I’ve done a fair amount of cycling in my time but until recently, I’d never had a chain break. I suspect that this is down to chains becoming thinner as bikes get more gears. When my chain broke, I was several miles from home. I asked a builder for the local postcode so that I could call my wife and get her to pick me up. As luck would have it, the builder was a cyclist and he happened to have his tools in his van. He repaired my chain for me and I made my way home by the shortest route. On inspection, the chain was splitting in several places and needed replacing. When I compared it to my new chain, I realised that the original had stretched significantly.I realised that I needed to add a chain tool and spare links to my saddle bag tools.I can’t hope to be so lucky next time and many of my routes are along quiet country lanes where help isn’t readily available.

I paid a few quid more for these & I'm still more than happy,They're solid, well built & make a previous pain of cleaning the chains on my two bikes - a breeze. This tool both splits & joins chains that have a quick split-link so just the one tool needed.(I've only used these on a 9spd & 10spd chain so if your running an 11 or 12 speed cassette just check compatibility?)In all honesty the only thing i thought when I got these was 'why the hell didn't i get these sooner' (as a 30+ years cyclist!)now 'quick split links' really are quick split! save yourself the swearing, the rage & the greasy paws - get these.

Have only used this once so far, on a KMC 11 speed e11 EPT e-bike chain, it worked exactly as expected, removing the link from the old chain and refitting a new missing link to a new chain without any issue.I did note before purchase that some reviewers have found that the tool didn't open far enough to refit the missing link, that wasn't my experience. If that does happen, just use pressure on the pedal to pull the link fully into place, dismantling the pliers and grinding the travel limit stop off will fix it if felt necessary.Ideal tool for the home mechanic, and a fair saving over the Park equivalent.

Usual excellent BBB quality and very well priced. This is a bike shop quality tool, made by a reputable manufacturer. If you're having trouble deciding between this and another tool in this price range go with this one as the other won't be as good. Others have said this tool doesn't work for closing a master/missing link but after using it today I'd say that's more than likely user error than a problem with the tool. It worked flawlessly both opening and closing a master/missing link. What more can I say, its excellent quality and works perfectly.

These do the job nicely, and seem well made. I prefer using these for fitting invisible links, as opposed to applying tension to the chain. They make removing an invisible link easier, too. Please note: both plier points don't need to fit inside the invisible link to snap it closed - just put one plier point inside the invisible link, and the other point inside either adjoining chain link, before pulling the handles apart.

Pops chains in and out with no issue. It's great for anyone doing DIY bike fixes but it's not up to the task of professional workshop work. Also don't buy the more expensive parktools etc alternatives if it's just for occasional home use, they're made to take daily abuse from professional mechanics and the extra quality really isn't needed for the vast majority of people

Finally got fed up of fiddling with the quick links on bike chains and bought these in the hope they would make it easier. They do. Very easy to use, works first time every time whether linking or breaking the quick links. Will also hold the chain in place while broken while you hunt for the quick link you mislaid!Works all chains up to 11spd that I've tried so far.

they look good quality, used them on a couple chains, it sure does make the job of putting in links and removing real simple, I can look forward to a more simple life now, no more oil and grease all over me, getting to old for messing around with bike jobs with out the right tools, I love them just for the way it makes it ever so easy, a real good bye well chuffed.

Removing those 'special' links used to make me swear rather - a much harder task than you think it should be. With these pliers it is almost pleasurable, and that these also help join the links is a nice bonus. I still swear when I inevitably drop one half of the link on the floor and the chain snakes away when I bend down to retrieve it.

I've used various chain quick links for years and just lived with the mess and frustration of trying to separate an oily chain by hand. This thing makes it incredibly easy, and also can be used in reverse to click the link in place. If you think you can manage without one of these you've either never tried one or you're a masochist.

I always thought that changing or cleaning a chain would be a hassle, but it was actually very simple. The fact that i could take my chain out and give it a good clean means that i don't have to spend more money buying a new chain.this tool is very useful, easy to use and could save you money like it did for me. Would recommend

For some reason this is described as unisex! I can confirm that this tool can be used by people of any gender!!!For the money it's a decent sturdy tool. I did see mention in some reviews that this is great at breaking quicklinks but not joining them - you should not be using this to join them, that should be done by pedaling.

A very handy little tool for opening the special link on bicycle chains of all speeds... Only downside is its a little tight for 11 speed chains, but nothing a quick run of a file can't cure. Overall a good quality tool and delivery was perfect again... Highly Recommended for the home mechanic or even the workshop...

A very useful addition to my cycling toolkit at a very reasonable price. I've managed undoing and doing up master links with my fingers for several years, not realising that a proper tool was available. This is a big improvement and, although it's a bit of a nice-to-have, you can't go wrong at the price.

This made swapping out the chain link so much easier than trying do it by hand I'm wondering how I managed before. Very easy to use and arrived on time which was a great result so I could use the bike after weekend repairs. It's now part of my ever growing bike tool kit. Highly recommended.
