Not sure if I like them that much honestly. I have purchased a set as my holidays pencils (they are cheap, so if I loose or drop any, that's not a big deal). I was playing around with them, but somehow I like BIC Tropicolors far more.. As budget supplies, they are not highly pigmented, quite resistant to breakage.I do find these very hard to blend and get any smooth texture in the end.As with any other children's pencils, the final effect does strongly depend on paper used (attached 2 pieces made using different toned paper - one thin recycled pad [not a good idea] and another one toned cardboard drawing pads- colors look already far better)To work with the mentioned I do use either pastels'toned paper or just thick (very often cardboard) paper. It is important because in order to get any decent tones you just need to press a bit harder sometimes. On a positive side - I do appreciate tnice browns from the color palette. I miss the skin tone pencil - there is a peach color instead (a bit too redish for skin tones in my opinion).Overall - good, budget pencils to learn how to draw/keep practicing. I will use up my set, not going to buy next one.

These are very much the archetype of school colouring pencils- perfectly acceptable colours, leads and wood, unremarkable in appearance and ready to be hauled about in pencil cases, dropped, sharpened for no reason, used to poke things, and all the other things that these pencils might be subjected to in their lifetime.Even the tin looks more like disposable packaging than a ‘classic’ pencil case, giving the sense that these are designed to be decanted into a TippEx-encrusted personalised pencil box and that the metal tin isn’t expected to be a long-term keepsake. It’s a shame in a way, as they’re rather nice to use.I might just borrow these and a colouring book back from my daughter if it allstarts getting a bit too much...

The STABILO colour Metal Box of 12 colours is a really neat box of excellent coloured pencils harking back to simpler pre-computer/Game Boy days.If you are like me and of a certain age then you may remember the pleasure of a set of crayons and a colouring book or better still blank pages then this is a set to consider. The hexagonal crayons sharpen well and when dropped seem to be a lot more robust than other cheaper products that constantly need resharpening. In other words, the 'leads are tougher. You get all the usual suspects of vibrant colours which transfer to the paper to give good shading.Great for colouring in, general use and having fun which is really priceless.

Lovely pencils with really vibrant colours. My daughter (aged 7) has been taking these into school every day; her friends have been rather taken with them too ... so much so that I had to put small name stickers on each one to ensure none of them became (ahem!) lost!.They hold a point well, and I've put a small piece of glasspaper in the tin and have shown my daughter how to get a chisel point on the pencils. Despite being dropped on to hard surfaces several times the leads have not broken internally. My daughter particularly loves the tin (and so do I); I really can't fault the pencils but having a tin is such a bonus and it will no doubt far outlive the lovely pencils.

It's nice to get colouring pencils in a proper tin: the colour range is good although there is no white pencil in the set, it runs from black, through two browns, two blues, two greens, a yellow and orange, two reds and a purple. The colours are good with lots of pigment and can be lurred slightly with the application of water, although they are not watercolour pencils. The set is a bit slim - that is, the pencils themselves are far from chunky, which might have suited younger children, but this will be a good set for coloring book work or even a young students taking art for exams. A nice set or vibrant couloring pencils.

It's all too easy to overlook this 12 pencil set of colours, but this basic set is capable of many top quality coloured pencil studies!Great quality wood and colour leads, these are excellent pencils and it is a privilege to open a tin of them to use! It really is such a thrill as an artist/designer to open a new tin of these! I don't think I'm alone in getting butterflies when I open a brand new tin of pencils! It's like a world of possibilities are contained within! I had no issues with broken leads as I sharpened the pencils, these are just very good quality pencils everything about them speaks quality!

A rainbow of 12 colours, all different, in a metal tin to keep them safe. The design on the tin clearly targets the pencils at children, but of course anyone can use them. It’s just that you probably wouldn’t want to keep the tin on your desk if you were doing some highfaluting professional job. Or perhaps you are so respected by colleagues, etc. that if they see such a tin on your desk they will all want one….Schwan-STABILO is a German brand (note the swan icon in front of the STABILO name). The country of manufacture of these pencils (and tin) is not specified, but they are ‘Made in EU’.

A nice little useful tin contains a decent selection of colours (although being fussy, I would have said the browns weren't different enough to warrant there being two shades and I would have preferred a purple in the mix)The colours are smooth to apply and reasonably vibrant enough to satisfy a schoolchild which is where the market is aimed. As an adult who owns high quality colour pencils, these don't make the grade in terms of pigment and vibrancy, but I think as a pack of coloured pencils for a child they are an excellent starting point.

Good quality basic colouring pencils in a flat storage tin. Perfect for school or home. The hexagonal pencils sharpen well and the leads don’t shatter at the slightest knock.Good range of colours with pigment that transfers to the paper well, good movement over the paper, not scratchy like some cheaper pencils can be.The tin suggests they’re targeted at children, but the pencils aren’t of the chunky variety so not really for 4-5 year olds, more 7-9 Years.

A choice of twelve colours, a starter set for colouring, or one for school bags. The metal tin is a permanent container for the good quality pencils. The colours are bright and cheerful, the pencils are of the traditional wooden type. The picture on the tin is fun, jolly; a line of flags, with three children holding them up. Stabilo are a trusty brand, and these are no exception, the results are impressively rich and effective.

I have had Stabilo pencils before and have usually given them to my grandchildren but am keeping this set for myself. I have adult colouring books to complete and these are perfect. The colours are vivid and the twelve shades cover the range you are likely to need. They are soft lead and very easy to use, giving good coverage. They also come in a neat little brightly coloured tin for easy storage

Good colours and a good application of tone. Not waxy like cheaper pencils and hard enough for the lead not to snap off as soon as you exert a bit of pressure. The tin's a bit flimsy but you're going to put them in a Star Wars pencil case anyway, so just recycle it.A mid range pencil. Great, top-end for kids, but for an adult or teenager I'd pay a little bit more for water based pencils such as

I was so glad to find these and at a great price. I have an old set of twelve which I love and have searched for the brand several times unsuccessfully, wanting to replace and add new colours. I only use them for adult colouring but they do sharpen well, go on smoothly, blend and give good gradation of tone. I'm not very keen on the fluorescent colours but they will have child appeal.

This is a lovely, retro tin of 12 coloured pencils. The pencils are good, old-fashioned wood with coloured centres - with all the colours of the rainbow and a few extras as well. They are clear and beautiful colours and they make clear marks when used on white paper. I am using them to design beaded jewellery and they are just perfect. This time the grandkids are going to miss out!
