This lens is so good because it’s tiny, weighs nothing (under 100gm). And it’s full frame! You hardly know it’s there, it is the perfect travel lens. I use it with a Sony A7R II, and I'm finding (only had it a couple of months or so) that it’s not being a zoom lens is actually a plus. With the camera providing 42 megapixels (and full frame), you have loads of scope for digital cropping afterwards, while still ending up with high quality shots of 15-20 megapixels. It makes it the ultimate point and shoot – no need to worry about getting the framing exactly right as you look at a scene. Just take the pic! Having used zoom lenses for decades, pretty much exclusively,it makes the whole process of taking pix feel very different, and pleasant! And you are much less likely to miss something. I also have the Sony full frame 24-240 zoom lens. When I use it, it feels enormous and heavy – even though it’s advertised as being compact and light! Put it this way – you wouldn't want to do a long walk with it, whereas the Samyang is perfect. And wasn’t one of the benefits of mirrorless bodies supposed to be that they were smaller than SLRs?I’d say the Samyang is currently one of the bargains of the whole photographic market. Haven't had any problems at all with the AF. My advice is buy one!

This lens is a bit of a miracle, a 24mm full frame lens that weighs only 95g and is tiny. I use it on an original Sony a7, so only 24 MP, and use it only for landscape, so I can’t say how good it might be for street photography etc.It takes quite a bit of work to get the best from this lens, but it repays the effort. I’ve found that by stopping down to about f/11, and manually focusing at about 3-4 metres, I can get great sharpness from edge to edge, with just the very extreme corners a little bit smeary, and everything in focus from 3ft to infinity. At these settings, it is almost as sharp as my Batis 25mm, but shows a little bit less contrast/micro-contrast. But by increasing contrast in raw processing,it comes very close, which has got to be an excellent result! It has more vignetting than I’d like, but from f/8 onwards, it isn’t too much of a problem. Distortion seems low, no more noticeable than with the Batis, and much less than the Sony 28mm.All in all, a great lens if you need to keep the weight down. I can go hill-walking/trekking with a Samyang 24mm, 35mm, and Sony 50mm f/1.8 lens combination that weighs just 365g!

This lens is excellent!Measure your expectations, its not super sharp like the big brand equivalents and "only" a 2.8 lens but image quality is actually very good. Colour is great, AF is snappy an unlike another reviewer here I have found it to be really reliable locking on and eye AF is also supported well.Ultimately its the size and insane light weight that make it such a gem, you can literally carry it anywhere, pop it on and let the fun begin. And it is fun!!!I never thought I would use this focal length much, I am naturally suited to 35/50 but have really found an opening mostly due to this lens being so amazingly small it allows me to take my camera everywhere without drawing attention.I have the A7r ii and it feels like I am carrying the body only, a wonderful feeling! It's a keeper!!!
