I wanted to get rid of the large Freezer 13 I had in my gaming box in the front room but wanted to make sure this was not going to increase the noise. Naturally you think this must be loud and reviews are hit and miss.This thing is very well made and the quality is what you're paying for, all metal, balanced as well before being boxed so that the metal whine is kept to a minimum. You need to do some fan tuning to get this right as it runs between 1500-2500rpm so for me the fan speed started at 65% which is silent. During load its still, silent. Whatever whine is usually mentioned is not audible through a case so only with an open case would this be slight problem.It idles at 30 degrees on my 9400F Hex Core at 3.9ghz.

It keeps my Intel® Core™ i7-4785T CPU from overheating very well.I haven't noticed temperature higher than 45°C when working on usual office tasks.
