Have been using this for quite a while as an all purpose back up hard drive. I partitioned it with no problems to cater for both Mac and Windows. It transferred everything quickly the first time with ~700gb worth of videos and photos. Continues to be very fast. The silicone casing has proven good for its ruggedness. I carry the hard drive around everyday in an all purpose bag. It does get tumbled around constantly and on multiple occasions the bag holding it has been soaked through but I've not had any troubles with detection or any change in transfer speed. I've always made a note to seal up the port so I'm sure as long as you remember to do that there won't be able problems.

solid piece of kit, with the benefit of the silicon cover around it also means that you can have it with a laptop when you are on the move and it won't slide around everywhere. Fast file transfers and durable. Just what I was looking for.
