I've been using M5 for a while and really like the size/performance, but always hankered after a full frame camera, so was dissapointed the Eos R is so expensive and limited (no proper 4k etc), so this looked a good alternative, to use my M5 with EF lenses and get full frame performance.Initial impressions were good, and definitely the 1.1 crop is much nicer than normal 1.6, but a couple of niggles, I understand adapter drains battery even if camera is switched off, so has to be removed when not in use, more annoying is that the adaptor stops focus retract when camera is powered off, so 50mm F1.8 STM which is a very common lens becomes very annoying to use,as you have to manually retract the lens every time you want to switch camera off - with all the cheap EFM-EOS normal adapters I've tried (Meike, Andoer and Canon) the lens automatically retracts when camera is switched off, so don't understand how Viltrox missed this. Not sure if this is something they can fix in firmware, given firmware is up to 1.3 (I've checked/updated adapter and it doesn't fix this), I suspect not.UPDATE: the 50mm autopark issue is resolved in 1.4 firmware, not yet on Viltrox website but if you email [email protected] they reply very quickly with the update file, hopefully it will be on website soon, update is super easy, just plug in micro usb cable, adaptor pops up as a removable drive and drag update file into it and it restarts/pops up again empty to confirm update completed.

I have a Olympus OMD EM10 III and also an old 35mm Canon camera.I forked out a substantial amount on lenses in the 2002 just to be overtaken by the digital revolution on cameras. Now finally I bought a lens adaptor to try and use my Canon lenses. It was important for me to be able to have auto focus and that the camera works with the lens without any major issues. It works for my EF 28-135mm just fine and even the EF 28-105 works despite not being on the list of supported lenses.I ran some test for clarity and as an amateur I can not spot any lens issues on the pictures.Yes auto-focus is sometimes a bit slow but again I did not expect the same performance as with Olympus lenses.I am very happywith the product and I can reuse my old lenses.TBH those big lenses are heavy and for a "day out" I'd probably use the original Olympus lenses so I don't have to carry the weight. For a bit more experimental picture taking I certainly would use the big Canon lenses.Best of both worlds really.Anyway the adaptor worked out of the box with my combination of camera and lenses and even though there is a firmware update available I did not install it on the grounds the "if it works why fix it"A bit on the expensive side but I don't regret my purchase.

Works from a single moment you plug your lens inn! my F.4 became F2.8 that just changes the game and I in love with my 24-105 once again. Sadly on M4/3, it became 34-115. But I don't mind for super-wide shots you still are forced to buy M4/3 14MM lens as to get L series 14mm we talking about fish eye 8mm lens which is pricey. Definitely do not recommend to by metabones as back in 2018 metabones most expensive speed booster was 300-400£ when today its 400-800£ just because of GH5 and Black Magic Pocket cameras. Which means they are trying to pull of from people double the price. When Viltrox came in and showed the real cost of a speedbooster I would easy pay 200£ for it as It even feels like that. The only advantage metabones have at the moment is 0.61x speedbooster which gives you extra 5mm more wider shots so in this case 24mm with Viltrox 0.71 it becomes 34 with metabones 0.61 it would be 29mm but price for 5mm 150£ against 650£. I do see comments from people that they lenses didint work or smth I believe its nothing do with speedbooster it might be that your lens conectors are demaged, as photographers are always changing lenses. Anyway definetly RECOMMEND SPECIALY FOR BLACK MAGIC CPC4K USERS AS IM ONE OF THEM.

I am currently using this adapter with a Fuji X-T3 and a Canon EF 40mm 2.8 STM. I had previously used it with an X-H1 and the performance was good/ok so figured it would be better with the more advanced auto focus system of the X-T3, HOWEVER, on the latest firmware 2.29 (Viltrox that is) it was very poor. After some digging around on DPREVIEW forums I found the older version 2.26 and rolled back the firmware which has dramatically improved things. The X-T3 is on the latest firmware 4.10 and Auto focus is now very quick and accurate - on parr with native Fuji lenses. Viltrox have a long way to go in terms of tech support.I don’t understand why the newer firmware would make things worse and why they don’t provide older versions of firmware on their website like Fuji do because you might well need them! Aside from this, image quality is brilliant with no loss of sharpness. For me, the wider field of view and shallower depth of field is worth every penny. Just be warned that performance varies depending on camera/firmware combination.

Great full frame “like” speedbooster, used specifically for professional looking video conferencing paired with an canon m50 mk2 and Ef 50mm stm lens. Have tried it out for some photography as a checker and has produced exactly what you would expect with the extra stop of light it adds to your lens, and hasn’t slowed or altered the auto focus at all. If your starting out in photography and don’t have the budget for a full frame body, this is a fantastic start point. Or if like me your job has become entirely working from home, then this is a stunning conference camera setup that gives a very professional feel to your calls.

I wanted to use one of my wide angle Canon EF lenses on a Canon M6 for a particular project. The EF lens has a constant f4 and is 17mm at it's wide setting which would become 27.2mm on an APS C camera, using this Viltrox speed booster has given me almost 17mm on the M6 but as importantly, has pushed the speed up to f2.8 an excellent result. Having only just got it, my test shots in daylight have shown no noticeable image degredation but time will tell when used under more testing conditions. That said though, I can't see why there should be any noticeable problems.

In years past I had a Canon original adapter - but gave away all my EF and EF-S lenses and the adapter with it. Recently, I wanted to get back to some of the EF offerings with my Canon EOS M5 - and thought I'd try the bargain option!Build Quality is great - feels very solidly built - fits both camera and lens perfectly and feels very secure. AF and EXIF data all work exactly as expected.I am a strongly loyal Canon user - but I just can't find any reason to fork out four times as much money for basically the same fit and functionality.

What a great piece of kit, if like us you don’t or can’t warrant the Canon Price then this won’t disappoint.... No need for any technical review as nothing technical about it, fit to camera then fit EF or EFS lenses ideally canon as third party lenses can cause issues! And of you go take shots till your hearts content.... nothing more nothing less. ( yes AF is slow, but that’s no different then Canons own adapter, it really comes down to the lens....But hey that’s what manual focus is for).

Packaged really well, with care, performs as expected with no notable difference in image quality. If there is you're pixel peeping and no one in the real world does that, not even a client.Love the extra stop of light I get, using the 70-200 f4 I now have a 70-200 f2.8 which is awesome.Auto focus works just fine, accurate, can be a little jumpy every now and then but really nothing of issue. Worth the money, well worth getting.

I just got myself a Canon M50 but as a videographer I have so many efs lenses. I didn't want to spend £100+ for the canon one as photography is not my main income so I bought this viltrox to try and it works. Focus with confidence (never tested video as I don't care).Of course there is a small play between the adapter and the body and the adapter and the lens but I don't mind at all as long it will work for some time.

It does work and I like the fact that you have a tripod mount that keep things nicely balanced on a tripod. I am using Canon EF(S) lenses on Fuji x-e3. When you get focus it is quick and precise but I have found that focussing can be problematic with close subjects, worse with some lenses than others and tricky in low light. For me it's a good stop-gap until I get more x series lenses - a pretty good product over all.

I bought this product thinking it was the speed booster version, unfortunately it's not so I sent it straight back for a refund and bought the speed booster version. So I cannot review this product fully although I will say it looked and felt sturdy although I never fitted it to my camera as I knew it wasnt the version i wanted.Amazon took the return no problem and refunded in full.

I bought this adaptor so I could use Canon EF lenses on my Canon M50, without having a large crop factor. This adaptor reduces the 1.6 crop factor, associated with mirrorless cameras, by 0.71, bringing a Nifty Fifty, down to 56.8mm, from 80mm. Much nearer to the full frame equivalent. I recommend this adaptor for anyone with an M50, who wants to use EF lenses, with a minimal crop.

This works better than I thought it would.I have some Canon EF lenses from about 20 years ago knocking around and they all work fine on my XT2 and X Pro2.The adaptor works so well in fact, that I think I will get more Canon EF glass like the 24mm 1.4 to use with the adaptor. There are also more long telephoto options with Canon, Tamron and Sigma too by using this adaptor.

I use this with my TS-e lenses with no vignetting. It works really well with my 85mm f1.2L lens too and the software in the camera allows you to lighten the slight darkening. You have the option on the camera to use 35mm format so there's no vignetting at all then but you only use about 30 megapixels rather than the cameras full 50.
