I've had my A7ii since 2015, and I've only been using it with the 55mm 1.8 (Carl Zeiss) lens and the kit lens. I love the 55mm 1.8, but I wanted something that was as good quality and still allowed me to get wider shots if needed.I compared this Tamron 28-75 2.8 (£750) to the G Master 24-70 2.8 (£1,800) and the Sony 24-105 4.0 (£1,200). I compared the weight, size, price, aperture, range and quality. You might find this hard to believe, but I was very close to buying the G Master, but what put me off wasn't the price, it was the size/weight. I didn't need nor want a lens that size, it would be too much for the photos I take.So then I was left comparing the Sony 24-105 to the Tamron. For me,the main differences were 24mm vs 28mm, and 2.8 vs 4.0. I wanted 2.8 more than I wanted 24mm, and with the added bonus of having ~£400 in my pocket.Since receiving the lens (about 3 weeks ago), It's not left my camera. My Carl Zeiss 1.8 was sharp, and is probably slightly sharper overall, but this Tamron lens is incredible. I'm very impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.Only slight issue I have is, as the lens doesn't have IS built in (obviously the A7ii does), I found some of my shots are slightly blurry, it's just resulted in me speeding the shutter up to combat that, no problems since.

Very popular lens for good reason with E mount glass so expensive this offers quite a lot for the money. Sadly Tamron have price hiked it, probably due to demand.Build is good, but mostly plastic body - it feels fine, but not as good as the price suggests. AF is solid almost on a par with native E mount lenses, eye AF works well on the A7IIII like the lens, but it has some weaker points - plenty sharp even wide open across most of the range, stopping down wide end is suggested for better corner performance.Unfortunately bokeh is a bit harsh and ropey - might not matter for some shots but it lets the show down a bit, the GM Sony's do better here, but their high cost for F2.8 is the problem. The F4 is nothing special quite a weak lens, the F2.8 is expensive. Don't mind the 28mm starting point v the 24mm ones, times I want wider for most shots this is good enough. Worth getting, but it doesn't have the build to justify the price would make a sensible purchase at £599

I have done extensive tests Vs the 24-105 f4 lens which is it's most direct rival and both are extremely sharp with great AF. At f4 I would say the tamron wins on sharpness but at f2.8 is a little less sharp but still good.If they were the same price it would be a tie, trading off the extra stop of light for range however at current prices if you could only have one id have to pick the tamron for the saved cash. Only consideration is that it doesn't have oss but that only really matters of you have an older body with no IbisAgainst the 24-70 GM I feel it's a bit of an unfair fight as it's in a different price bracket all together however for me,this if good enough when on the 42mp a7riii and I have no desire to drop over 2k on the GM!Note: a wide angle zoom has been announced to compliment this, so looking forward to that too.

I have been using the Sony a7iii for about a year, I have the 12-24mm Sony lens f4. I was wanting something a bit more all round and I came across this. So much to say about this lens: Great price, especially now as I paid 750 only a few months back. Silent, smooth and quick autofocus. Awesome bokeh at f2.8. Haven't seen too much in the way as of chromatic aberrations. I rate the lens very highly and I am very happy with my purchase. I have attached a few photos, they have been edited in Lightroom, they have been uploaded in Jpeg, if anyone wants a RAW pic just msg me.

Quick review:- INDISPENSIBLE focal range, 95% of my shooting can be done on this lens. This lens convinced me on zooms, I used to think I'd only shoot primes.- WIDE aperture, (Same as the best G Master in this focal range) Paired with a Sony a7iii, lowlight shooting becomes a breeze.- FAST and SILENT, (native like, Sony themsleves have declared this lens to be native) autofocus.- QUALITY BIULD, lovely to the touch, everything about this feels great, even the lens cap haha- SHARP- SMALL and LIGHTThis lens is quite simply Godly.

I would say that you could only live with this lens. It is a fast lens with fast autofocus. The compatibility with Sony e-mount cameras is really good. It is not that heavy even when is kind of a big lens. The quality of the material feels descent, since is plastic, but it is robust and the performance is great. It gives really sharp images and produces an amazing bokeh. The only problem is that the lens doesn't have image stabilization, so the shutter speed has to increase to produce stable shots.

I've been using this lens with my Sony a6000 for a few weeks now. I made sure to research it well first and watch plenty of reviews to make sure I was getting a quality product and I have not been disappointed. This lens works out at about a third of the price in comparison to others similar to it which also fit the Sony E Mount. I have a 12mm and a 70-200mm lens so this one fits pretty much perfectly between those to complete my trio of lenses!

Very good value for money especially when compared with Sony's equivalent. Image quality is very good as is colour rendition. AF is fairly quick - not lightning fast but certainly fast enough and accurate on my Sony A7iii. It's my goto lens most of the time for general photography. Highly recommended. Now waiting for a new Tamron 70-300 or there abouts in Sony E mount. Sony's own lenses are too expensive for me and don't really perform well.

This lens has gone up in price everywhere since I got mine, and I immediately understand why.The lens is an absolute monster in pretty much every department. It's autofocus and edge-to-edge sharpness rival Sony's flagship 24-70mm G-Master - that comes in at over £2000 - and it's relative compactness, constant aperture and light weight make it a must have for me.Great lens. Definitely a keeper.

I had the Sony 24-70GM and sold it when I got hold of this lens as it's THAT GOOD!This lens has the best value for money versus performance ratio of any FE lens!Superb performer, stupidly sharp, ultra fast af, great weight and size balance to the body, high quality materials, unbelievable price! What's not to love?No brainer purchase for anybody wanting a kit lens alternative

22.4.2020

Excellent light weight lens.It suffers from a little vignetting at f2.8, particularly at the wide end of it's zoom range, but this is fairly easy to remove in post processing.Sharpness is excellent throughout the zoom range. It has no image stabilisation built in, but works well with the IBIS on my A7RiiOverall an excellent value lens

Can't think of any negatives. I've achieved some insanely good shots on this. My instagram is @lukedoreyphoto - head on over and review my wedding photos on (Instagram Highlights). They were all taken with this stupidly good lens. To think its over 50% cheaper than the GM, extraordinary and it's smaller + lighter!BUY BUY BUY

The Tamron 28-75mm is an amazing lens for any Sony A7 series of camera's.It's super fast and quite auto focusing system.I have serval lenses and I can say that this is one of best lens I own.I can confirm that the image quality is as great, sharp and vibrant as the Sony 24-70mm GM lens, and at more then half the price.

12.1.2020

For a sub thousand pound zoom there's little to dislike here. The wide end has the usual distortion and vignetting, but the general image quality, colour and rendition is excellent. Its light, focus is pretty fast and very accurate - I'm highly impressed.

3.3.2020

I actually sold my Sony 2470mm GM for this lens as the GM was too heavy especially for gimbal work, excellent image quality almost as good as the GM (you will only see a difference when you pixel peep) paired with the 17-28mm they make a great combo.
