Great quality, well made pencils - and in a range that is actually meaningful (ie in the 12 pack I got its 12 distinct shades, not just increments of 3!).The colours are nice and bright, and on paper are rich and deep - but whats particularly great is with a damp brush, finger tip or just wetting the nib, you can get the colour to flood; its not just an imitation - its basically the nearest thing to watercolour paints you could possibly get; so much so in fact that if you use too much water, it basically turns into paint, so start off conservative while youre getting familiar! As a colouring tool - I cant fault them - you can have the soft effects of watercolour, but highlight with the sharper lines of a pencil, without having to change medium. A key thing too, is that the white pencil actually leaves white over other colours, rather than a suggestion of white or just scraping off!The tin is also well made, a little flimsy maybe, and would probably get very dinged up in a bag or supply carrier, but my pencils are stored in a cupboard so its not an issue for me.The only improvement I could think for this would be to include a sharpener, but thats me really pushing the boat out to look for something to criticise!

STABILO AquaColor Metal Box of 12 Colours is one excellent set of colouring pencils which have a couple of hidden qualities.I love how these colouring pencils provide great colouring as the colours are vibrant but yet the actual pencil is very soft which provide the perfect colouring as the colours can be built up with much softness yet the colour is still strong. For the depth of colour I received from using these pencils is first class and I would expect this depth of colour from a pencil which is so much more expensive.I love colouring as it helps me to relax and I have spent a lot of money seeking the perfect colours, I wish I had known about as for me they are a delight to use,the only small flaw with them as the lead is so soft I did have to sharpen them quite a bit which means they will not last as long as my other expensive pencils. Yet at the price, the Stabilo Aquacolor is a great price and for that reason alone I am happy to recommend.STABILO AquaColor Metal Box of 12 Colours is one excellent source of colouring whether you use water to help bring an extra dimension to your colouring. I would advise only a small application of water is needed.

This is a set of basics - black, white and 10 frequently used colours. If you are fond of this medium, then this a handy 'foundation' set to which can be added your own choice of additional shades; if you have a local art shop, you can select individual colours to add (which have numeric references). If you aren't familiar with such pencils - especially mixing colours as you produce a work - you'll need to practise; using water - which you don't have to use if you don't want to - can be tricky at first. Also note that although the 'leads' are essentially soft, they need a bit of breaking in on rough paper, as there always seem to be some hard inclusions which produce some unpleasant effects on first use. This a nice clean product to use, and the act of blending as you work is a pleasure in itself. Good quality from an established manufacturer, and fun to experiment with, even if you don't do anything else. Don't waste them on those pretentious adult colouring books. Nice set.

These Stabilo AquaColor Pencils come well presented in a metal tin and the 12 pack features a decent spectrum of colours. Both in "dry mode" and when moistened these pencils support good control over shading and can fill in more dense areas effectively too. The physical shape of the pencils is nice too - their hexagonal shape and diameter means they're easy to grip. The one downside for me is that when you sharpen some (but not all) of the pencils the leads are can break - I use a gentle electric sharpener. I'm no pencil expert but I can't help but wonder if the fact that the pencils rattle around in transit inside the tin breaks the leads - all that's needed to keep them more secure in the tin is a simple plastic moulding.Overall, these pencils uphold the tradition of quality and usability you'd expect from the Stabilio brand but i think the packaging may need a tweak.

These are as nice as you’d expect from a known brand like Stabilo. The vivid colours blend nicely with each other, and with water. I’ve always been keen on watercolour pencils- somehow luxuriant with their soft leads and watery blending, but yet they feel easier to control, quicker and cleaner than getting actual watercolour paints out. These are a perfectly reasonable version, with the 12 pencil set that I’m reviewing only distinguishable in terms of colour range by the inclusion of a white pencil and the absence of a bold primary red. They’re a step up from adult colouring books and a bit too nice for a junior school bag, but they’re reasonably priced enough to not be too precious. They’re high enough quality to make you want to use them, while not so precious that they couldn’t be taken out for a quick sketch, or shared around in class etc.

This is a pack of sturdy, comfortable to hold pencils which give lovely vibrant colours when used for detail work or shading. They are fairly soft do you don't have to press too hard.If you want a watercolour effect, you need to add water with a small paintbrush. This allows you to create sweeps of colour across the paper, turning a small area of crayon into a wide but much paler expanse of watered down colour. It also allows you to blend the colours, though this needs a bit of practise. I did find that you need to use quite a bit of water to get the crayons to act as watercolours, and therefore you are best using them with dedicated watercolour paper, as with normal paper it ends up crinkled from the water. This means the crayons are better suited to adults as you probably won't want to provide kids with a lot of expensive watercolour paper.

As a lifelong devotee of Caran d'Ache Aquarelle pencils, I wasn't expecting these to be anywhere near as good, especially for the amazingly cheap price, so I was pleasantly surprised when I used them. They aren't as good as Caran d'Ache but they are a very good and convincing stand in and I'd have been impressed if they'd been twice the price they were. Smooth, soft leads and beautiful, vibrant colours that blend easily and have a lovely depth of colour whether using them lightly or layering to achieve a more solid look. Good range of colours in this tin that mix really well and work extremely well wet or dry. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to top brand pencils, you won't go wrong with these.I'm very impressed. Arrived promptly, well packaged. I would buy again and would certainly recommend.

My daughter and myself love drawing and colouring pictures in. She has always pestered me for paints so was intrigued to see how these aquacolours worked as a half way house. The pencils come in a compact tin and provide a look of professionalism. Inside are 12 pencils that look entirely normal.First use without water is fine, they work well and you don't have to push really hard to get colour out like cheap pencils. A touch of water and they do indeed start providing what can only be described as a watercolour type. Only a small amount of water is needed but the effect is striking and gives another technique to traditional pencil drawings/colours.I haven't encountered the leads cracking uponsharpening yet but will update if it does turn out to be the case.

These Czech-made watercolour pencils, by the well-known German stationery brand Schwan-STABILO, are great for use by kids but many art-students and adult artists will love using them too. Although they can be used on their own, just as ordinary colouring pencils, they really give their best results when used with some water and a brush. These twelve top quality artists pencils are suitable for sketching, colouring or painting and come in a card pack that is not really designed to keep them in so you will probably also need a pencil case to keep them safe when not use. We have obtained some attractive results when using these pencils for water-colouring and at under seven pounds for a dozencurrently from Amazon they are decent value for the quality and fun.

My grandson has had a great deal of fun out of these Aquacolor Aquarellable pencils experimenting with using them alongside regularwatercolour painting. I am no artist, but watching him use them and the effects he's been able to get, has been an education. I didn't know you could get this type of pencil, however, if you are using them for water colour painting/enhancing you do need to be using paper/material which will support that use. You get a fairly standard range of colours in this pack of twelve, although you really need somewhere to keep them once you've broken into the pack as they don't come with a wallet/case, which nearly lost them a star, however, they are typically excellent quality pencils as you would expect from Stabilo.

Although designed for children, these are really good quality, watercolour pencils. This means you can get excellent quality artwork, using a brush and some water, so are great for children to experiment with. They come in the typical, Stabilo, cardboard wallet. The top tucks inside, but they are not the sturdiest place to keep pencils together. My daughter likes to keep all her colouring pens and pencils in pots on her desk, but you might want to invest in a pencil case, as these are nice and you won’t want them lost. They are slim, bright colours and there is also a good choice of colours; even though you only get twelve pens. Well priced and good quality, these are excellent for adults, and children, alike.

I've fallen prey to the modern trend of adult colouring-in books for stress relief and have mostly made do with crayon remnants I have managed to wrestle from the kids. These pencils are game changers. I've squirreled them away so that small hands never grab them. These are mine.Terrific quality, vibrant colours, well packaged - these are a joy to use and the nibs don't go down as quickly as you may think. I have enjoyed using them with water to create pleasing effects - which takes me back to doing stuff I last did tow decades ago at school.Overall, these are fun to use, impressive quality and good value for money. Happy to recommend

For the price, these are a good set of watercolour pencils. This set of 12 pencils has the basic colours, which would enable someone to try them out before purchasing further colours. The pencils give a good even coverage of colour and are also easy to use with a wet brush direct onto the pencil tip. The colours blended well with a waterbrush. I have only sharpened one and it didn't break off when sharpened - this may be more of a problem if the tip has been wetted to take colour directly off the pencils. I used a Faber Castell pencil sharpened, which I never have problems with. Would make a good set to carry round for outdoor painting.

STABILO aquacolor Metal Box of 12 colours - Aquarellable coloured pencil are an inexpensive set of coloured pencils with a difference. If you dip them in a tiny bit of water they perform like watercolour paints. This means that with a little forethought you can get spectacular results. If you use the pencils with water then it pays to select a better quality and gauge of paper.Keep the water to a minimum so as not to over wet the paper, take a little extra care and the results may, just may, be wonderful.Totally recommended. Thanks for reading I wish you good colouring.
