Got the Green T-Rex from Amazon and it went down brilliantly with four and a half year old. Then he had some birthday money to spend and saw the blue one in local shop, so we got it and it speaks French - ha ha! Not only that there is no option to change language - so we have a French Triceratops - which I am taking back to the shop and he has just chosen the red one on here instead. In year one, the boys exchange technical talk about transformers - so they seem to be the in thing these days. I can just imagine him saying - well no I don't have the bumblebee but I've just got a Triceratops that turns into a car and speaks French - ha ha.Have to say I think they are really good educationally. Our little four and a half year old can say 'Triceratops' perfectly - after two hours of playing with it, even though it spoke in French! Improves vocabulary as well as knowledge. And yes they are funny - you forget it's on and then suddenly this voice says 'I want to eat you' (the T Rex green one). The blue one just yawns suddenly. As for manual co-ordination type things - good - hands-on learning. My Partner was horrified at the cost - I think they're worth it - and anyway, as I pointed out, it's his birthday money to choose what he wants. Highly recommended - although think we might stick at two. Unfortunately he's just seen the new super duper one by V-Tech that costs about £50! AARGH!UPDATE 3 October - Well we now have three. He couldn't bear to part with the French one, and we had already ordered the red one. I would still like to hear Triceratops in English! Maybe he'll learn some French - he's already imitating it. He adores the red Pteranodon (one with wings) - personally I think this blue one and the green one are better - more transforming involved - but the red one starts singing in the background when left alone for awhile - ha ha! No more! They are expensive for a toy - worth it I agree, but getting more than one and it becomes expensive.

Four and a half year old saw this in a shop and said he wanted it. I said, no, too expensive and he got a little Bakugan transformer instead. But we always get him a present on his Dad's birthday so he has something to open too, so I ordered this on Amazon. It's a fantastic toy, and worth the money! They know don't they! They have an instinct for what is a good toy (usually). It caused us all great entertainment. It is educational too - he copies what it says sometimes so now knows it is a bi-ped and a bi-ped walks on two legs and can say Tyrannosaurus Rex. It goes into a kind of standby mode when not being played with, which is hilarious. It will be silent for a while then suddenly you hear this little voice "I want to eat you!" Recently, little one decided to spend his saved up birthday money and saw the blue one in a shop, so we got it. Unfortunately it was a French version! But also hilarious. I said I'd take it back and we would order the proper English version on Amazon - but he then decided he wanted to swap it for the red Pteranodon instead. So the red one was ordered, but meanwhile he had got quite attached to the French Triceratops as he said it sounded funny. So kept that as well - maybe he'll learn some French. Ouch - have now bought two of these - and he paid for one with his birthday money. Personally I think this green T Rex is the best of the three. But he prefers the red one at the moment. They all have some very funny sayings - some of which only happen when it is in standby mode. A really excellent toy that any boy will love.

Having bought a few real 'transformers' and found them too complex for my 2.5 year old, we grabbed this as it switches from car to trex in about 3/4 clicks. It's very tough, has bags of variety (although the voice is the same irrespective of which driver you select) and you CAN turn it off - hold the blue button on the right for 5 secs and it then says "goodbye" - just don't kick it in the night as it has a sensor which auto turns it on. You can also turn the volume to one of three settings which is a good idea. We've got loads of Wow toys, but these compliment them well as a noisy, flashier alternative.Great toy and plan to get more dinos and Vtech toot toot driver stuff for his birthday.

From beginning my 4-years old son was scared little, as this is loud toy. But when I switched the sound to the low, he was curious whats it that and then he told that it is a toy he ever want, then after night, with sleepy eyes, holding this toy he said to mother that I am the best daddy, cause I bought it to him :).Anyway: he has some Transformers, it was for him difficult to transform, but this Dino/Car is much more easier, it is talking, it is bigger and looks little bit more durable. But I think that the quality of the mateial should be little bit better, but it would increase the price.Overall, it is not really educational toy, or my imagination is poor, but as a toy it is very good.

My 3 year old son got given this for Christmas, although he had asked for it I didnt know how much he would use it. He has actually really enjoyed it. He only has one so that makes the amount you can actually 'play' with it slightly limited, but he has enjoyed learning how to transform this from a car into a dinosaur. the animation is a great bonus. I am hoping he will get another in the series for his birthday as I feel he would use it even more. It seems very strong and a great alternative to 'transformers' that are admired by young boys but not as easily transformed and not as robust. Much better for little ones. A good buy.

My not quite 4 year old got Span the Spinosaurus for Christmas and desperately wanted another dino as well. He used his Christmas money to pay me for this one. He loves the fact that, as a car, Rex will fit on the platform that Span comes with and he can therefore play with the two together/interacting. The voice is a little gruff and unlike the larger Span, does not appear to have an on/off switch or a volume control. Easy enough for him to transform from dino to vehicle himself and well played with already. He is yet to receive the Brachiosaurus that has been purchased for his birthday, but I'm sure he will love this too.

My 4 year old boy is obsessed with these toys and we're gradually buying them all though it seems some are hard to get hold of now. They all seem to have an on/off switch and volume control so I can't understand those people that mark it down for not having this. This one has a little black on/off switch underneath and 3 volume settings set by pressing a button below the screen. I assume some people don't read the instructions.Very well made and well designed in how they transform. Have bought similar priced transformers but they didn't have the screen and sound effects that set these toys apart.

I ordered this for a xmas pressie for my almost 4 year old son back in October as it was on offer and I just thought it would be a useful stocking filler. When it arrived I thought it looked a bit babyish.... how wrong I was. Both he and his 7 year old sister love it. It has been the most played with and fought over toy this Christmas. My daughter has asked for one for her birthday at the end of Jan. What more can I say.... a robust, no nonsense, non messy toy for a £10 - bring it on (perhaps I should keep quiet though just in case vtech put the price up and Amazon add the tax on???)!

My son received this as a present we absolutely love it. He was quick to move it from car to dinosaur. He likes the sound effecrs although I dont think he paid too much attention to the actual phrases. It is durable as his younger brother also likes to play with it too and it has withstood the pulling and tugging. A great combination of his 2 favourite things. I see that people say that it was small but I thought it was a good size for their hands not too big but not tiny. Bright colours I would recommend I do agree with the previous comment an on off button would be good.

This is a great little toy. We got it for my son's 4th birthday and he loves it. It says several different phrases/sound effects in both diosaur and car mode, and although they can get irritating after a while, they aren't too loud compared to many other irritating noisy toys! It has a feww steps to change from car to dinosaur, enough to make my son feel clever when he completes the change, but not so many that he didn't catch on pretty quickly. We are very happy, and would consider getting one in a different colour to go with this one next time a birthday comes up.

I'm giving this five stars because my nephew was so happy with this Christmas gift. He played with it for ages. It seems to be well made and was simple for him to work out the switching process from vehicle to dinosaur and back again. You can adjust the volume or even mute it (I don't buy any electric or battery toys that don't offer this essential element for adult sanity!). He was given two of the other dinos too and is pleased as, according to him, it is important that they can all have friends. A bit noisy when they're all going at once, but he loves them.

Bought this for my 3 year old son, he loves it but then he loves anything dinosaur related. It took a little time to work out how to convert it from car to dinosaur but my son sussed it out with a bit of help from me. My only issue with this toy is there is no off-switch so when he's finished playing with it, I have to listen to it roaring etc until such a point as it turns itself off. This takes longer than you would wish for and is annoying as it is pretty loud. Give it an off-switch and I'd have given it 5 stars!

I really love all the switch n go dinos in this range, we have a fair few and they are really durable, a toddler could mess about with these all they want and no parts will come away. It’s easy enough for little ones to work out. The sounds are good and change depending on whether a car or a dinosaur. The only reason I gave this one a 4* is because it is probably my least favourite design in terms of looking like a dinosaur once transformed compared to others in the range. But my son loves it equally to the others!

18.6.2016

This is the second Switch and Go Dino we have. They are great for a 4-year-old who loves transformers but is actually still a little bit to small for a proper transformer. This one easily switches from car to dino in about 4 moves and is sturdily built. So it can stand some rough pulling by your little one.In addition it combines many boys' favourite toys: cars and dinos. I have no hesitation in recommending these! The only negative comment would be the volume; it's fairly loud....

16.11.2014

I got 2 of these as extra Eid presents for my 2 boys. They were absolutely thrilled. Its easy to transform even my youngest son whose 2 yrs got the hang of it fairly quickly. They're very durable and excellent quality. Only bug bear is this seller limited the quantity to 1 purchase but I got around that by buying the other through my partner's account. I'm having to buy 2 of the same toys as the younger child hasn't grasp the sharing concept!
