I was a big fan of the 'Hit the Road' game. Plainly put, it started me on my gaming obsession from when I was very young. I played it for years and years. It was an enormous game to out-do. I saw this one, and I was really excited. I started and even though I had the first one in my mind, I gave this new one a bit of leeway.The story is well-rounded, and there are some nice punchy lines in it that hark back to its predecessor, but it really doesn't come close. The way that there are mini stories within the plot, like a tv series, its not so enveloping as the first one.The controls. For some reason they really didn't sit well with me. I can't describe them,perhaps it was a mixture of my own pc's setup and my backwards way of thinking. They were frustrating, and even after a while of playing when you would think you would become accustomed to them, they remained frustrating. I spent about 4-5 hours playing and I gave up because of the controls. I came back to it a few weeks later and finally finished the game.So if you're thinking of buying this game, and you havn't seen the wonders of the first epic dos-style game, then buy this in the knowledge that you will be blissfully ignorant. It might make the game enjoyable, who knows.
