Got this cheap and am really rather enjoying it. Am not sure what the other reviewers were expecting but I've found the game to be quite engrossing (I can only guess they paid a lot more than a few pounds for it, which would probably make it a bit disappointing). Atmospheric sound helps to immerse you in the really rather pleasing variety of terrain on offer (bullets whizzing past your head works particularly well) and you often operate with other soldiers who are capable of returning fire without orders from you. OK, so the controls are a little clunky and you do occasionally encounter some slightly annoying glitches in the maps but, so long as you remember that this is dated by current standards,you'll find this game quite enjoyable if you like the sheer excitement of "Unreal Tournament" and "Men of Valor". The gameplay is third person perspective but the over-the-shoulder aim view is good enough to be absorbing. As it says in the blurb, the graphics are quite gruesome (unlike other games which don't display specific injuries, this one does depending on the weapon used and where the injury was sustained). The game makers obviously investigated rather graphic torture methods - adult themes involving murder and torture are frequent and not for the squeamish! Enemies take several shots to drop and are sufficiently challenging and varied to want to keep playing against (especially as there is no multi-player mode). Overall, if you like a fairly brainless blast using realistic weapons in a believable setting and don't mind the kind of gore you see in 18 certificate movies, get this now. Half Life 2 it isn't, but I've played far, far worse.

ok people have slated this game! ignore them ive played games all my life and i found the game play of shellshock nam exciting and enjoyable. its not just kill wats in the area and thats it the enemy keep coming. i enjoy fightin the vietcong over and over again rather than doing the mission! graphics 7/10 gameplay 9/10 over all rating 9/10 a good game for any nam fan!!!
