Firstly i'd like to thank Amazon for there fantastic speed of delivery as i received this item the day before release!Once again the commentary in NHL is excellent! for example if you score an amazing goal or produce a huge hit they will often reference the NHL Network or NHL on the fly which are highlight and analysis shows dedicated to hockey. E.G. "I'm sure that goal will be replayed on the NHL network all night" or "I'm sure the guys on the fly will be talking about that for some time."Secondly the new feature in the Ultimate Team is the 24/7 opponent. Basicaly EA sports provide you with an AI opponent to play against any time on any day, usually they are made up of the players of the week.

Being in the UK and a devout Canuck fan means that my opportunities for getting my Hockey fix are limited. I've played NHL05, 07 and 11 and looked forward to the latest installment of the franchise. Graphically it doesn't differ much from 11 (not entirely unexpected... if it ain't broke...). Revamped intro scenes and video replay systems are good. Highlight reels from within the game - just like watching the real thing add distinctly to the realism. The physics engine has been improved again, collisions are more realistic, puck control is more difficult, helmets pop off, glass can be smashed and now checks can even bench opponents! The winter classic option is cool but basically its just a different background.

I really like ice hockey, it's skilful, fast and powerful, and has all the razmatazz of your typical US sporting event. EA have successfully transferred this on to their NHL franchise since the very first game back in 1993.The 'game' store I bought NHL12 from wasn't even displaying it on the shelves; I had to ask at the counter and they had a few copies tucked away in the draw. Ok, ice hockey isn't exactly the most popular sport in the UK, but given the success and quality of near-20 years of EA NHL games i'd have thought it was a little more marketable.This game is the best NHL i've played - they just keep getting better. I won't go into the detail, as the other reviews have done that,

As someone who was completely new to hockey games this was a great game.It has lots of different leagues besides NHL, so there's a tonne of content here with 100's of hours worth of fun. The game also has a simple two-button mode so that beginners like myself can get into the game.This was also a smooth way to gradually learn the more complicated moves, increasing the technical challenge. The in-game commentaries can get repetitive at times but overall it added much to the atmosphere and immersion.You can customize basically everything in the game, from the gameplay set-up to your team's gear. There's also a large number of game modes, from one-time matches to whole tournaments.As this is the only NHL game I've played,

I'm not a massive hockey fan (though I follow it casually) but I really enjoyed the game. It's got a great feel to it and multiplayer, in particular, is a lot of fun.As someone who had never played this series before, I found the controls a little confusing the first couple of times I played the game. There's a lot more to consider than you have in other EA Sports games, like FIFA, where the action is pretty much controlled with a couple of buttons. The controls are actually quite intuitive once you get used to them, though, and even the most Luddite of my mates eventually started to get into it after a few games. You can also simply change it to a more conventional control system if you want.Overall I'd definitely recommend it to other people who (like me)

Overall, a very impressive installment to the NHL series. A vast improvement on the previous incarnation. Multiplayer mode is very enjoyable - the gameplay is fantastic, and career mode is impressive, if not a bit repetitve through time.Only problem I've had is in GM mode or Season mode with the game stalling at certain calendar dates and being unable to continue the season. Aside from this flaw a cracking game and EA sports deserve great credit for subtly enhancing the game without making wholesale changes to the gameplay (i.e Fifa 12).

They always improve somethings but make some things worse than previous as in true Capitalist Pig fashion. In NHL11 you experienced the player attributes much more so than in NHL12. It's like the cure for cancer, they know it but they're making for too much money to want to change it for the better. Asides from that its still a great game.

Been a fan of this series since NHL 07 and never been disappointed. I play this almost exclusively as a multiplayer game with a couple of friends, and I think it is probably better that way.The game looks great, feels better than ever, and will probably suffice until at least NHL 14.

i don;t buy sports games (except this) but on a rainy or dull afternoon, or even after school, it's a lot of fun to play and it hasn't left my xbox since september!

Before this NHL, I used to play NHL09 which is not comparable to NHL12. This is way more better. I really enjoy playing Be a Pro mode. Great sports game.
