I played many, many various fighting games over the years but this is without a doubt my favourite one. I should mention that this review is written from a perspective of someone who, even in fighters, values good story and is a fan of Persona 3 & 4. I won't tell you anything about balance, frames of animation it takes to perform a kick or infinite combos, because I don't care.Although I should at least say something about gameplay. It's great and the way in which characters, which were after all taken from an RPG game, are represented in a fighter is excellent. Summoning your Personas to help you in a battle feels natural. Now let's talk about what makes P4A unique.Or what is important for a fan of the Persona series. The cast is, in a way, the most incredible I've ever seen in a fighting game. If you, like me, prefer to play as a character who is not only matching your play style but who you also like as a person, then you will have a lot of trouble here. When thinking about who do I want to play as, I simply can't choose just one. They all have a ton of meaningful backstories, distinct and extremely developed personalities. Hell, any one of them probably packs more substance than the entire cast of Tekken or Street Fighter. Yes, most of the work has been done in Persona 3 & 4, but transition to another genre was smooth. Characters have been preserved and they are just like you remember them.(By the way, I've just realized that more than a half of the cast consists of female characters and none of them are sexualised. Their personalities matter the most. This is in itself an incredible achievement.)The story is solid. It's initially silly and lighthearted, but if you were getting emotional while playing previous Personas, this one will move you many times as well. P4A brings characters of P3 & P4 together and seeing all of them meeting and talking to each other is awesome. The old cast is confronted with a burning passion and unbreakable bonds of students from Inaba. The new cast gets even closer and confirms their strenghts, while finding out that there are more Persona-users and other threats beside those in their small, rural town. It can be at times confusing to try and put all those separate storylines together, but the general message is clear enough. In terms of visuals, my eyes haven't been assulted so pleasantly in a very long time. Production value and quality are pouring out of the screen all the time. Having P4's graphics in HD on Xbox is a joy in itself. Portraits and backgrounds may be mostly static, but the color and detail make them a pure delight to watch.Same goes for music. Few of the tracks have been taken straight from P4, with some additions from P3. I don't mind it at all, because I never got tired of those tunes. They also help to bring back memories. But there are also many new songs, as great as you would expect. There are many things which I probably forgot to mention, because there are countless little details which I love about this game. Overall, P4A takes P4's unique style and uses it to great effect. If you don't dislike fighting games and loved P4, give it a try, it should be a very rewarding experience. If you didn't play any Persona before, gameplay and style should be good on its own too.

I haven't bought the game as of yet but I've been round a mate's for days playing this game non-stop. I thought I'd give a fresh review, since the other reviews were based on the apparent previous title of the listing which was 'Limited Edition'.Now that it's not listed as that, I'd like to say that it's fine now, you get what you pay for. Which is a fantastic 2D fighter from the same creator's of Guilty Gear and Blazblue. I've played those two and P4A trumps both other series' in my opinion! I've never played the Persona games or even heard of the franchise til I learnt of this game, and without, frankly giving any care towards the original Persona games, this game is definitely worth picking up if you're into 2D fighters. It's colourful, pretty, flashy, satisfying, deep, has a really deep game mechanic that doesn't take too long to get used to and understand, it's really well thought out and has an awesome style of graphics like H.U.D, menus and loading screens.I can't say for a Persona fan, but for a fighting game fanatic, this ticks almost every box, 5 stars! And in response to another review, this Definitely has 2 player modes, it's a 2D fighting game, of course it does! Would be literally useless without it! Would be like having a Chess board with only white pieces! :LI'm gonna go buy this game myself, toodles!J

STORYThe story is a continuation of Persona 3 and 4, and the characters from both games meeting each other. This does mean that only a fan of the older games will understand what's going on, and if you do, you'll love it. Every character has their own story arc, which is pretty much the same story from another perspective. The "feels" isn't as common as in other games, although one story arc is really emotional. Some of the arcs can get boring due to them being essentially the same story against different opponents, the important stories are Yu, Chie, Naoto, Mitsuru and Labrys.GAMEPLAYThe gameplay transition to a 2D fighter was handled by Arc system works, and they did a fantastic job with it.The controls feel right and responsive and is great fun, although a challenge to learn. The only issue I had was using the d-pad, as it's shockingly bad on an Xbox controller.GRAPHICSThe graphics here are gorgeous, whether it's the anime cutscenes, during the in-game fights or the stills during conversations.SOUNDThe music and voice acting is top notch here, voice acting executed perfectly and the music even comes in a CD boxed with the game

First of all the graphics are amazing and you also receive a disk with some really good songs featured in the game and slightly remixed. If you have played Blazblue then this game is perfect for you as it features and in depth story not seen in many fighting games that is so huge it will have you playing it again and again trying to find every ending. In total there are 12 playable characters (I believe) and each character has a basic combo to allow for an easier learning curve. Each character has there own persona that you can use to further you combos or shield you from attacks. Some of the game modes are Story mode, Score attack, Arcade mode, Versus Mode,Training mode and Network mode.In all this game is worth every penny although a problem for some people (luckily not for me) is this game in my personal opinion requires an arcade stick to really play to a high level. Although this can be true with many fighting games.

I have been playing Persona 4 Arena since it released on 10th May and i can honestly say this game is absolutely AMAZING !!!! It is the sickest game I have ever played. The graphics are high quality and it is fast and responsive. I haven't even scratched the surface of this game yet, as there is loads of story mode about the characters that I have only just started to look at.....if you are looking for a fighting game that gives you more than just pressing the same buttons over and over again, then Persona 4 Arena is the game you have been looking for !!!!!

So I got this for my son (too old for this myself) and he disappeared with it. I hear gasps and cussing from his room every now and again, so can assume that everything is working. When he came out for food, I noticed he had the sardonic smile of a true gamer in the middle of a critical conflict. The speed at which he ate gives me great concern for his digestive system, but he is back in the game, so that's got to be a great testimonial to it.

When I tried out this game for the first time, I really like it. This game reminds me of UMVC3 because the inputs and the combos are really easy and more fun. If you are a Persona 4 and a Blazblue Fan, this is the game to play. Now I see why this game won Fighting game of the year 2012 :)

The game it self is good and entertaining and the story is amusing, the game resembels guilty gear only with persona character , the fighting is much more simple the in the other fighting games so if you want to start playing fighting games this would be a good start
