I bought this for my daughter's 5th Birthday as she is a bit of a drama queen. The idea of the game is great and some of the things you have to do are hillarious. We have played with 3 generations, I was almost hysterical when my 73 year old mother-in-law had to perform 5 press-ups on one occasion and touch her toes on another (she managed to do that, fair play)!Basically there are three categories of tasks:1 Who am I?: - the player has to pretend to be something (like a ballet dancer, aeroplane, cat etc) without making any noise and everyone has to guess what they are.2 Make a noise: without moving or speaking the player has to hum a tune or make the noise of, say,an animal and they other players must guess what it is.3 Actions: - where you simply have to do what is written (hop, touch your toes etc), no-one has to guessIf the player can't/won't perform that task, or no-one guesses correctly they have to take a forfeit. These are often things like move back a few spaces. The particular forfeit is on the back of each card, only visible with the use of the red acetate "decoder".I did enjoy this game however I would question the advertised age range. At 5 years old my daughter struggled to read "pretend to be riding a horse" and "hum the tune oranges and lemons" silently to herself. With help she did enjoy playing.

We love this game and have played it almost daily for the last month. The game lasts a good amount of time. It is not finished too quickly as sometimes games for young children can be.There is a good range of activities. Who am I (e.g. gardener or astronaut), make a noice (e.g. hum or whistle The Grand Old Duke of York), action (e.g. hopscotch around the room), forfeits (e.g. keep your hands on your head until your next move). My children are not naturally inclined to drama or performance, but this suits them really well. When they land on a square with no activity, they groan, "Oh no, boring." We always end up playing more than one game.Particularly thinking about how to do the "who am I" mimes is a good challenge of independent thinking for young children. Some of the activities are more active than others, but it does get you up on your feet, moving around acting, dancing or miming sporting moves. We found this very funny to play and it is very interactive. For kids who like fiddly little gadgets, there is a spinner included, a little shaker cup for rolling the dice, and a magic decoding tool for reading the hidden forfeits.

I bought this game for my 5 year old granddaughter as a Christmas gift. She and the family absolutely love it. All play from the youngest [3, with assistance from an adult] to a 13 year old boy....not forgetting the adults who either make up the numbers or assist a younger child with the reading of the cards. The game is fast, and fun, it involves all with the silly antics from the action cards. Now on an evening to encourage getting ready for bed a game is played cos it is fast and the children love it so do what they must in order to playApart from the educational benefits, reading, acting, already described, I believe games like these teach young children co-operation,sharing and learning how to lose gracefully.Prior to the games aimed at the youngest, if they lost in a game there were tantrums. Those tantrums have lessened dramatically since playing a 'family game'

First thing to note is the price. Oh Boy Amazon are no longer the place to go for a bargin hey!!!!! rip off!!!Not worth the £18...but certainly happy to fork out £12 of my hard-earned for something like this. Its good fun. Unlike so many kids games, all the 'classics', I find Orchard games albeit mostly just card/board games - but they do have an appeal. And this one is one of the better ones to be honest.I agree with most of the positive reviews for this game. Worth getting...but not for more than £12 !!NOTE: If your child can't read yet then the game doesnt really work. It's for ages 5 - adult..but really your child needs to be able to read..because you have to READ the card ( in secret so to speak )to be able to perform some of the actions/sounds...so bit of a flaw..or at the very least..up the age range.

I bought this for my ESL learners. I would have preferred less songs for the 'make a sound' cards. Many of the songs are well-known nursery rhymes but some choices weren't that successful or educationally correct. The cards are not very durable either. And neither is the magic decoder. Which means that you need to monitor the game's use with younger learners. However, the forfeit idea will motivate even the more introvert players and in general I think ESL learners can have fun with this game if you take the time to modify it a bit to your needs and stick to small groups of children. You can totally avoid too much competition too. Which helps build a stress-free environment.

I brought this game for my son for christmas and we have had it out loads of times. Both he (5 years) and my daughter of 3 really enjoy making the noises and doing the mimes to get around the board (as do me and my husband). There are of course some things that they don't know, but we just skip to another card. It will definitely last them years as they grow and are finally able to read the instructions themselves! We haven't even had any issues when they loose, and as the forfeits aren't all bad (some say move forward a few spaces) they don't even mind that. A really good game for all the family and one that mom and dad won't be bored playing again and again.

We bought this game as 'Santa' present for our 5 year old daughter. We played it on Christmas Day and enjoyed it so much that we played it with the grandparents on Boxing Day too. It was a real hit!Our daughter is learning to read and managed to read most of the instructions on the cards herself, then carry out the instructions, so this is definitely fine for a 5 year old. Our 8 year old son enjoyed it too, especially carrying out the activities. We (the parents) & our parents all enjoyed the game, so it is a good all rounder for family fun. We're really glad we read about this on Amazon, as we'd never heard of it before. A fantastic purchase all round!

You cannot go wrong with orchard- well thought out and well made. This is great for 3- 103 yr olds- I really enjoyed playing it too. It can be adapted for younger children and as its so easy to get the hang of what to do, can be played without an adult for slightly older ones (6+). Its sturdy so can survive rough play. It is a 'work your way round the board' game with tasks and forfeits on the way. I have to say that the hidden forfeit that you can see with the red 'wand' (transparent red plastic) is a stroke of genius as the kids love that bit!The game play is about 10-15 minutes so no-one is going to get bored

We love What A Performance - the game is great fun and easy to grasp for the children, whilst remaining enjoyable for the parents. We've had one or two tantrums (notably one game where my youngest managed to hit the forfeit square twice with her first two rolls of the dice) but overall the game is very much enjoyed. It's even become a delaying tactic before going to bed, as the girls know that they have half a chance of convincing us to squeeze a quick game in before bathtime! The board and associated bits and pieces are well put together and feel of good quality. All in all, there's nothing not to like!

This is a great game for all girls or little performers. Each time you roll the dice you have to perform a song, or a dance or something. Our 6 year old loves it and we enjoy playing it with her. I have bought this gameas a gift for other friends children too.My only criticism is the price. Amazon do tend to be amongst the cheapest butsometimes you can pay around £10 for it, and other times nearer £15 for the samegame. At Christmas last year it went up to nearly £30. Next time I see it at a goodprice £10 or less I am going to buy a couple and put them away for future birthdaygifts.

Bought for my son's 7th birthday, and has been a hit with all the family. The level of activities is exactly right for this age, and he can read all of the tasks himself - he especially loves to use the special magnifying glass to read the hidden forfeits. My 4 year old also loves to play, but of course sometimes needs tips on how to act out different professions, eg fireman, belly dancer, pilot. Great fun to watch grandpa bouncing round the room pretending to be a rabbit! Doesn't take too long to complete a game, under half an hour. Great purchase

This was a Christmas present for my grandson who is nearly 8. I can't comment on the quality as it was delivered direct and I haven't been able to see it for myself. However, I'm sure my daughter would have told me if there was anything amiss. All I can say is that I have seen 2 videos of him acting out the directions on the cards. They were hilarious and he was having a fabulous time. He absolutely loves this game. His 5 year old brother does not have the attention span for traditional board game but he really enjoys this too. A very good buy.

We bought this for my 8 year old daughter and she loves it. It is a great game that gets all players involved my 4 year old likes to play aswell although we do play in pairs when she plays as she needs help to read the cards. they love the forfits on the back of the cards because you have to use the red eyeglass to decode them. the actions are not too difficult to perform which helps to keep them interested to finish the game. overall we are impressed with this game and would recommend it to others.

We bought this game for our 5 year old, as we have another Orchard Toys game which is excellent. It has been the hit of the year. We have to modify the rules a little to enable our 5yo to play, as his reading isn't yet good enough to play without a little help, but we are getting continual requests to play the game as a family (9yo and Mum and I all happy to be involved.) Grandma played it, and is now thinking of buying copies for her brothers to play with their grandchildren. Highly recommended.

I bought this for my 5 and 6 year old children as a board game to play in lockdown and they love it. to move round the board you have to pick a card and act it out (like charades), do it or say it, if you don't do it in the correct time or other players cannot guess if the guess cards then you have to do a forfeit. Lots of activities within the game and would be suitable for the whole family. Can be played with four players or with teams for more players. I would recommend this game.
