This is great and we’ve had so much fun with it and still are.It is a definite five stars but a couple of things need to be notedFirstly it’s small....much smaller than I was expecting for something aimed at children. It’s slinky smaller than a Rubik’s cube for reference and the price is high.Secondly although it’s aimed at children I can see it being a fun executive toy sitting on a desk. It comes across much more like this than a child’s toy although children will have equal fun.Thirdly there is no volume control or a mute option which is .important if your children are young and noise is an issue. So about Boxer. Boxer comes in a box with a remote control, several activity cards, a USB charging cable,a ball and an instruction manual.Boxer comes with some charge so you can literally just turn him on and have some fun. His eyes light up, you pop him down on the floor and he’s off and running around making noises and engaging with the environment via sensors. He ones across obstructions and stops and then makes “oooh” noises and does various acrobatics...tipping himself on his back and then righting himself. We have carpet down in the living room where we’ve been using Boxer and I was impressed to see him cope well on this. I wondered if he would struggle but he didn’t. ...on most occasions. So then we came to the activity cards which is where the fun begins, you press a button on Boxer’s back and then stand him at the edge of the card...Boxer rolls over the card reading the code and then enters the actvity mode. One of the funniest of these was soccer card as you pop the ball in front of Boxer and he actually positions himself to “kick” the ball. You can even set up makeshift goals which he will send the ball into before shrieking “goooaaaaal” followed by a loud applause sound. He also has DJ activity cards where you interact with him to change the beat.Stunt showGo Kart....if you draw a thick line on a piece of card as a circuit and put Boxer’s wheels either side he will follow the path.Fortune teller where he answers A, B or C to questions.Laser tank.Sling shotPlus more.He chuckles and laughs, he tips over and says “whoopseee”Woohoo is also said....to some things. Then you have an app (BOXER BOT app) which can be downloaded. This has extra activities which you can send to Boxer and this then unlocks further activities. So many expressions, so many emotions and so much fun. We love it.Definitely a fun Christmas or Birthday toy....it’s aimed at children aged 6 and over but our 15 year old teenager loves it too. Fun for all ages I’d say.

We have two of these. They have been our children's favourite toy for a few months now, played with daily, which is unusual for something that isn't Fortnite. They have loads of personality, and enough different behaviours and responses that they don't get boring quickly. The two together respond to each other, not because they communicate in any way but because they respond to objects in general. Some of the fun things they do: explore the environment and make noises and movements expressing surprise, interest or fear of objects; follow your finger around; do wheelies if approached from behind; right themselves if tipped up; make noises expressing excitement or fear if picked up and waved around; laugh if tickled by rubbing the wheels underneath. There is a lot more. The behaviours are a good mix of random and response to stimuli. There are also cards and an app for triggering other behaviours. There's a downloadable track you can print out and they will follow the track, or you can draw your own. They can push a ball around. You can control them directly with the remote control. It's true that they can't be programmed in any way. They're just not that kind of toy. They are not without issues. The one we have had since Christmas is losing some of its ability to do wheelies and self right. It can still do these things but fails quite often, possibly because of some slack in the gears. Also, it lost its voice suddenly one day. I called the manufacturer who offered to send me a different toy as compensation because they no longer make them so can not replace or repair. I didn't want this, so instead bought a used one from eBay with the intention of having spares and attempting a fix myself. They are somewhat repairable. They come apart easily with just 4 screws. There are a few circuit boards and the speaker and proximity sensors are connected with plugs. I found that the speaker wire had been pinched and fixing the wire (which involved some soldering) fixed the problem. Another problem is that the charging connector is micro-USB and these connectors are fragile. I have trouble getting one of them to charge and I know at some point the connector will fail completely and I will have to get the soldering iron out again. They are not ridiculously fragile: ours fall off the coffee table quite regularly and seem ok. But you need to have realistic expectations. I'm happy with ours; but also I don't mind attempting repairs. If you expect years of trouble-free service you might be disappointed.

We're a techy family of two programmers, a budding engineer and all gamers, so this is neither our first robot nor first foray into robotic toys. The issue is that no matter how many models they bring out, or how many features they add, toys such as this, at their core, are limited in scope and have little room for evolution. The cost of a true robotic, with any sort of AI more sophisticated than a lengthy list of If statements, renders it unlikely to ever really break the toy market. In short, toy robots can only be, at their core, a lengthier set of If statements than the last lot.It works right out of the box, charging via USB should you need to. No assembly required. You switch it on and can then access various game or activity modes. Play mode means it will move or skitter about based on putting your hands near it, activating its motion sensors. It will turn if you block its path. There is a remote control mode; forwards, backwards etc.So far, so 1980.There are cards, each which invoke a different game. Football (it will detect a ball and move forwards to it). Bowling (didn't work; at no distance could it detect the pins/cups). Laser Tank makes sounds. They are very simple games, each good for a few minutes of play. They are easy to scan and make a sound so you know it has been registered. There is an app, with more simple games. Accessing the apps is simple. So, in truth, it's very fast to get going. The app. the card scan and the bot all work well. The thing is, after an hour or so you've pretty much seen all it has to offer. There are no unlockable stages nor will it claim to learn anything, like the Meccano Max, no construction, and it cannot be programmed or altered.Yes, it's fun, but it's Boxing Day fun, or a toy to get out from time to time. I feel that, like many robot toys, the overall gimmick is fulfilled very quickly and there's nowhere left for it to go. It cannot be expanded upon like a construction toy, it is too specific for imaginative play.Fun, but it's up to you if you feel it's £80 worth of fun. There are robot-toys out there that have more longevity than this, although few if any have as much as, say, Hexbugs, Stikbots or Lego.

When I first came across this, I watched a number of videos to see what it does. All the videos have the robot play the "la cucaracha" song and farting, which is really what sold me on the item, as my son is a fan of chillies and tacos I thought he would love it.It seemed expensive but the videos made it seem like it was well made....It is really lightweight plastic, I fear it will not last long once it has fallen off the table a few more times.and NO "la cucaracha" - there was NO "taco "card in the box.I am not sure if it is available in the app, but in every video there is a taco card, and that is what I was expecting in the box. There are cards in the box,but not the same ones you see in the video.there is a sort of Darth Vader looking one, which seems to be like a 3 symbol 8 ball - i.e. once he reads this card you shake him and he either shows ticks (yes), crosses (no), or question marks (maybe) - this was confusing as the cards don;t tell you what they are - just a picture and on the other side the encoding strip.we did manage to do a couple of flips, and we used the remote control which had batteries already in it, which was nice.also - the boxer robot had charge which was nice, it is always annoying when you give someone a toy and then they have to wait to charge ti before they can even try it out a little bit, so extra points for that.however overall a bit disappointed, overall feeling of...meh?cost £30 ish in August 2019 so not priced as much as the fully interactive robots for sure, maybe I had just got my hopes up based on the videos, but still really miffed that there was no TACO card in the box - it was THE selling point for me, and featured in every video - every one, so why is it not in the box - ??? maybe Boxer ate it > :-)

Wall-e esque noises make this an entertaining little blighter as it jitters and navigates its way around your floor either automatically or via remote control. It comes with some bar-code type cards which will “programme” what it can do but it’s all very limited - yet cleverly done.It comes with a white plastic football and if you use the football card, Boxer will see the ball, move back a pace or two, make a whistle sound and race up to the ball and “kick” it. Other cards will make it perform different tasks like wheelies or flips so it quite entertaining. There is an app to download and once you’ve downloaded and configured that, you can send the instructions to Boxer by swiping the digital cards.More can be earned or revealed as you use the app.The ability to put Boxer into remote control mode and use the small remote control unit to control it makes it more appealing as the programmed abilities would wear off quite quickly.I watched a video of how to control Boxer by tapping it with two fingers in various locations but not yet got hang of that.All-in-all it has made a successful Xmas gift for my soon to be 7 year old boy.

My 6 year old LOVES this and in fairness, so do the adults of the house.Boxer is quite small but he packs a punch. Turn him on and go - he does require charging but has enough charge to satisfy a child's enquiry. He runs around the room and makes appropriate noises when he comes across obstacles. You can play several games with him such as getting him to follow a line, fortune telling etc so he does retain your interest for quite a while.£80 is a lot of money for a toy, BUT, when you think some figures or licensed products (looking at you Marvel) can cost around £40 this toy does so much more and will last much longer. Can see this being big in the Christmas market.

I could not buy one as I have to grandsons aged 5 and 6 so two it is. Luckily they can work on different channels. Kids that young do not care about the program card they just want to use them as battle bots or too terrify the cat and they are pretty good at that. I have no idea how long they will last but they do seem reasonably durable. The remote control is a bit hit and miss but that is probably because two small people kept grabbing them back off me before I could to a proper test. Overall a good fun purchase and both I and my grandson are happy with these little bots.

Bought for child for Christmas and it's been the biggest hit of the year.A couple of months and interest is still there and it's going strong. There are plenty of reviews on you tube demonstrating it's functionality so I'll limit myself to my experiences.Easy to use with a fun personality that's kept kids and adults entertained. The ability to help it "learn" new skills provided some longevity but to be honest it's the character of the thing that keeps them coming back.Much cheaper than many other smart robot type toys out there, it's great value for money.

I've had an anki vector and sent it back.. Not going into that one but all I will say is Boxer at a quarter the price literally destroys it robot wars style.. Works straight out the box no messing with WiFi or Bluetooth and the remote is great to have also to control the little bad boy.. That good I bought another so I can actually send them to war on one another.Maybe I will get another anki vector so both Boxers can destroy him and use his body parts for robo food.Awesome box with a boxer in and nicely boxed.. To box it off get one

This is cute for a young child. I would say it is ideal for children from 3-7 years of age. Older children can play with it, but the novelty wears thin after a few hours. I love the fact it talks gibberish. Young children love it and is great entertainment for the young family.I would have liked more interactivity with the phone app, as some just seem very cheap. However, it is cheap and does things well. All-in-all it was great fun and young children will find this little robot adorable. Definitely, five stars in my opinion.

Well my 1st impression of this, was what the hell is this, it's a robot and you can't understand it, well I can't as her father, just mumble jumble....The stunt is okay, the remote control is ok, and the fact it does all kinds of stuff is ok. Just annoying that it makes stupid noises talking and you can't understand it, I was kind of hoping you can talk to it, and it talks back and it understands you literally. For the price, it seems a lot for what I paid not really worth it in my opinion. Thank you

Great little robot! My 10 year old son is DELIGHTED!!! Hours of fun, with such a cute little voice and lots of different emotions! the built-in battery doesn’t last too long (an hour or so with constant play) but it charges in about the same amount of time, so it’s not too bad. The remote control is very flimsy and won’t last long, it also requires 3x LR44 batteries (the small round ones), which can also be purchased on Amazon. Overall, a very good product and a great gift idea!

Brilliant toy! This is my sons favourite toy.You have to interact with this robot and he interacts back. There are cards for him to do certain Activities. If left he will entertain himself. This is a fun little robot and he even make little noises. The more you do with him you open more activity cards on the mobile app for him to do.It’s a good purchase for any children that likes interactive toys. Would recommend.

Bought this for my nephew who is 7 - he absolutely loved it! Loads of different modes to play with and the ‘intelligence’ of the little guy is incredible for the price you pay. Very interactive, appears to be very well made and, surprisingly, cute rather than irritating. Would definitely recommend - have not seen a present go down this well before - he didn’t stop playing with it!

My 9yo daughter loves this! Boxer does loads of tricks and games, lots of different modes and the app has instructions on how to use it, although it’s very easy to figure out. He makes cute sounds, sings and dances, his eyes change, follows your finger and even teases you and laughs. He’s like a little pet! Solid sturdy design and amazing value for money!
