First of all, this is an absolutely gorgeous pen in both craftsmanship and design and it continues Parker's long history of great writing tools. For anyone that has never held a beautiful Parker pen in their hands, the heft and solidity feel like nothing else and these pens write with a gracefulness that is kind of shocking at first. Like most people, I do most of my day-to-day writing with a pen that came from the dollar store, but being a writer, I guess, I have always appreciated finely crafted pens. But there is another reason that I like them so much...Growing up I had a relative who was a doctor who apparently had some very well-heeled and successful patients and every year he would receive several Parker pens as holiday gifts.Being the thrifty and simple person that he was, he did his notetaking with inexpensive throw-away pens all day long, and he thought the pens were a crazy luxury that he didn't need. Because I was a struggling writer and I guess he thought I needed some small luxury in my life he re-gifted most of them to me. At first I thought he was joking when he told me what they were worth, but I decided to keep most of them in mint condition--though I wrote with the very first one he gave me and 40 years later, I still use it almost every day (when I can find it and remember to buy refills, lol). Can you imagine that? Forty years. Later, when times as a writer got tough, I asked if he minded that I sold one now and then to raise cash and he thought it was a brilliant idea. I felt bad doing this until a read a short history of Parker pens and learned that the company's founder, George Safford Parker, started the company by selling pens to his students in the mid 1800s to make ends meet! (He didn't introduce a ballpoint until 1954--the year after I was born!)I guess the point is that you don't buy a pen like this because you need an expensive pen to write your grocery list. But people who collect and use these pens do so because they have some kind of connection to them. We had a lawyer in the family that used to tell me that he had never signed any contract with anything other than a Parker fountain pen and it was a ritual with him to then give the client that very pen. Personally I think he did it out of superstition, so that he'd win the case. (My mother always regretted that I didn't follow his footsteps into law--not on your life pal!). So in my case my connection to these pens started because I thought it was amazing that my relative thought enough of me to give me these very expensive pens and though he is gone now, I still think of him every time I pick one up to use.All of this said, this particular rollerball pen is one of the most beautiful Parker pens that I now own, though to be honest, they all write nicely. I am not sure how much I'll use it, but just holding it was a blast and brought back old times. The gift box is beautiful, by the way. The great philosopher Alan Watts once wrote an essay about the term "materialism" and he said that people misunderstood the term. To him materialism mean appreciating the fine quality of a material good--a coffee table, a hat, a lamp, or a pen. It wasn't about the price or the value of something, it was about acknowledging its beauty and craftsmanship. I completely agree. It's nice that pens like this still exist though, let's get real, if I had not been introduced to them at a very young age (and for free!) I would probably think people were nuts to spend this kind of money on a pen. Who knows, maybe they are. For me though, I'm glad to have a new member of the family.

People buy pens because they collect them, love words or enjoy the ritual of writing, and if serious about any or all of these things a precision writing instrument may be a treasure. I am definitely one of these people. Many factors come into play when deciding whether a pen is a good match for an individual because when well-designed, writing with it is not only effortless but satisfying. The relevant characteristics include the weight, shape, finish and texture of the pen—how it feels in the hand. When everything is in harmony the pen makes the characters flow on the paper in a cleaner more controlled fashion. This Parker Premier ballpoint pen has a subtle non-slip finish that makes gripping the pen easier. The weight is well-balanced and not excessively heavy but substantial enough to have a quality feel the moment it is held. The barrel size is not thin but also not over-size which can be tiring to hold. Both the slightly textured grip and the basic shape of the pen allows for longer periods of writing. With a ballpoint, the weight of the pen is an advantage because they require pressure to release ink on the page. So, this pen’s weight helps reduce some of the force necessary to write, again reducing hand fatigue. The design is described as modern but I think it has a timeless look with its handsome organization of silver lines and boxes on a matte black background. The company is well-respected and long-established in the business of creating quality writing Instruments. Refills are readily available and the packaging is beyond impressive. This is simply a beautiful precision pen and a pleasure to use.

The Parker Premier Ballpoint Pen in Luxury Black is a beautiful contraption that is both aesthetically pleasing to the eye and a pleasure to write with.I am not purveyor of fine pens or really knowing anything to give me context from a collectors point of view. I can't speak to the value or history of this product. That being said when you hold this pen in your hand, it is certainly an entirely different contraption then when you hold a regular ball point in your hand, despite the fact that its function is the same. The weight of the pen is quite heavy and I don't think you would want to use this for writing a manuscript by hand. It does have a very smooth writing action with no blobbing of skipping. The pen is very comfortable to hold feels like a solid piece of metal in your hand. The metallic printing on the case is intricate but not busy. I think this pen would be best served for special case scenarios and for using in business settings with important clients if you're not into collecting.

One of the small little luxuries that I've enjoyed over the years is a good pen. For years (and years and years) I used a Montblanc but it's time has long come and gone. When this popped up I thought what the heck - why not give it a go. Now, admittedly Parker is not a name I ever really associated with a top quality pen but rather office level. This is not the old fashioned Parker pen; instead, it's a modern improvement with sleek style, nice weight and comfortable ink flow. The pen is a bit top heavy and the rotation a tad less smooth compared to other luxury pens - details that Parker will need to address to truly compete - but is an impressive start. The presentation box is nice - suitable for gift giving - although I expected an additional REFILL rather than a single cartridge that came installed in the pen. Overall a quality product with sleek, contemporary appearance.

You can go out for a fancy meal once a month or weekly and live it up, so to speak. (I mean fancy not just out to dinner.) And you might spend a 100 bucks a time and you enjoy your meal and the company you are with. This pen is like that, but better since you will have this pen probably forever and use it occasionally, but many times and when you do you will be living large. If you can afford fancy meals out now and then you probably can afford a 100+ dollar pen. Should you buy one, though? That is a harder question. If you buy fancy cologne, shoes, belts and/or ties why not a pen too that you will use a lot more? this Parker pen is classy and is just nice to write with. Unfortunately, not everyone has much of a need to write too much anymore (not with ink, I mean), but if you do so at least occasionally then consider splurging on something such as this fine Parker pen.

I was very excited to get this pen. As the one that fills up Christmas Stockings at my house, I never get much of anything in my stocking other than some candy. This year, I will have this pen in my stocking as a gift to myself.I did open the box when it arrived. The pen feels comfortable in my hands, the ink cartridge was intact in the box along with instructions. It came in a gift box (sized for Christmas stocking!) and was very presentable as a gift. Now to make sure I don't lose it as my hubby and son like to pick up pens from my desk area, use them and never return them. Giveaway pens from doctor offices, etc. I don't mind too much when they disappear, but a pen like this with its price point,I want to know where it is.I will try to write more of a review after Christmas, but for now it appears to be everything as described.

The Parker pen is a heavy pen. We are usually buy a pack of pen people, so this is very different, and the good news is we can feel the difference. The weight of it is lovely. Liking the diameter is really going to depend on if you like thin pens, thick pens etc. This is between a thin and one of those really thick sized pen. It is metal and has no grip, so at first it seems a little slick but within a few minutes I had adjusted to writing with it.The ballpoint just rolls over paper, it's hard to describe how different a pen can be, but this is like writing with silk after writing with polyester all my life. It is so smooth, so easy to write, it's really kind of incredible,as it should be.Would I have a house full of these pens, probably not, will I cherish this one and use it and feel special while doing so, yes.

When is it proper to spend 300 bucks on a pen when you can walk into any bank and get one for free? The answer is simple. When the utensil is a piece of art and performs as one and on both counts the Parker pen fits the bill. It is a beautiful pen and one that you will surely get compliments on. The writing is smooth and even though penmanship died 30 years ago, it will want to make you write more and as you do so remind you of the nun staring over you in 3rd grade making sure your cursive writing was up to snuff.I know it's a lot of money, but it is the difference of driving a Pinto with an Audi and for those who enjoy style with utility you can't go wrong.

This review is for the PARKER Premier Rollerball Pen, Luxury Black with Chrome Trim.I am no stranger to Parker pens; I was given beautiful slim gold/basket-weave one when I entered high school and I still have it, 32 years old and still looking the same it did as the day I got it.This is a modernized classic and is suitable for a business executive. The pen comes in a really nice Parker gift box, making this a great gift item. This pen is the fine point style and it writes very smoothly and effortlessly. It fits the hand perfectly and has great balance. Not much more to say - this is an exquisite writing instrument that will last a lifetime.

What a handsome and elegant pen this is! I've owned many nice pens over the years including a Parker that is my every day go-to writer. But this Parker Premium is without question the finest writing instrument I own. The design is sophisticated, the weight and feel is superb, the aesthetics are worthy of a double take.In a single word, this pen is prestigious. The details are exquisite and it is a pleasure to use. The combined effect is a precision writing experience that will make you glad that you chose Parker Premium! The pen also comes in a very nice box.

Okay, so I've never spent more than $20 for a pen. Ever. In my life. And I'm a writer with a pen fetish. So, yeah, I had to try this $300 pen to find out if there really is a special sort of magic when you touch a Parker. I picked this thing up, and now I'm a convert. I might have to re-mortgage the house just to pay for my pens from now on.Upon first lifting this pen, I found it's a perfect size and weight. It's just comfortable to hold. The balance is perfect. The ink flows well, with no smears or stutters. This pen screams success.

Parker pens have been around for a long time and each one works well and many are a work of art. This pen is very art deco and could be used by men and women. The one caution is that this is a heavy weighted pen. It helps in writing some nice swirling penmanship.Parker pens are by appointment to her Majesty the Queen and HRH the Prince of Wales. The box is appropriately elegant and would make a wonderful presentation or a wonderful gift for yourself.

23.9.2017

The unboxing experience is well done with this pen. The pen itself is a fashionable ballpoint pen that balances ok - I thought it was a little too top heavy. The pen also has a constant ink flow and is smooth. I'd compare it to some upper-end ballpoints I could find at the local office supply store. However, you could say the same about collectible watches. The pen looks like a quality expensive pen and fulfills that purpose.

I've had a few parker pens in my life, but I doubt I've ever used one as nice as this! It's a beautiful heavy weight, and writes in a superfine line. It looks absolutely beautiful! And it arrived at just the right time for us. We're working on a start-up company, and we're always dealing with paperwork. This is the perfect pen for commemorating our launch, signing contracts, and will probably end up framed on our wall.
