We purchased this game as a gift and we've just gotten around to having a family sit down and spending some time playing it.What a great game it is, Scrabble Harry Potter edition, can be played as a normal scrabble game with just the HP themed board and tile trays.OR it can be played with the HP Hogwarts cards that bring a little twist to the game, things like you cast a spell, you can take one tile from an opponent, you can change a blank tile for the letter if you have it on your rack, and keep the blank to use yourself. There are all different fun bits added to this version of the game, and for HP fans it really adds an extra fun factor. My daughter is HP mad,and she really enjoyed playing it.It can however be played the normal scrabble way, but if that's what you want then I'd go for basic scrabble. This is certainly the game for HP fans. It's certainly a winner for us, and I'm sure it would be for any HP fans.Product DescriptionWith this special edition game, Scrabble celebrates the distinct vocabulary from the world of Harry Potter and his friends. Like Original Scrabble, this game comes with a board, four racks, bag of tiles and instructions. But Harry Potter Edition of Scrabble also includes a special glossary for players to find wizarding words they can play with their Scrabble tiles. When a player forms a word on a Hogwarts space, that player gets to draw a magical card that can help score more points. Game includes a deck of 36 Hogwarts cards that bring even more magic to the game. Fans of the Seven Books and Eight films in the Harry Potter Universe will love this special Scrabble game - but it won’t be around for long

I really enjoyed playing this with my 5 year old. However, I found it useful to write down the words we needed to make so he could check if he had any of the letters to complete the words. I think as he gets older it will come a lot quicker. It's a shame no tile holders are included too but it's all good. The letter bag is great.I'm not sure how long it would hold his attention playing on the other side of the board tho without the word pictures and hints.

Bought as a present for my 10 year old niece as she loves both Harry Potter and scrabble. She immediately opened it up an forced us all into a game. She’s not terribly patient and did find the extra ‘spells’ hard to follow, there’s actually a lot of extra rules, so for younger children it may be best to pick one or two to play with. The quality was good, and as expected. Scrabble is never cheap, buying this version you do get a lot of extra content

Great game to play as a family with our 4 and 7 year old, with the 4 year old needing a bit of help but a great way for her to learn her letters. Really frustrating that the 'n' has a line underneath to show that it is a 'n' but the 'u' doesn't so we were right at the end of the level 1 game before we realised we couldn't finish because we had run of 'u' tiles after we'd used them as 'n'. We now know for next time.

I bought this for my 12 year old daughter (obsessed with Harry Potter) for Christmas and she loved it!!!!! It's normal scrabble with Harry Potter twists. There is also a Harry Potter glossary featuring Harry Potter words you can use. Some rules are a bit vague but are understandable after a few reads. Overall a great buy. Would reccomend as a must-have for any Harry Potter fanatic.

An excellent twist on a classic game. A must for Potter fans.My only gripe is they dont allow you to spell out actual Potter character names for bonus points as they do in Disney Scrabble. Although there are plenty of other bonus items. And i guess one could always change the rules oneself to incorporate this if one really wanted to and the other players were in agreement.

We all love Harry Potter Scrabble! It has so many more dimensions to it than regular scrabble, which helps keep little minds engaged. While creating a Harry Potter word (eg: "Expeliamus") is near impossible, having the house cards and Harry Potter cards gives added interest and fun. I much prefer this version too! Well worth it.

I think my kids are actually a bit old for this (8-10 years old), but they still enjoy playing. The "crossword" side of the board is far too basic for them. The "scrabble" side is fine though. They don't play by the rules in the box - they play normal scrabble rules, but without worrying about letter scores and bonus squares.

Yet an other generation loves this game. As someone nearly I played this game as a youngster, as did my daughter and now my 7 year old Grandaughter is just learning how to play on this item I bought for her birthday last week. Best price around. Good family entertainment, good for young school children who enjoy learning.

My Potter-mad daughter totally loves this game. She loves Scrabble and loves HP, so it was always going to be a winner! The extra play options add interest to the usual game, even if it's highly unlikely you'd have the letter to make some of the specialist HP words you're allowed on top of the usual dictionary!

So I have a bone to pick with this game, why are only some of the letters underlined to say which was round. The n is underlined but not the u so when we used it the first time we got stuck at the end as u's had been used as n's before realised only one was underlined..... Not the best idea for child use ?

This is fab grandson loves it but no tile tray to hold your tiles like the adult ones just an empty space where they should be, kids have to lay them on table in full view so other players can see spoils the game bought 2 junior and an adult game an payed more for the junior ones

Great idea for introducing spelling for your little one. Great family fun game too. The good thing with this is as your little one grows, this game can grow with them. Other side is for older ones to enjoy too. So you won't have yet another toy to throw away within the year!

Love this product which has helped my daughters spelling a lot. We played the junior version on the one side and have moved on to the older junior side now. Had loads of fun as a family with it rather than the kids just being stuck in front of a computer game.
