Initial impressions are very well made, robust burr grinding mechanism, nice woodwork. Idiosyncratic design, old school.Design..The square cornered shape is not the easiest to hold and you need a firm grip (and push downwards on the base whilst grinding) to ensure the grinder doesn't rotate in operation. It's a good morning work out lol .. takes around 30 - 40 seconds to do enough for a 6 cup moka pot. Not for weeds :). My wife struggles to use it so I may modify it by attaching a bigger base with a hand grip, although I have no problems in use.The catch tray for the grinds is square edged and you will get coffee grinds building up on these edges if you have static (see below for cure)Operation:Very good.Robust mechanism, consistent grind, adjustable, I can get a fine grind for moka no problem, coarser for filter when required.Tips:Anti-slip rubber mat under the base would help when grindingI add a couple of drops (no more) of water to a glass and measure the beans into that, then shake to slightly dampen the surface of the beans. This prevents any static build up and ensures all the grinds go in the drawer.I use a basting brush to clean it.Totally recommended. Functions as it should, looks like it will outlast ten cheap chines clones and looks great even with the old school design

We have been drinking espresso coffee for years and years, always from Italian brand packed ground coffee. We thought it's time to take a step up and start grinding our own.Very soon I realised the low and middle class home electric burr grinders are all useless, and decided to go for the old school traditional manual grinder.Bought this grinder without hesitation, unpacked it and started grinding away with quality Italian roasted coffee beans. We were amazed by the fineness of the grind on the tightest setting, just right for a perfect espresso!Took me three or four minutes to grind 125 Grams (8.8oz)which lasts us two or three days.True,it does make a bit of a mess when emptying the drawer, but I got round this by lining an old picture frame with a square piece of wood ,sanded and varnished it,and that is now the new home of the grinder.Grab one without hesitation if you love a first class espresso (or any other brew for that matter)and like things done the old world traditional way.

I bought this grinder as I wanted a nice grind for my cafetiere. The grinder itself is very well built and good quality with a solid feel. It grinds smoothly and easily and is easy to set the grind to how you want it. The grinding mechanism has a lifetime warranty and I'm sure this grinder will last many decades. This is probably the best hand grinder available.
