As someone who had never owned or used a kindle before, I thought I should share my experience. The kindle's screen is fine for reading, but one thing that took me by surprise is how unresponsive it is compared to an iPad, it feels like going back to a 90s touchscreen. It is however perfectly usable. Combined with the home button linking directly to the Kindle store rather than your library, it feels clunky to use until you get used to it. It also needs some patience when scrolling through the store, as it can again feel clunky without any 'motion'. Again, this isn't a deal breaker for me, but something to be aware of before buying, it was a bit of a shock after being used to my dad's iPad.The upshot of the screen is the general battery life and also that it is safe to use before going to sleep, and honestly, the tradeoff is definitely worth it, I just wish there was a 'library' button somewhere.Another thing is the 'special offers', they are fine, indeed surprisingly useful on the lock screen, but unfortunately they persist when browsing the device (though not while reading), where they are actually annoying. I am not sure if deleting them will make the kindle run faster. They are generally not intrusive as they are all (so far) Amazon's advertising, and as such is quite low-key.Finally, I'd just like to discuss the various ways of getting books onto the kindle and other devices (I will refer to Ipads only for simplicity, but it applies to all devices).Firstly, you can buy books from amazon itself and they will be available anywhere. I personally haven't done this yet, but there are some books which can be bought for free, they look terrible though.Secondly there is prime reading, which is 1,000 books which you can 'borrow' up to ten with no limit on switching, ie I could return a book, then take another one out and replace it with no consequences. The books in there are not great, as 1,000 books is a surprisingly small number when you have all the genres to cover. They appear to be slightly overweight on the sci-fi and teen romance novels. This is free with primeThirdly, is kindle unlimited at £6.99 a month, which has over a million books, I do not have this, though there appear to be some ok books in it. However most of the books do appear terrible. again it's unlimited borrowing with a maximum of 10 books out at once. Finally there is something called the 'kindle owners' library which I apparently exists, but I can't work out how to use, where apparently Kindles with a prime subscription can borrow 1 book a month from the kindle unlimited selection which can ONLY be used on a kindle (not an iPad).Amazon also randomly offers deals such as 'amazon first reads' this month (July 2019).Finally, I do like my kindle, but for long reading sessions, I still prefer paper, but it is nice to use prime reading before bed, which easily justifies the £80 I spent to buy this (prime day offer), as I don't sleep too well as I had too much temptation with the iPad.

While I have never purchased an official case with previous generations of the kindle I felt as I got such a great deal on my latest one that I would spend the extra money. Was it worth it?Well it has mostly positives from me, the kindle fits in easily and perfectly and the case has a nice feel to it when you are reading which is very important. The magnets although can be seen if held up to the light will close and keep closed when shut and will automatically turn on when opened. (Not sure if it's the new kindle but you will need to swipe up once it's awake which I never had to do on my previous generation)Any Negatives?Well some minor ones, while the case fits well the power switch barely sticks out past the end of the case, this could potentially be an issue if dropped. The magnets although close and hold the case are weak compared to other cases. It will hold but it's super easy to flip open. I would have liked more of a choice in colours although I am happy with the yellow.PositivesThe magnets will hold should you want to have the flap at the back, it actually holds more stronger than when closed. The water resistance is a nice feature and water just rolls off the material. I love the feel of the plastic sides; they are smooth and comfortable. The Amazon logo looks good at the bottom right and it's slightly Embossed to the touch and is also Engraved on the reverse which is a lovely feature.I am overall pleased with my purchase; the comfort alone makes this worthwhile and I am pleased I spent the extra money.

I would actually prefer a good quality leather cover but none seem available. The one leather option from Amazon is plasticised/adulterated so that it apparently looks, feels and ages just like plastic. The other is brown (suede?) which apparently deteriorates super quick (I don't mind the distressed look but it should take years to develop not weeks). For comparison: my iPhone 7 leather case, now 4 years old, is black and super high-quality top grain leather with no plastic layer applied (shame on you Amazon), it still looks really good. I wanted something similar for my Kindle! But alas, if I cannot have real leather, then I would rather have real cloth (instead of 'fake' or poor-quality leather). This case is amazing quality for what it is and the fact that it wakes up/puts to sleep the Kindle is a massive bonus. I don't like strong magnets (not good for compasses or sensitive mechanical devices like wristwatches; and prone to collecting magnetic dust) but no other closures were unfortunately available. Some reviews mentioned the magnets "coming through" the cloth so time will tell how reliable this case will be, but first impressions are very good.

Bought this kindle to replace my original keyboard kindle which was one of the first made and which I loved but which unfortunately just stopped working one day.My old one had built in 3G which obviously the new ones don’t, which is a great shame as it was so useful when travelling as it’s not always possible to have WiFi access.I had hundreds of books stored on my kindle, all under various collections, and although I was able to retrieve all my books the collections were not transferable so I had to start from scratch.I also don’t find this as easy to navigate as the old kindle and given the choice I would choose the original kindle over this one. However, I still love having a kindle and this one is nice and slim,is anti glare so I can read it in the sun, is waterproof - should I ever need it to be? And I can read it in the dark without a light. So yes I would recommend it, especially to people who think they could never give up their paper books.I used to think the same but have been a convert now for several years as kindles are just so compact and portable. No more packing all those paperbacks in your case when you go on holiday!

This cover for the new Paperwhite Kindle fits like a glove. It's easy to put on and moderately easy to remove if you feel like reading your Kindle without the case. The blue colour is a lovely jewel tone - it looks just like it does on the picture. It's the same as the fabric for the Fire HD cases so if you've already got one of those, you will know what you are getting. The flap which covers the screen when not in use is a very soft material which provides good protection. It also feels nice if you read with the cover folded right back (magnets will keep it out of the way when you do this). The sleep/wake function works well with this case and hidden magnets help to keep it closed. The top and bottom edges of the Kindle are exposed in this case - something to be aware of but nothing to worry about. And it means you can easily access the charging port even with the cover closed. The Amazon designed accessories are always fairly expensive but in my experience, they are worth the price. They fit beautifully and last well. Highly recommended!

Love the eReader. It gets 5 stars as it really makes books easy to read, is easy to set up and allows you to read in comfort without eye fatigue. I also got an Amazon cover for it which makes it book like in appearance and it auto turns on when I open the lid. Battery life with 1-2 hours a day lasts about 7-10 days and the settings are easy to change, set up.Needed to take time to get to navigate the full-screen mode with menu call by tapping the top of the screen. The book read for me is smooth with a swipe left but some folks like the button. Also, if you overpress the screen (+3-4 seconds), it jumps 3-4 pages which I assume is a flick forward function. It can put you off your read as you have to track back to where you left off. Keeping your fingers off the touch screen is thus advisable. All in all, it's a valued device I have, wifi makes book buys simple as does the email set up where Amazon email your handset with a new purchase. It also interfaces with Goodreads making the basic browser on it useful.

Brilliant cover. I've had mine for 3 months now and have no complaints.I went for the yellow option & it's the perfect shade of sunshine yellow. (Makes it easy to find in my backpack as well)Magnets in the cover make it food on itself with ease, and doesn't hinder your grip.I especially liked the micro-fibre lining on the inside. You know your Kindle is protected from scratches while it's closed, and it's heavy, sonit won't fly open in your bag ether.Haven't tested the waterproof features, I'm not that daring! The texture is lovely as well. Feels like a real book under your fingertips.

If you're buying a new Kindle it's always a good idea to buy a decent case to go with it, to protect it etc. Initially I purchased the leather version of this case but it was quite expensive and it just didn't feel that well made, so I ordered the black fabric version instead.I have to say this is pretty decent quality case and fits the Kindle Paperwhite Generation 10 perfectly. My only criticisms are that the case is quite expensive when you compare it to the cost of the Kindle itself and also there's not many colours to choose from, with charcoal being probably the nicest looking.

I wasn't happy using my new Kindle Paperwhite without a case - I was forever switching it on and off by accident and it just seemed harder to keep a firm grip on than my old 2011 Kindle, which I loved but had to replace as the battery would no longer hold a charge. Hence the case purchase. It's a ridiculous price for some plastic and fabric, but it is very smart looking, fits perfectly, and turns the Kindle on and off when opened or closed. I bought the blue which is a lovely colour and very nice to the touch.

A slim case that feels good to hold and looks attractive (black/grey colour). Screen wake function works well.I've not had the case very long but there is a little bit of wear on the edges already, and I will have to see if this becomes easily noticeable/unattractive in time. The case is quite hard to get on/off, sticks very close to Kindle. Fine if you are leaving it on 24/7, which is normal for a case. This product is maybe a bit pricey - I will have to see how the quality holds up over time.

Very high quality surfactant material on the outside, softer material on the inside which is comfortable to the touch. The kindle perfectly slots into the case and holds firmly. The case holds open by utilising a magnetic connection between the front and back, allowing you to hold the device comfortably without the cover getting in the way. The case does add some extra girth and weight, but nothing too extreme. Overall, for the high price you get what you pay for and I am extremely pleased!

Excellent fit for the new Kindle Paperwhite. Which is no surprise as it is the official Amazon product - hence the rather high price. Unlike previous cases this adds very little bulk to the Kindle. Best feature is the magnetic catch that switches the Kindle screen on and off as you open and close the case. The case is also water proof to support the water resistance of the new Paperwhite.Argos click and collect via local Sainsbury's was the easiest way to buy this at short notice.

Fantastic kindle. I love it. My only gripe is the fact that the power button has been placed on the bottom edge of the Kindle, so fairly frequently whilst I hold it supported by a finger I accidentally turn it off. Next design, please move the button to the top where the kindle never gets held. Quite how the foolish placement of that button got signed off is a mystery. Such a simple mistake ruins what would otherwise be a 5 star bit of kit.

Not being the brightest button in the techno-box there was a hint of dread when my old Kindle died after five years of constant use. I decided on the latest paperwhite replacement and the transition was a seamless operation. Also added the new charcoal fabric cover that puts the Kindle to sleep at night to keep it clean and safe. All my books have been transferred to the new device without a hiccup and I'm delighted with them both.

Excellent device! I was in between the Oasis 2019 and this...but after sone research I decide to go with this one mainly for its portability! Is lightweight and easy to hold (especially for those with bigger palms). I wish it had the light temperature adjustment like the Oasis but other than that its just what I needed!! Super happy with it even though sometimes it does freeze and needs a forced restart (not too often though)...
