? ‘The Dual Brush Pen is a water-based marker with water-soluble ink that can be blended and diluted with water. It features a brush tip and a fine point bullet tip’.IMO, you generally get what you pay for when it comes to this type of product and experience, the type of work, paper texture & grade all play a part.Usually a Goldilocks type of moment for me, some are too hard and/or scratchy, some too soft and some well…maybe just about right. For that reason, I always ‘try it & see’, when there is the opportunity to buy a single item because it can be an expensive hobby! It was like being back in time in a sweetie shop, exploring the 100+ different colours in this range and I absolutely love this…the colour, the way the two tips work and I hope Santa will be thinking of a couple more, next month (at the time of writing)! One end is a flexible soft brush-like tip for a more sweeping stroke, with the other one handy for when more definition is required. The tips have held without splaying or fraying and there is no sign of the pen running dry, in my experience so far.ooOoo~ TOMBOW~ ABT DUAL BRUSH PENCOLOUR: PORT RED/757‘Made in Vietnam’ooOooLarger than most in my kit, the dual-ended pen measures around 19 cm in length and is elegant in black with white contrast. The coloured cap at one end and the opposite end ‘stripe’ next to the thin cap is indicative of the colour shade within, especially useful if you have more than one. The COLOUR NAME is not on the item. There is no shirt clip but a little ridge on the large cap (image below refers) stops the rigid plastic-type, round barrelled pen from rolling around the table. The caps handily fit over or slides in the other end for safe keeping, when in use. Both caps pull off and return with a satisfactory click. It is wise to take some time replacing the cap centrally so as not to damage the tips. There is no scent in use, to my nose.Online clips are available to show the versatility of this product, far better than I can, and it is possible to download a colour wheel from the manufacturer website, also at the time of writing.Believed to be correct at the time of writing, the complete colour chart is:CODE ~ COLOUR NAMEN00 ~

This was included as part of 3 free sample pens sent to me by Tombow Europe as I heaped praise on their Process Yellow 055 from the same range.I would call this a deep shade of pink. I tried using it to colour in a face in one of my adult colouring books but I think I would need a lighter shade as using the Derwent Water Brush over the colour failed to lighten it to what I required. However, that said, this pen should not be used to shade 'skin' in my opinion and is made as such. For example, if you were to colour in flowers or something you wanted a brighter but darker shade of pink then this is the shade for you. If you possess the Staedtler Triplus pens there is a colour similar to this in that set,but the beauty of the Tombow is its versatility. Fine nib for fiddly bits and the brush for less detailed work. I do tend to use the brush more than the nib though but I guess that is personal preference.Because of the huge range of Tombow pens I will probably find the shades I require rather than trying to create them using a waterbrush. I am not that confident in this area of colouring but I should imagine I would improve given practice.

I bought this pen as my first ever brush pen and I found it really difficult to get the hang of because the pen is supposed to be used for large lettering (I didn't know that until I became brush lettering obsessed) and I was trying to write small. The brush split after about 2-3 weeks of using it so after that the lettering didn't look nice. The small nib on the other side is alright to use but leeks through paper. If you're a beginner I would 100% go for the Tombow Fudenoskue until you learn how to do brush lettering. They're also a lot cheaper than the Tombow dual pen. Overall, good pen, bit pricey, would buy again. (Also in my opinion, Tombow is the best brand).

Started using this today as soon as it was delivered. Still practising and have a LONG way to go but couldn't help but notice how quickly the tip started fraying. Looked online for advice and it's recommended to use soft paperTherfore have been using my Rhodia which I believe to be excellent quality and not at all harsh/course. Still hasn't stopped pen from fraying. Quite disappointed as the reviews seemed promising (ignored many of the 1/2 star reviews as they're quite unfair - pens not arriving etc). Still have this 4 stars as it is quite pigmented and flows nicely. I've ordered the pack of 10 from the States so maybe they'll perform better?

It is a very good product for beginners such as myself who are interesting in modern calligraphy or hand lettering. However the tips becomes frayed easily when used on wrong paper and that is something you should be wary of.Brush Tip:Pros: It is very flexibleInk in opaque and cleanGood Product for beginnersCons: the tip is easily frayed, so you may need to use more expensive higher quality paper - I recommend HP Laser-jet paperIt may be hard to control at firstI have not used the felt tip much so I cannot write a good review for that.

This is a review for the transparent blending pen by the way, the reviews seem to be for all to coloured pens. At first, I thought I wasn't going to be able to get on with it because on NORMAL paper the pen grates up the paper and you get white blobs and it also spreads out and bleeds into the page and looks horrid. I had to purchase some WATERCOLOUR PAPER and hey presto... It works beautifully. I have only just started experimenting but I am excited about the options I now have to blend my Calligraphy colours.

I've just started doing a bullet journal and everybody goes on about this pen. It does write beautifully and the ink icon very black. It's perfect for drama in your bujo!Experience is required when writing with this, takes a few hours practice to get the hang of it. Also, be aware this pen will be suitable for large bullet headers, you won't be able to write smaller with this unless you're a pro. 4 star as I'm new to this but am sure it will be upgrades as I get more comfortable and skilful.

unlike others I don't use it for calligraphy, mine sucks, so I use it draw stuff or highlight things on my bullet journal. if you are beginner and just practicing calligraphy don't buy these ones as they are pricey in the UK / Europe, if you import them directly from Jap, you'll pay less but there's that waiting time. There are loads of cheaper alternatives for beginners. The colour variety is mind blowing. This has a double side so you use one for lettering and fill it with the otherside

This pen can be used either before or after laying down the colour. It acts like watercolour in that it can push colour away and lift colour out rather than blending it to a fade, so I would advise practising first before using it on your masterpiece. It is very saturating, and can cause bleeding over the lines you have drawn, so I would also advise caution if you are going right up to the edges of a line. A good quality thick watercolour paper seems to work better and avoids pilling.

As someone who's new to calligraphy, This pen was a little difficult to use but once you get it you will create some amazing work. The pen has 2 ends. One that is a small nib, this is the easiest of the two to use. The other end is more of a brush and can be hard to guide. I found curls harder with this end. I used the nib end to write the letter then I used the brush end to thicken some lines. This worked and I created some beautiful writing pieces

I love this duo brush. Personally I am slow using longer brush end, but i think because I am learning to do the calligraphy with it, which is new to me. It is very smooth to write with. I have heard best to practice with other products, but will see how i go. It certainly looks good in my journal what I wrote the other day. I am looking forward to practicing my calligraphy techniques and all being well will buy an assortment of colours. Thank you

I was looking for a pen to use for live caricature work at parties and events (Beefy's Caricatures). The pen is comfortable to use and you can get some lovely variations of weight to your line work, but I found the brush a bit to flexible. I had to really lightly sweep the paper which I didn't like (I prefer a firm nib) and the ink dried out pretty quick. I still have a couple in my bag for emergencies, but not my fave pen.

I'd seen loads of people online raving about these pens so I decided to get one to try as a beginner. Overall, they’re not as easy to use as videos make out. Personally I find the brush end difficult to use. The thicker brush end is quite hard to write with but when you can angle it well it writes very nicely. The thinner end is really easy to use as a felt tip pen but slightly thinner. Good colour and value for money.

As someone who's neverused a brush pen before, this pen is amazing for beginners. The brush side of the pen is flexible and easy to use without loosing control of the brush movement. However, the felt tip end is slightly hard at the beginning. But like any other pen, it starts to get easier to use the more u use it.For the price it is and how fast they get here, it is fair to say that they are worth buying.

I bought this to use for my bullet journal and I've tested it out before using it in the actual journal and it writes very smoothly and having a hard tip on one end and the brush tip on the other is great as I can use it for a range of different things. Would recommend, especially if it's your first time using a more professional brush pen it's a great one to make up your mind for future purchases of more.
