The unit is easy to set up and functions very efficiently. Be sure to insert the batteries in the outdoor transmitter first, not the base unit, or you will get no outdoor readings! Allow a few hours for the radio controlled time to connect, or set the time initially yourself. The signal comes from Frankfurt between 2am and 6am Frankfurt time. Set the unit to display minus one hour for GMT in winter. The display is very bold and clear, and the units are solidly built. The weather "prediction" pictures are basic. Figures are very close to other thermometers I have, so are presumably fairly accurate.edit NOTE: DON'T BUY OR TRY TO USE TWO with a transmitting frequency of 868MHz.See below.I have tried it in my aluminium framed greenhouse about thirty meters form the base station, so the signal is strong through two walls.I ordered this model because it permanently displays maximum and minimum temperatures indoor and out. I should have looked more closely and read ALL the reviews on Amazon. Whereas the ongoing readings are pitched in divisions of 0.1 deg C, the max/min are not. They are only in whole degrees. Worse, if that actual maximum is 13.1 deg C, the max shown will be 14 deg C, not 13, and if the minimum is actually 3.9 deg C, it will record a minimum of 3 deg C rather than 4. Unlike many other models which show full details to the nearest 0.1 deg C on max/min by pressing buttons, this is not available on this model. Resetting the max/min data is easy and all are done in one operation. For this reason, what should have been 5 stars becomes 3.5 (but I can't do that and don't think it's quite worth 4).Let's hope it lasts years. Price quite good at around £23 on Amazon - if it's what you want - go ahead.edit 18 Jan 2104: I have just upped my star rating to four, because after six weeks the weather station is still functioning perfectly (within the parameters I describe above).edit: 5 December 2014 The unit still works OK. However, there is a new problem. I have bought another weather station for my second green house. The new TFA unit also uses 868 MHz and they both grab the stronger of the two signals and show the same data AND I DON'T KNOW FROM WHICH TRANSMITTER, so I can't use them both. There is no way on either weather station to change the wavelength or channel.

This replaces a Silvercrest as it finally gave up the ghost after years of faithful service. I'd lasted 3 months without it and decided a replacement was needed. It (this weather station) is virtually idiot proof to set up and was up and running in less than 10 minutes of coming out of the box. The indoor out outdoor temperature settings were displayed almost immediately. I've always liked to know what to expect outside before venturing forth. Unlike the Silveline it does not have a humidity reading or date but those were not really necessary anyway. Whilst only having three weather predictions (sunny, cloudy with a bit of sun and rain) it is considered more than adequate, for me anyway as you are also provided with arrows informing you of what is likely to come. In any event it cannot be any worse than the BBC weather forecasting can it? I note that at least one reviewer thought a snow/ice display would be useful, but to me if it is less than approx 3deg C it is pretty obvious anyway. The jury is still out on why you need to know the ongoing maximum/minimum temperatures (both indoors and out) though. Answers on a postcard..... Probably me being pedantic but a 12hr clock facility would have been nice but as they say you can never have it all. The readings/display are far bigger though which more than makes up for these 'shortcomings'. Bit of a tip if you live in the UK - set the clock for -1. All in all very pleased and if it lasts as long as the outgoing one did it will prove to be excellent value, we'll see?

Installed ok inside house and the remote sensor outside a covered kitchen door. Very easy to setup, just put the 2 sets of batteries in both units within 30s starting with the remote sensor. To get the right time zone went into setup and put utc-1. Manually set time no problem, shame its just 24 hour display though. Great its 868MHZ wireless, less interference with my other 433MHZ gear.Left for 24 hours and reset min/max to get a stable weather prediction. The auto time keeping by atomic clock is a great feature and my wall clocks do it as well, once less thing to maintain. 1 issue was the remote sensor which is definately not rain proof, the battery compartment is a joke with no rubber gasket, installed away from driving rain. The wall fitting for this just has 2 clips that hold the sensor, these will wear down or break in the future, not a robust design. I will look for something like a bicycle light holder.Overall a nice clean looking unit with an easy to read display, having internal and external temperature readings is very useful, improvement would be to include humidity values.

Works exactly as expected. I inserted the batteries (2 different sizes, AA and AAA) into the receiver and transmitter and the transmitter was read straight away. The instruction book advises the order and timing involved fitting the batteries, so it's well worth a read rather than wade straight in.Although the case is plastic it does not look cheap and fits well in a minimalist setting. As stated, the time is radio controlled via the German system and should update OK in the UK, It's certainly easy to set the time and GMT zone. The sensor for outdoors is robust and has a holder that can be attached to a wall etc.I have mine outside the bathroom window and it provides updates happily.I'd ratherthey didn't have the clock and alarm facility, but I knew it had that when I ordered to it's not a problem. The main reason I bought this was to check the outside temperature before I go jogging so as to know what to wear, and that it does fine. As long as people recognize the limitations of the device, they should be happy with it, I am.

If you do some looking around, this (around £32) is a great price for a weather station with outdoor sensor. You plug in some batteries and the device works. Unfortunately for me I now realise I really wanted something more complicated and dearer, and of course this is not something you would purchase very often. My biggest 'niggle' is the display only shows temperature; no humidity reading and pressure is only indicated by a rising or falling arrow.I also now know there are only three types of weather - sunny, cloudy and wet. We don't get a snow symbol if the temperature is under 4 degrees for example. Even my car does a frost warning!I also find the time has a tendency to drift around and setting BST /London isn't obvious from the multi-language manual.Apart from the above, I now know I really want integration to my PC, records over time, colour display...Re-reading the above it seems negative for four-stars; I refer you back to the price point

I wanted a simple digital thermometer with a large, clear display and this product fits the bill nicely. If you want a lot of features you might want to look elsewhere as this unit will only give you internal and external current temperatures and the maximum and minimum temperatures reached since the last time you pressed the reset button, along with a visual graphic of the upcoming forecast. I have largely ignored the forecast section as I don't trust in its accuracy but the thermometers seem to be accurate and the outdoor sensor pairs quickly and seamlessly with the base unit. The outdoor sensor is wall mountable and the fittings are supplied. The base unit has a stand or can also be wall-mounted of you want it at eye level. In all it is a great little product and is now something I refer to every day.If, like me, you just want to know the temperature and max/min temperatures then you will be pleased with this product.

Works over a much greater range than two other similar devices I have purchased in the past. The higher frequency of the radio link (868 MHz) seems much better at penetrating brick walls. It works fine over 40 m through a couple of walls. I like the fact that it simultaneously displays max and min temperatures, as well as the current temperatures, for both indoors and outdoors without having to push any buttons. Note however that the max/min temperatures display whole degrees only (no decimal places). Not a problem for me, but if you like (unnecessary) accuracy this might not be for you. Also good is that the higher capacity AA batteries go in the higher power consumption outdoor temperature sensor, and the AAA in the lower consumption indoor unit. With my earlier devices I was frequently changing the tiny AAA batteries in the transmitter unit. I haven't tested this yet but I hope this arrangement will be much better.

I bought this to replace an Oregon Scientific BAR800 that had an Outdoor Sensor failure two months outside of warranty. It has excellent functionality for the price – a radio-controlled clock and indoor/outdoor temperature readings with resettable minimum/maximum on each. We have the unit in our conservatory, and unlike some other displays the LCD is easy to read at almost any angle. It takes normal AA and AAA batteries rather than weird or expensive types. The maximum temperature reading is 39 Degrees C – which occasionally gets exceeded where we keeps ours. I don’t think that the weather trend prediction function is as good as our previous unit. This one tends to display mostly ‘pressure dropping and rain’ or ‘pressure increasing and sun’ and not much else. Perhaps this is because it lacks a humidity sensor. I’m giving it five stars as it is very good value for money.

We bought one of these 5 years ago. The sensor was on our fence and it survived torrential rain, frost and even being accidentally painted by our neighbour. Suddenly it started giving strange readings, varying by several degrees within seconds and a maximum of 58 at one point. Replacing batteries worked for a short time then it went mad again.we decided to replace as it had lasted longer than any other outside thermometer we've ever had. Replacement did not send a reading at all so was returned. We have now had another replacement which does work and is sending to both the old and the new indoor units so we can see temperature both upstairs and downstairs. We hope that this one also lasts 5 years. Our main problem is finding somewhere for the sensor which does not get direct sun at some time of day as this does result in very high readings.

i bought this product for my parents as i already had one and think they are a great idea. there are a couple of things that would have improved this product and that's why i have only given in 4 stars: the wireless sensor doesn't display the temperature so you can't see what the temperature is outside you have to go inside and look on the main display unit, i can't seem to get it to change to Deg F just displays Deg C, which is ok for me but older people sometimes prefer Deg F and most annoyingly it doesn't come with batteries, so make sure you have both AA and AAA in the house ! On the plus side the display is nice and clear and it shows the min/max for both inside and outside temeperatures all the time (which is something my weather station doesn't do).Overall i like the product and would buy one again.

My old weather station lasted for over 10 years and I was lost when it gave up the ghost on me. I looked for a similar one, but weather stations have progressed so much over the years. I just wanted one with simple information, easy to read and one that was able to be reset. Ordered it on behalf of my parents as a gift for me for Christmas, as they don't have access to the internet. It does exactly what it said in the description, was simple to set up (took approximately 30 seconds to pick up the information) and gives me all the information I need. I live out in the country and the temperature is always much lower than what they say it is going to be on the weather forecast.I wonder if it will last for the same length of time as my old one? So far, it is proving to be good value for money.

I bought this because it is the same as the one I have already got, and I thought I needed a new outdoor sensor as I had replaced the batteries in it and still I did not get a reading on the weather station. To buy the sensor alone was only going to be a £2-3 cheaper than the whole combination, so I thought I would replace the lot.I have discovered now having bought this that I should have also replaced the batteries in the weather station which continued to give a good display!so there wasn't anything wrong with the old one which means one should always replace both with batteries. I will not send this one back, I will keep as a backup.by the way the old one is a few years old same model so would recommend

This is my third of this purchase as it has always been the base station which has let me down, so I now have weather stations in three rooms. I've been recording the outside temperature at the time I get up since 2010 and the accumulated data is very interesting. I think it would be a useful and interesting venture for children. The only downside is the strange suggestion that the base station is not suitable for outdoor use! Where else could you record the outdoor temperature? However, my previous ones have survived for several years on an outside wall which receives the blasts of icy winds and the torrential rains which hit us from across the other side of the valley.

Recently the external sensor reading stopped showing so, assuming that the batteries in it were flat, I changed them but it didn't work. I followed the correct procedure: remove batteries in main unit and the external sensor, and replace them (main unit first) within about 30 seconds. It didn't work so I assumed it was knackered. A week later the main sensor died, so I replaced its batteries as well, followed the procedure again, and it worked! The lesson is replace batteries in both units at the same time I guess!I'm pleased it's working again as it's very useful for monitoring the temperature in the greenhouse, summer and winter.

Almost everything is good about this product: good design: clear screen, accurate and easy to instal and use. It claims that the wi - fi will transmit [I think it said 100 metres - I cannot recall the precise claim]. We had to bring the outside recording unit to within 5 matres of the house and line it up at the same level / height as our indoor receiver to keep it in permanent operation. At this distance it works perfectly. I did not test intermediate distances: in other words at which distance did the indoor unit begin to pick up the external signal beyond our 5 metres. Despite this comment I recommend this product.
