This is one of my all time favourite board games from when I was growing up except back then the characters were slightly different and there was a Mrs White character instead of the new Dr Orchid and Mr Green was called Reverend Green.I know that obviously the game has been changed in this version to make it child friendly as it wouldn't really be appropriate for younger ones to be investigating a murder like with the adult game but I am surprised they decided to change the character colours. I can however see why they have decided to change Mrs White to have a Dr Orchid and this is something that I do appreciate as a Mum with a young Daughter and it does make the game a bit more modern.MyChildren have struggled with this game a little bit as they are both young but I can see this being a game that they will really enjoy in perhaps the next six months or so and they already do like playing it but need a lot of help from me and their Dad as the game concept is a little confusing to them and so personally I would say that the age suitability may need to be a little bit older than 5 and over. One thing that I have done is take a copy of the notepad as I always remember when I was little that we ended up having to make our own when the notepad had long since ran out and could never remember the full layout properly.A good idea and I love that a lot of the adult games have been changed slightly to make them suitable for younger children such as Monopoly. This is a game that my children will have to grow a bit into but it will definitely be being played regularly.

Having been an avid fan of Cluedo in my youth I was looking forward to introducing this to my children. It has been PC'd up for the younger market, so it's a who ate the cake mystery rather than a who murdered who with what instrument mystery. You roll the dice and the travel around the board revealing times, and drinks, with the ultimate aim being to guess who ate the last piece of cake , at what time, and with what drink. There are numbers and colours on the dice, the colours mean that you can just reveal drinks or times without moving anywhere. It is marketed at ages 5+, but I think my 7 year old would struggle with this alone, my 10 year old could probably manage. The reasons for this are, firstly some of the drinks illustrations are hard to distinguish one from the other which causes confusion each time we play with kids eliminating the wrong drinks. Secondly, the board doesn't flow very well, so the kids get confused where they can move, where they should be heading to etc. It just doesn't flow in the way the old version did, I actually think my children would find the older version easier to understand. We still like the game overall, it is fun, but I just can't bring myself to give it 5 stars because I don't think it compares favourably to the original.

Bought this as a gift for 6 year old niece. I wasn’t too sure how this gift would be reciprocated, but was pleasantly surprised when the feedback was positive.I’ve also had the joy of playing this with her and family. It’s been a mixture of adults and children (6 and 7 year olds), that have played this alongside one or two adults. The great thing is, the adults and children have enjoyed each game played!Setting up the game is very straight forward, playing is easy, but may need a few runs before the youngest understand. The concept is great, and the kids find it hilarious that we are trying to catch the one who ate the cake!It would be a little disturbing if the theme was murder mystery and the game was aimed at kids! The only downside is the sturdiness of the stands and cards. Now, little fingers aren’t gentle, and we found the stands (that give it away) often came off, which of you’ve seen the one important clue takes the fun out of the game.Overall, we have thoroughly enjoyed this!

This is a junior version of the classic board game, “Cluedo,” aimed for ages 5+ and for 2-6 players. The six players can be either Miss Scarlett, Mrs Peacock, Colonel Mustard, Mr Green, Professor Plum and Dr Orchid. This means there are three female and three male characters, plus a good choice of colours for players to choose from.Obviously, you cannot use a murder mystery theme for a children’s game, so, instead of who was killed, where and with what, players have to answer the following questions: ‘Who ate the cake?’ ‘At what time?’ and ‘With which drink?’I would say that, although the theme is obviously aimed at younger players, this is actually very similar in terms of working out who was where, when and doing what and, as such, it is not an easy game. I would probably recommend this for ages 7+ personally, but it obviously depends on your child. However, the quality of the board, pieces, etc. are excellent and this is a good, fun game for all the family.

We're really big fans of Cluedo in this house, already owning the original and a themed version. This junior version of the game is an excellent addition to the range! I always think that it's the simplicity of Cluedo which makes it so popular for all ages, and this version carries the same principle of working out who Dunn it through a series of elimination. However, what's nice is that the murder and weopons are replaced by a phantom cake thief. Now, I haven't had an issue with the traditional game and don't worry my daughter will have been influenced to whack someone over the head with a candlestick by playing it, but I DO like this idea. The pieces are the original characters, only the are actually little figures which are quite detailed and cute! This is a great quality game, fun and appropriate for all ages and has been a massive hit here. We love it!

I got this game for my kids, who I felt are still a bit young to "get" the original.I had to have a really good read of the instructions to get things set up and understand how the game is played. The kids were able to pick it up pretty quickly. We had to get used to not having our own pawn - you can move anyone on the board. Annoying if you are trying to get to a room then someone else swoops in and takes it.The sheets you use to figure things out has pictures so it is easy for younger kids. We've had a bit of trouble with the cutouts coming away from the base resulting in a lot of freebies for everyone as the base falls and sometimes ends picture side up.It is a good family game that can eat up a lot of time. The kids love playing it and are very proud of themselves when they solve the case.

Cluedo is a classic game and I was worried that a Junior version wouldn't work but I should'nt have been concerned, it actually works really well. It is a more simple version than the full game and rather than solving a murder, you are trying to find out who ate the last piece of cake. This is much more children friendly. It isn't a replacement or even alternative version of Cluedo for adults or older children but it is a great introductory game that can be a beginner game for children. I would say it is suitable for children age 6 and above, but it will depend on the child as some are more patient than others. We found it a fun game to play with a range of ages and because it is family friendly it is more appropriate than discussing murders and weapons.

This was purchased for a six year old and they took to this game very easily, beating just about everyone they played. It's great that the answers can be different each game. Even though I love the original idea, this is obviously more child friendly version. If you play it as often as we do, remember to photocopy extra sheets before you run out. I would recommend this game, instructions are easy to follow, though you might have to guide some younger children to what they need to do, but that's ok, they'll soon catch on. Mix ups can happen! and the end result may be wrong, but that is just down to human error, so be careful when mixing the discs!

As you can imagine, this game is “cleaner” version of the original Cluedo, where children have to find who ate the cake, at what time nd with what drink as opposed to who killed the character, what with, etc.It is a fun game, once you get into it, but it does take a while to explain the instructions to 5 year olds and to have quite a few tries for children to get the hang of it.As somebody who played the original game, I think they should have kept the instructions as simple as the original, so I would say that this is mor suitable for 8+ year olds rather than the 5+ stipulated.

You move around the board in the usual board game fashion, but after each person has taken a turn, you guess the time of the theft of prize, and culprit. Then all take another turn of rolling the dice, and guesses etc, until you have made 5 guesses. The winner is the player with the most correct guesses. A more advanced game when you are ready also allows guessing where the prizes are hidden. Simple game for my 6 year old, who really enjoyed it. Also the game can be quite short - nwe generally play several games in a row. Good value at the discounted price we got.

I bought a few games to keep us occupied while lockdown is going on, this being one of them. I have had some of the junior versions before and have been quite disappointed as they are extremely simple compared to the original games. However this version of cluedo is really good! It is simple enough so that my 7 year old completely gets it but it is still complex enough to keep the adults entertained as well. Would really recommend this game of cluedo with anyone with kids 5-10.

This is a fab game for little inquisitive minds however as it was a duplicate gift for my niece I returned it to the Middleton store on a very busy day a week or so before Christmas. The lady that did the refund and dealt with my other purchases was very good she didn't rush me along, despite the queue, and apologised for the wait explaining that due to a staff shortage I would have to wait again to collect my purchases very good customer service. Very impressed.

We purchased this at Christmas for our almost 9 year old son. The game itself takes a little bit of setting up the first time you use it but once this is done each game is easy to start and play, It is a bit advanced for our 6 year old daughter but is a great game for us to play with her older brother and I'm sure she will be able to play it too in due course. The game doesn't drag on and it holds our sons attention which is no mean feat, Great price too!

This is a great introduction to the classic game of Cluedo. It is initially designed for children but is great fun for adults too. Having two sides, easy and advanced level, it makes the game very simple for children to understand before throwing them into the full challenge of the mystery. The design of the game is colourful with fun characters and carnival rides. This is a fantastic game that can be played many times with all the family.

A great version for younger kids. When I opened it up I missed the original version which my family played when I was my daughter's age, however when we got playing it was fun and the simpler approach was easier to understand. If however you love the original just get it because it's got more pieces and it's a game we all know how to play... I had to read the instructions carefully for this one as there are no cards!
