Loved this from the minute I opened it - have played 4 players so far but the game has the intrigue you would expect from the series. I have added deck protectors as the cards are a little flimsy. The game allows players to gain troops from territories & castles with income to match. You can also get gold from ports under your control. You use gold to activate your families character traits all of which can give you strategic advantages while attempting objectives. The aim is to amass 10 victory points first. You can also use gold to pay for Maeter cards which reflect a lot of the political intrigues. Our game was Stark, Lannister, Baratheon & Martell though the rules suggested Tyrell.I wanted to give all some space to find our feet. Martell started followed by Lannister and Kings Landing owned initially by the Baratheon faction become centre of attention as it provides a castle (1 towards troops & 100 gold) plus a port (100 gold) as well as access to all the eastern ports. Indeed seaborn invasions happened most turns as this allows you to keep your neighbours in check. Martell got to 8 victory points quickly but lost their stronghold to the Lannisters meaning they could not win the game until it was retaken. Stark had a slow start but once the north had been secured looked frightening (we placed for territory rather than dealt the cards out). Rich with money & having gained 3 knights using Maeter & territoy cards (each gives plus 1 to highest die roll) Lannister launched a further sea born invasion up the East coast to subdue the Wolves. In spite of a last ditch effort with siege engines (swapping two dice for 8 sided) the Lannister stronghold fell ultimately ensuring they won the first game. We really enjoyed this. The quality of the boards and pieces are excellent (there is a second Targarion board to allow either 2 or 7 player games). The rules are easy to follow and have clear examples. Not sure why the game is rated 18+ but there is a nice level of strategy to it.If you love other risk variants, this one is a must buy.

As a new Risk player, I decided to throw myself in the deep end and have a crack at the World Domination game mode and its brilliant. Strategic and challenging, it's a fun and often outrageously satisfying experience. Adding a Game Of Thrones backdrop only emphasises the ruthlessness of these war games and truly leaves you feeling like a Stark battling to regain control of the North.Beautifully and faithfully designed maps and a wonderfully illustrated and eloquently explained manual make this game an aesthetically pleasing, easy to understand and almost 'pick up and play' experience. Even for a beginner, the rules are easy to understand and follow. The manual includes scenarios and illustrations that excellently describe the action and a clear and concise layout helps the learning process along.Littered with fun and varied additions such as Maester cards and Character Cards that can alter the game at strategic moments, wonderful references and beautifully realised artwork and game pieces. Even the dice are lovely little tactile items who's design adds to the tone of the Westerosi backdrop. There's a genuine feeling of accomplishment and nerdy joy at invading kings landing with Ned Stark and co ...A classic battle in a modern and incredible rich new locale excellently realised and stunningly presented, this is a gorgeous item, well worth the price tag and a fantastic gift for both board game enthusiasts and Thrones fans alike.

I must admit I wasn’t sure about getting this game from amazon especially as I was after the Deluxe version and there were so many bad reviews saying they received the skirmish version or it was badly printed. But after shopping around and it either being out of stock or £101.00 at game.com, I did my research on the returns policy (just in case) and thought what the hell, why not! I’m so glad I did because I got exactly what I wanted. When it arrived I was sure there would be something wrong with it but I counted each piece and card and it’s all there and well made! The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 was because the corners of the game box were a little worn but I think (considering how it was packed in the box)this happened during the delivery process more than the manufacture.I’ve really enjoyed the game so far but am still getting to grips with it as I’ve only played the original risk game once before. I wish there were more pieces with each army but I’m guessing there is a reason for the limit.Would recommend this but would also strongly advise you check what you are adding to your basket and then check again at checkout to make sure you are getting the one that you want to avoid getting the skirmish version or a used version as it’s easily to click on the wrong one!

I loved this game from the minute I opened. The rules are easy to follow, especially if you have played another risk before. You will find some clear examples. The army pieces are good quality, but some of the house are much better made than the others, for example Lannister’s and Stark’s houses which are the main ones of GOT are ok, but aren't great enough, and then if you look at Baratheon’s house army piece, is amazing and actually my favourite. The boards are well made, but some of the name are so difficult to read due to they are written in the same exact colour than the background. Dices are just fine and you have the exact amount in order to play. (Do not lose any of them). All the cards are a little delicate I personally recommend to buy some cards covers to keep them nice and safe. Would be really helpful to have some jars, pouches or similar to storage all the tokens. If you buy GOT Risk you will spend a lovely time with yours friend and family playing that’s for sure, but keep in mind that you will need a whole afternoon to finished a game.

Everyone knows some one who is obsessed with Game of thrones right now and with the upcoming finale season this is a brilliant gift to get them as it can also include the whole family.Inside the box is a set of metal characteristics resembling Game of thrones in different ways: The iron throne, White walker king, the crown, three eyed raven, the dragon egg and a dire wolf. The game board is beautifully made it is just a shame that they didn't change the jail space, this woulda gave the player a more representable connection to Game of thrones and the game. other than the 'jail spaces' 'free parking' and 'pass go' this board has landmarks of each house within the show including The wall.Final verdict. If you don't already own a monopoly game but do know a G.O.T fan then this could easily be a gift or just some fun to have for a couple of hours, it is well made but some spaces ruin the aesthetic of the show.

Bought Deluxe game for my daughter and son-in-law as they are big fans of Game of Thrones (and I am a big fan of the original Risk game). This is a brilliant game although some of the names are a little difficult to read due to the colour of the maps, but if you dont mind that I highly recommend. So far we have had four family games nights with this game and have been up until 3am lol. We have played with just 3 of us and have recently played with 6 of us. The game is well made. Board is thick and sturdy and pieces are strong. Cards are good quality but I did buy card protector sleeves, which I would recommend) just to look after the cards. They protect the cards and are well worth it.I bought Ultra pro sleeves (clear). This game is brilliant and easy to learn. I would highly recommend. Be prepared for hours of fun and battle.

When it arrived it was the one I ordered. I have played a few games with it now and there are some drawbacks that could have been done better on there part. Risk is a great game and this version has really stepped it up into something else, there is more variety in the gameplay and you really don't know what your opponent has got up his sleeve, you can go into a battle guaranteed of victory only for him/her to play a card halting your advance while your painfully wait another turn.My advice is double check the version you order, if you just want simple risk get the skirmish version, but if you want a truly entertaining game get this it is worth the price.

Great board game, fairly costly but after having it about 2 months and playing it several times i'm glad i made the investment, it has provided many hours of entertainment. Having only played classic risk, and some axis & allies in the past i almost had to relearn the game from scratch, this version is incredibly intricate with so many different ways to win. Ive not yet managed to play with 6-7 people but looking forward to the day!TIP: if buying card protectors to go with it, go for medium sized ones and make sure to get enough, there are just shy of 200 cards in the deluxe version and most protectors come in packs of 100.

Playing the Game of Thrones Monopoly board game always feels like a good time with friends or family. It is easy to take casually since the names of locations are fictitious. As the line from the titular series goes: When you play the Game of Thrones, either you win or you die. The philosophy central to the HBO series lends itself nicely to the game play loop. This allows for either maximum immersion or casual dice throwing. This balance ensures that no feelings are bruised even after 3 hours of economic warfare. It will keep you coming back time and time again.

As a huge fan of GOT, I bought both Monopoly and Risk with Deluxe edition. Frankly speaking, Risk is far more delicate (and 10 pound more expensive).Package: It arrives the next day with very good protection. The box is a little heavy, 2.6 kg, but definitely a sign of good quality!Game: It has two maps (Westeros and Essos), 650 game pieces, gold pieces, record board, etc. Everything is just perfect! worth every penny I spent.I took some photos of the content, they look really cool..

FANTASTIC!!!!! really well made!!!! Game pieces are awesome, really really cool.Almost EVERYTHING is great about this.Only have one thing we would change and this is for those OCD ones out there... the layout of the box and where everything goes couldve been better thought out. Some things dont have specific places in the box for while playing.if you can overlook that (you should be able to its not at all a major problem) then absolutely buy this version!

Wow! As an avid GOT fan this was a great investment. My friend is always borrowing it and we've set a date to have a huge battle over a few bottles of wine. We also have LOTR Risk and it was great that this version adds different rules and aspects so it wasn't like we were just playing the exact same game.Definitely recommend if you have other people you can play with as if it's just for 2 of you then you can't play with the huge map.

27.1.2017

Came exactly as described, and is a great blend of the original game material, and Westerosi violence...which can be similar at times...Only complaint would be that the chance/chest cards ('Valar Morghulis'/'The Iron Throne' respectively) aren't very creative in their originality - some good quotes, but even though great quality, is probably its most lacking feature.

15.2.2016

Haven't played it yet (I'll update my review later), but I'm really pleased with this purchase. It's indeed the Deluxe Version for up to 7 players, there aren't any missing parts, delivery was fast and the packaging was sturdy so the box wasn't damaged in any way. In summary - it's really worth it, I'm happy I bought this game from Amazon!

I have never played risk before, but I am a huge fan of the Game of Thrones books and show. What a great introduction to risk this was. Have played twice and am so glad I purchased this as it really is alot of fun. Takes a while to learn the rules but once thats out the way its full on strategy against your opponents. Highly recomend.
