apple for making the sort of inexpensive adaptor that the likes of Lenovo, Dell, Sony and whoever wouldn't even remotely consider. And my amazing Thunderbolt display lives on. Hooray! And like other reviewers I shall buy a couple of these adaptors so I can utilise my older,pre-Retina, chargers. No other manufacturer that I know of enables you to use older chargers with new devices. Well done Apple I say! 5 stars from me.

I have a personal MacBook and my job gave me one. When I need to work from home, this little gadget allows me to use my MagSafe power supply with the new MagSafe 2 port without issues. Fits very good on both sides, but its size makes easier to decouple from the Macbook - but that's the same issue I have with the MagSafe 2 power supply. It's very tight on the cord side - one needs a good grip to take it off. But this thing is so small I will eventually lose it if I don't take care.

I have just replaced my trusty, but aged MacBook Pro with a new model and so have the problem of several of the magsafe connectors not fitting. This is a superb little device, which just works. It has a very strong magnetic connection to the old lead. So far it has never dropped off, which was a concern. It just works, perfectly and flawlessly. And while it is quite expensive, it is so much cheaper than replacing redundant power leads.

It seems like an expansive adapter but the Apple Magsafe technology is only supplied by Apple. I''ve bought 2 of these, it was initially less than Apple charged which was a bonus but has now reverted to the same. However one advantage is that delivery is likely to be much faster. This will allow you to use an old laptop adaptor as one for home for less than a tenner. An Apple branded charger is over £50. So it's a no brainer really.

When my Magsafe2 power adapter went faulty I was fortunate to know a friend who had a spare early Magsafe. Unfortunately Apple has changed the male connector. This meant i had to buy the converter. Fortunately it’s a lot cheaper than buying a new Magsafe2 adapter. There are no moving parts, you just pull it out of the box and start using it. Its handy and has a strong magnetic connection.

This allows one to use the old MacBook power supply and cable with the new MacBooks. It fits perfectly, stays in place with a hidden magnet, and does exactly what it is supposed to do. We use the old style MacBook power supply with the adaptor in one workplace, and keep the new power supply in another, so we don't have to drag along a power supply when we go from one to the other.

When I decided to change my old MacBook Pro for a brand new MacBook Air a was disappointed to see that the MagSafe had changed. I had many power cables as I like to keep them at strategic locations around the house, where I am most likely to use the laptop. This adapter allows me to still use the old cables! The magnet is very strong and it is very small and nice.

Having been provided with a MacBook Pro Retina for work, buying one of these has allowed me to leave the original power supply at work, and re-use my own MagSage adaptor at home.Note: it's worth looking at a 'MagCozy' which will enable you to physically attach the convertor to your MagSafe adaptor, keeping it close to hand at all times.

Rather than spending £60 on new charger i was looking for a way to utilize my almost brand new last generation MB Pro charger. Works a treat. If it had a key fob loop on it or something as it is easy to misplace if you have it of the charger... It is not cheap for what it is £9, but better than spending full price on new charger.

Like some other reviewers, I can't help but think that the only reason Apple changed the MagSafe connector was to force us to buy these converters. However, the product itself is fine. It does the job and the strong magnet prevents it from getting easily lost. I just wish I didn't have to buy it in the first place.

If you have a crapload of Magsafe1 PSUs for some reason (I have) and you have upgraded to a Retina Macbook Pro, combine these with the MagCosy holders and you have no need to spend £65 on a new PSU. They don't slip or fall off - they attach securely, and I've had no problems with them so far.

My daughter had her Macbook Air cable stolen at university and finding this little converter meant we could utilise an old cable at minimum expense and downtime. Fraction of the cost of a new cable, arrived same day and does the job. Will probably get another one as a spare.

I bought this to enable me to use an old MacBook Pro charger with my newer MacBook Pro so I could have one charger at work and one at home - it does the job perfectly. Packaging and quality of item supports this being a genuine Apple item as advertised.

I have used this day in and day out without fault. Yes it's expensive for a lump of metal and some switching in the middle but for me it was worth it as it meant I can use my older Apple Display on my new MackBook Pro without the need for extra wires.
