There are two almost identical versions of this game, both on sale at Amazon. The only visible difference is the Mastertronic logo (that is this one) or the Ubisoft logo (the other one). This one requires Steam, the Ubisoft version does not. I often use Steam but for this game I would strongly recommend the Ubisoft version though it's fractionally more expensive. The game is dated of course, having been released in 2002, but it still holds up well, especially if you mod it. This is a good guide to modding it: http://morrowind2009.wordpress.com/. Most of his links are to PES and don't work but you can get most of them from http://mw.modhistory.com/ and http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/.Also he gives vital advice on making sure you have the right patches as the original game has lots of bugs. It's also worth looking at this site which is hilarious (but rude) and has lots of good advice on mods: http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html#morrowind_patchedAs to the game, the lore and history have a sophistication beyond any game I have experienced (fans of Planescape Torment make similar claims but I found it too dated to play). As you progress you read various reports and mini-books about the history and the background to the unfolding events, you see different perspectives. Right and wrong are not clear. Even the facts are in dispute. Whoever masterminded this deserves a medal. Most novels don't present such a richly ambiguous view of their world.Games seem to follow a long term trend towards offering faster progress. It is as though the market has become progressively less patient. You may therefore find that Morrowind feels slow. For example some of the quests on the main path require finding not one item but several different ones in different parts of the world, and some of these will spawn multiple subquests, all of which require travelling to different places by foot. It you don't like this there are several mods to consider - All boat ports, All silt strider ports, Multiple teleport marking, and Run faster.

This is third in the Elder scrolls series, and coincidentally my third favourite of them.Oblivion is gloriously great. There are issues with the levelling up system, but you can work out how to fix them, and when you do, it's the best of the Elder Scrolls games. There's a bug, but there's a fix for it on the web. I have finished it a couple of times, and restarted it before completing it dozens of times, I still play it occasionally it is just that great.Skyrim is very, very good, the levelling up system is simpler and faster than in Oblivion, and there are dragons. There are a lot of dragons. All in all, it's the second best Elder scrolls game for me.Then comes Morrowind. It's difficult, and slow. There is a huge amount to do. The levelling up system is more complicated and slower that in Oblivion, and as a result Morrowind perhaps does not need the fix you can apply to Oblivion, but if you know that, it still works. Other than that, Morrowind is great, and still unfinished for me, I need to finish it sometime. This version is Steam powered, which means you can play it without having the disk in your CD drive, if you already use steam it's as simple to use as that, though I did have to install it as compatible to Windows XP (I'm running Windows 7 64bit).

I just thought I would post a troubleshooter for those who are having problems with the description and Steam.I understand your apprehension especially when it comes to installing software, you didn't anticipate would be needed. Especially with programs like EA's Origin. But to try and reassure you, Steam is generally stable and safe.Once you've installed the Steam client software, you can access your account 'offline' and play your games offline.1) When you start your computer or Steam you'll see a login screen pop-up. Initially you must type in your user name and password, you don't need to register any payment information. Once you're done you can sign-in offline, you'll see an error message that says: (could not connect to steam servers) there should be a 'field' that says 'start in offline mode'I've uploaded pictures to help.2) If you are having difficulties moving save files I suggest going into the game folder located here: C:\programfiles(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\morrowind(look for the folder for saved games and then copy the files over, that should work)

Ok firstly, if you played Skyrim before this good luck. The game is very good, and fun, you have to fully immerse yourself to get the full benefit, and be ready to die...alot. The graphics are very out dated, but you can improve them with graphic overhaul mods, from nexus. Also wait until Skywind comes out, it will make the game look beautiful without losing the Morrowind feel. In short this is a great game and worth the price.

I have already played this game (lent from a friend) and I have spent countless hours enjoying it. It is a whole new world for exploration. Everything is taken care of; from language, history, concept, scenario, characters e.t.c What more to say. A must have for explorers, rpg funs. It can also be greatly modded (see overhaul) and has a great community support of fans, developers e.t.c

I grew up with this game on the original Xbox. I may be slightly biased since I love this game so much, but honestly if you're the type of gamer who likes RPGs, a good story line with full quests, and can get past the dated graphics, you will (hopefully) love this game. It has its pros and cons just like the other TES games, but it's not one to miss out on.

Game is great.Had to download steam to activate it and download couple of files though. As for delivery I used prime for same day delivery but received it next day as it came from Scotland, although arriving in local amazon warehouse at midday the day I ordered it.Anyway brand new , well packaged. No problems on windows 7 pro

It was not what we thought my husband has a new computer and trying to find games to go on Windows 8 is like trying to find a needle in a haystack plus the fact he had his mid life crisis at the age of 60 when he started playing games on Nintendo/Tablet/Computer until the never intended to learn

Morrowind is a brilliant game. A huge and detailed open world fantasy RPG.Please note however that the mastertronic copy here is a steam edition, meaning steam must be downloaded, and it does not come with the construction set (for modders) or the game map/manual expected in a TES game.

I liked this game except that you always have to run Steam application which is annoying and to be connected to internet. I miss old times when you only had to have DVD and could be more independent. What if I want to play this game in 10 years when server is down and support is ended?

Great game, this was a great buy and it reminded me of the good old days, I must say one thing though the controls is alittle hard to get used to but besides that it is a game worth playing

SC Wholesale had the best price on this game across ebay and Amazon. The game arrived in 24 hours with free postage in perfect factory sealed condition. Couldn't have asked for more.

Amazing, classic game. Graphics aren't as good as their newest counterparts, which is to be expected, but also paved the way for Oblivion, Skyrim and other open world games.

5.3.2014

One of the best games ever made, but be aware that you'll need internet access and a Steam account to activate this 2014 release. None of the games orginally needed this.
