So have been eyeing up a 85mm for weeks. Looking for first f1.4 len as this seems to give me a great dive in as my first prime. I toyed with Sigma (very heavy) around £700 and then to save weight considered the Canon with IS... for £930. This came in at £480 and thought I would give it a try. Overall, one day in can see some positives. Surprised is struggles on focus and could be used for wriggle dog portraiture. The focus is a tad slow compared to my canon 70 200 f4. Another down side is the dodgy ill fitting hood and the lens cap that's a tad unpredictable. Getting g a canon lens cap soon, and will check if my other 77mm hood works. Overall though when I remind myself is half price,

For the price this is a super lens, the sweet spot is between f/8 and f/11 for edge to edge sharpness. Edge sharpness at f/2.8 through to f/5.6 is not great (but acceptable in most cases), astro photographers might want to look else where and spend a little more money. The lens is solidly built and well balanced (on a 5D MK4) , it has a weather sealed gasket and one switch on the lens barrel to switch AF on and off. The biggest drawback for landscape photographers is the lack of a viable filter system, although a holder and filters (cokin) can be purchased, they are rather big and expensive and the choice is limited. 14mm is very wide and will take some getting used to if you have never shot that wide,

Got this lens to replace my old 17-40F4 by Canon. Was constipating and still questioning my self . Should i ? How ever off i went to the local store to grab 1 for my self!Took me a while to get used to it but hey what can i say. It is amazing. Sharp and F2.8 helps when i go hunting for stars. Over all it's good how ever with 14MM comes cost. Filter holders and the filters will cost you some coin. Funny enough i fount the lens quite light compared to my old 17-40F4 lens. Fairly quick to. The distortion for 14MM is quite small ( nothing you can't fix in LR)Currently rocking this on my 5D MK2Wanted to keep this quite simple and easy!

It gets my four stars for its light weight, it’s compactness and generally good optics across the range of apertures and minimal aberration across the 100deg vision. There are many reviews and comparisons on YouTube, so assess these yourself. I think if you are selling your photos then spend £1200 on really specced lenses, but this offering from Korea is great value, and produces great photos with a Sony Alpha mirrorless, producing 40mb raws etc. 18mm gets you close and wide, the fast f2.8 gives you plenty speed. Landscape, astro, architecture, candid reportage, are all within its remit. I’ve even done video on a gimble.

The price point of the Samyang 85mm 1.4 far under states the image quality you can achieve with this lens. The built quality superb and surprising compact fir a f1.4 lens. Bokeh is beautiful and milky smooth. The autofocus is very quiet and precise normally, tho I’ve had the odd experience of it being slightly temperamental but this doesn’t seam to be normal behaviour. Very pleased with this lens, using on a Canon 5d mk I and a 7d mk I and it’s incredible on both. Will be considering other focal lengths from this range in future. Highly recommended.

This is a great lens at good price. 2 months ago I purchased this lens for £564.00, now it is £449.99. So I am not very happy that my lens lost its value so earlier after my purchase. but its a good lens especially for the money. So be aware that Samyang lens don't retain their value very well despite being great lens. if you are planning to resell in the near future go for canon or Nikon version. This is great for photo but not as good for video. I love Samyang lens, just wish the price would hold better.

Unless you want to spend G Master money this will be as good as you can get for a full frame wide angle prime. It's super lightweight, compact and has a good level of sharpness. At F2.8 you can get some good shallow depth of field but don't expect anything other than good performance, this won't make you say wow like a very fast lense. Overall this is a really great option for a compact, wide lense for enthusiasts and amateurs

The Samyang 18mm f2.8 FE is a simple, ultra lightweight ultra wide angle travel companion. It's optical performance is astonishing for the price. It isn't perfect, however it is on a par, or even better than, the Zeiss 18mm that I owned. Need I say more? I have awarded this lens 5 stars for it's performance / price ratio. Nothing else comes close. Thoroughly recommended. Oh, and did I mention it weighs nothing.

I purchased this lens specifically for star trail and milky way photograpy. The 14mm is super wide and it shows you a broad view of the sky. The AF system comes handy when shooting buildings or landmarks from time to time while on a travel. Build quality is much better than its counterpart - the MF version. Money is well spent!

First reaction to this lens is amazing... Both value for money and performance. Its so wide and distortion free its a fantastic lens to have access to in my kit and the idea that I'd be able to obtain it so cheaply is pretty mind blowing when you compare it to the cost of the average fe mount lens.

Wanting a super wide lens for my a7 I was frustrated with the cost of the wide zooms. The samsung 18mm fe lens is a small sharp lens that is as good to use as my samsung 35mm , one on the camera one in my pocket and the a7 becomes a delight to use, bring out more lenses like these please.

Samyang just get better and better. Can't seem to take this off my camera without missing it massively. Unbelievable wide for my a7rii and an amazing depth of field and sharpness that competes pretty closely with the likes of zeiss

I do a lot of property photography and wedding photography/ filming and this is a very good lense - nice colours, acceptable distortion for a lense this wide (which can be improved in software). Autofocus is excellent.

Good but not as good at focusing or as sharp as I had hoped. Using on a Canon EOS5d MKiii & MKiV and I probably get about 50% in focus/sharp images. The remainder are out of focus or simply not crystal clear.

Really light and useful lense. I use it all the time now. Very convenient focal length. Well made. Recommended. It's what mirrorless is all about - small size and very low weight.
