We started playing this when my daughter was 7 years old. She's has a fairly logical mind and loves solving mysteries and this fit the bill. It was very easy for her jump right in and start to play with just a little bit of instruction. Setting up the board takes a few steps that you do need to follow correctly in order, but they were easy enough she could do them all as long as I told her what to do next. There is a random element to the game both in who the culprit will be/which room/which drink as well as the use of the die for movement, so every game is different. You do not have to use nearly the amount of deductive reasoning to figure things out as you have to use in the adult version of Clue.

One of my 6 year olds' favorite games. Definitely not the "Who Killed Colonel Mustard with the candlestick" experience from my childhood, i.e., the good ol' days. This game is more PC in that the players must figure out who ate the cake, at what time and with what to drink. Pretty tame by comparison. Really makes children focus and figure out how best to strategize to move their games pieces to areas they haven't looked in before in order to win the game first. My kids finally got the hang of it at about age 5 to the point they didn't need help checking off the items on the included lists and solving the "mystery." Best thing about this game is that it interests them to the point they will sit still long enough to play an entire game without a break - that in and of itself is priceless.

As soon as my child saw this, we had to play! He loved it! It's fun to really play up the mystery and add to the excitement of solving the case. For the Junior version, it is nice that it deals with who ate the cake. What child doesn't like cake? It takes some time and practice to get the hang of how the game is played so it may work best to pair with an adult until the child is ready to play on their own.

Great game -- our 3-year-old loves this! No reading is required and the rules are simple to explain and simple for a small child to comprehend. Gameplay is quick and fun. While I love the original Clue game, for kids, it's great that in Clue Jr. players are not investigating a murder, but rather who "stole" a piece of cake. This is much more appropriate topic-wise for small children.

The game is good and my kids love it. I just didn't realize that there are different versions. There's a cake one and a dog one. This is who ate the cake

I got this game for my daughter's 6th birthday. It is fun for all of us. My 3.5 year old can play and I can play and enjoy it. Great game!

The kids love this game! We play MANY games, and this one is a big hit with the kids (all under 10). I even enjoy playing it with them.

Fun for both the kids and adults. Easy to play and the kids win as often as the adults.
