We bought this when it was on offer for under £15 and, at that price it's a bargain given that my 8 year old fell in love with it as soon as she saw it and plays with it a lot.When you get it, opening the packaging is slightly annoying and confusing, you have to unscrew bits and cut ties in awkward places. It does come with batteries installed though, and these last well and are easily replaced (2 x AAA).Play wise, the bird chirps and sings nursery rhymes when you play with it and pet it - the feet are the right size for perching on little fingers. The bill moves, though not the wings and the best function is probably where you can press a button, record anything you want and have it replayed in bird tweets.

Fantastic little bird and cage. My 6 year old daughter bought this with her birthday money (£19.99) and it arrived today. She loves it. You can't choose which bird you get but hers turned up and it's green with yellow wings and looks very sweet. Had a quick read of the instructions and having much fun with it this afternoon. We've been recording all sorts of daft things for it to say and our two youngest think it's brilliant. There's a very short video attached (yes, daddy does have smelly feet ;-) ).Fits well into the cage and there is room for more than one bird. Stroke his back and he chirps away. Every now again when he's super happy he whistles a little song (London Bridge or Yankie Doodle in our case).Although packaging says for age 5 and up,

My 5 year old daughter bought one of these for £20. with some of her xmas money, she loved walking round town holding the cage after purchasing it, i've managed to hang the cage by her bed and we all have a go recording a phrase to hear spoken back to us, she prefers to keep her bird on 'try me' mode (what it is kept on in store)....as opposed to 'on' where it will continually chirp.....she rarely takes it out of the cage to play with but it is still used often.....her older brother of 9 years often shouts something at it to have it repeated in a high pitched tone followed by a whistle at the end....or records a burp all of which gets a laugh out of all of us.....so although you'd never catch

My daughter really really wanted one ..kind of held off as thought it would be a novelty because she wants everything that has ever appeared in an advert including washing liquid tabs, gel insoles you name it..but then she started to play with her friends little birds..and got hooked.. I ordered it at a reasonable price..came quickly.. A bit bigger than I expected.. And looks absolutely great..really happy with it and love the cage.. Also a great alternative to a real budgie for a child..but now realising her little brother is going to want one too :/ so think another purchase is in order for a quiet life

I'm reliably informed that this is going to be one of the 'must have' toys for Christmas this year, and indeed the chap in my local Toys R Us told me that they can't keep them in stock, so if the little person in your life wants one I would say get it now! Price is excellent, I ordered mine at 6pm on Friday and it arrived on Saturday morning, thanks to my Prime account. Very, very sweet little toy, runs on AA batteries, You can't choose the colour but they are all very pretty to be honest, mine was pink which my granddaughter will love, and you can buy additional birds.Highly recommend this one.

Wow these things have been a hit!! I bought 3 for the kids (3, 6 and 8 years old) for Christmas as little side presents not knowing what big hits they would be!!! Our god daughter came over and begged me for one for her birthday... so here it is. In Belgium you can only get the first generation birds which are shiny plastic and very flimsy looking and only whistle. These ones are fuzzy felt to the touch, bigger and sturdier and repeat all words and songs. Brilliant the kids LOVE them!! Even my 3 year old has learned how to use it!!

I bought this cage with extra birds or both son & daughter but was mislead by picture. I wanted more boyish colours for my son & girly for daughter but the only options now are sparkly & girly, despite pictures indicating boy with plain birds. My lad was disspointed so his were returned & the frog option bought. Which he is now over the moon with. My daughter however loved the sparkles and designs of the birds & cage. one out of two happy thankfully. Bought 3 for 2 offer so saved a great deal.

Bought this for my granddaughter, at her request, for Christmas. I was present when she opened the outer packaging and was obviously pleased to she had got it. However it then took me, with a pair of scissors, about 5 minutes to extract it from the packaging! watched intently by my frustrated granddaughter.Eventually the removal was complete, and much fun then ensued with all grandchildren taking turns to get the bird to say different things, not all of which were complimentary!Good fun.

My three year old was desparate for one of these "plastic birds" to be honest I thought it would be a one trick pony and would be yet another plastic tat item for our house but she absolutely loves it. It sings away and so far hasn't been too irritating, she can record messages on it and asks us to record messages for her. She strokes it and it sings to her which she loves. The cage is a bit flimsy and I don't expect it to last long but the bird is a lot more robust than I expected.

Bought this for my little girl for her 2nd birthday. It does state that it's for older kids but she is always supervised during play.I think the cage could be made a little better by having a proper floor in it and not a paper one as she ripped that out straight away but I like everything else about it. It's helped her understand how to care for something and give it attention.The bird reacts when you give it cuddles which is great and overall she rely likes it.

My daughter loves her Little Live Pet bird from Santa! The cage feels a bit flimsy but the bird is solid and has a velvety texture. The beak moves as the bird repeats the phrases you record and it plays back at an amusing high pitch. There’s a plastic key for recording a secret message and my only minor criticism is that there’s nowhere to securely store this, or clip it into, on the cage so it might get lost. Overall, great fun for my 8-year old daughter.

I bought this for my daughter's seventh birthday. She was instantly impressed, in fact, we all were, including my 35 year old husband who thought it was 'really cool'! We had great fun recording our voices and having it repeat it back in a much higher tone. At times we were in stitches! The cage is lovely and the swing can be detached so you can hang it anywhere. It's a lovely alternative to a real pet, and much less expensive and messy! Thoroughly recommend.

Bought this for my daughter for Xmas and so happy I did, she has had hours of fun with this it's like having a real bird without the mess!Bird whistles random tunes and repeats what you say - it also randomly repeats what you've said previously if it gets bored waiting. Most endearing creature and you can even buy it a friend (available separately) if you wish to go in the same cage, we will be doing this as it's such a great thing.

Just what my Granddaughter asked for, for her birthday, so she was very happy with it.The only thing against it was the packaging, far too much plastic, too many cable ties holding the toy in place, it took ages to cut it free and you had to be very careful not to break the toy. There must be easier ways to package toys, children want to be able to play with them when they get them, not wait 20 minutes while the bird is set free!

It's hard to give an accurate review of the actual product in this case, as I bought three of these to give as Christmas presents and therefore they've not been delivered yet by Santa! However, I was well chuffed that they were included in a 3 for 2 offer as I would have bought three anyway, and they look very well made and robust. As always, the click and collect process at Argos was quick and easy so a good job done all round!
