Personally I'm not a fan of cluedo... it's a game of rolling a dice waiting for everyone else to do the same... then maybe you get to a room and ask a question.... but then you have to roll again and wait for your turn......On the surface this seems simular. Your trying to find a person object and place that a person was murdered. What makes this so good is that one player plays the victim and communicates through visions... which in this case is a load of random cards that whilst are beautifully drawn look like the artist has been on some intoxicants. The ghost will try and match the card they give you with the person weapon or place they want you to guess. They will then give one to your friends who are also trying to guess...a completely different card. This is all done at the same time, even better, your on the same team so your team mates can help you.The main reason this game is so good is that the ghost can't speak at all.... the frustration of watching someone pick the right card only for a friend to say "are you sure its not this one?" And then they pick something completely different is hilarious.Basically this is a fix for cluedo and as far as I'm concerned everyone should get it. It's a great family game and because it can accommodate up to 7 players it's pretty good for groups too.

I got this game as a Christmas present from my boyfriend, and it really is an amazing game. Absolutely beautifully constructed and illustrated, with a wonderful attention to detail. The story is great, and I love the gameplay. The theme seems similar to Cluedo in that you have to figure out who committed the murder, where and with what weapon, but that's where the similarity ends. The gameplay is completely different and I love the added supernatural element. If you have played Dixit, the vision cards have a similar feel to Dixit cards (because both games are made by Libellud).I think the best thing about this game is that you don't lose much complexity by playing the two-player version, something that tends to happen with other games that can be adapted for 2 players. This game is never the same either, as whenever someone else is the ghost they interpret and send visions differently which makes it exciting and new each time. When we play we like to have a little fun with this one and dress up, make our own spooky sound effects and put on a creepy soundtrack in the back to really add to the supernatural feel. Truly one of my favourite games in our collection!

Really high-quality game, with fun team gameplay! We've played it a few times, and it's totally different every time. The board game has enough pieces to make it fun and special, and all of high quality (my biggest gripe about modern games is that they often seem so cheaply-made). The artwork on the 'Vision Cards' is beautiful, as is the design on the rest of the board. Gameplay is different for 2-3 players and 4-7, and can also be adjusted for how difficult you want the game to be: it does take some time to sit down and read and understand the rules, but a slow game with the rules open and it won't take you long to pick it up. Suitable for teenagers and up.Gameplay has a set end-point,so it's not totally open-ended like Monopoly. The background to the game is very atmospheric and you can amp up these aspects during gameplay if you have a good storyteller among you!BEST THING - all players are working towards the SAME goal, and everyone has to help each other out. Either everyone succeeds or everyone loses, making for a more enjoyable game.Absolutely recommend buying this board game: I bought it for my sister and then one for myself too!

Wanted game for self but as partners' birthday was fast approaching I had a rethink, and gave it to him as a present, (though I did make it clear to him, telepathically, that if he didn't let me play he'd be playing the Ghost for real!!). Am still waiting for his reply. (Probably lost in the ozone layer). As we struggled with the written rules I watched a YouTube video which made things a whole lot clearer. The artwork is incredible, especially the screen for the Ghost, and although the vision cards look like they've been designed by someone possessed by several spirits, they do make you think, and you get to exercise the 'little grey cells'.Having played the game several times I'm now addicted and waiting delivery of one of the expansion packs. He has ordered the Mysterium park game. (Can't wait!!).(Am living in hope that, one day, there'll be a Mysterium mansion style theme park with real Ghost or character from Ghost's series).

I chose this because it's a co-operative game without highly intricate rules. We found it cleverly designed and fun to play but surprisingly difficult and it took much longer to complete a game with 5 people than I expected from reading the reviews. It's best with 4-6 people. It has similarities with Dixit, which I think has the edge as it is simpler and just as challenging and entertaining. It's moderately easy to learn. It will take a few minutes to grasp and it's worth looking online for a video although the instructions are reasonably clear. The first video I tried was very poor but the second was excellent.I don't think I'm allowed to put urls here but look for the one by Shut up and Sit Down (not the one by Roll for Crit).

Mysterium, from the makers of Dixit, is clearly an evolution on a well-polished and popular theme. For those not familiar with the game, you either play as the ghost of a murder victim communicating with psychic investigators through fevered visions (similar to Dixit cards) or the investigators trying to discern the identity of the many murder suspects and their implements/locations of choice.I find the components to be well-made and the overall atmosphere to be intriguing, particularly if the right ambience (a wet, stormy night) can be achieved.A fun game I'd definitely recommend for families, gamers, parties and as a gateway into gaming for those less fond of rules compared to experiences.

Mysterium is currently our favourite. We enjoyed Dixit quite a lot before but we favour Mysterium to it as the theme and the purpose of solving something adds a great deal more to it. We also prefer cooperative games to competitive ones as we get along quite nicely. For our group, it is on the levels of Forbidden Island or Pandemic in terms of enjoyment. It is said to be a mixture of Dixit and Cluedo which I agree with, however I never really liked Cluedo much other than the idea of it - but Mysterium has a clever way of making players really think through the game..not to mention the challenging and ingenious addition of the ghost player. Highly recommended!

So I recently played this game at a friends and had to add it to my collection. The artwork is very appealing. The game play a little confusing, but once you know what you are doing, it's a great game. I played this with a large group of people, but will be playing it 2 player soon.My only issue.. how it was packaged to me.. I'm all for keeping the box intact, but felt the excess of shredded paper was ridiculous.Mainly because I spent more time cleaning up, than setting it all up. (The paper clings to everything)Otherwise it's a good game, just takes some getting used to; and if you play with someone who knows the game already, even better.

This is a fun game. It's quite visual based with the one person giving clues based on their interpretation of images on various cards. I've only played it once so far and enjoyed it but I wonder if it gets a bit samish once you've played it a few times and discussed all the possible interpretations of the images? It also helps to know your fellow players well as it helps you to guess how they might interpret the various images. I did like the discussion element of the games as all the players are involved pretty much all of the time. My only negative is that it is quite expensive.

This was purchased as a birthday present for a close friend but I have since played it with him. The art is incredibly beautiful and it is a fairly simple game to understand the rules of, but, in my case at least, less simple to actually play depending on what clues you are given to match your cards. I think this depends on the skill of the person giving the clues, however, so I can’t really fault the game. Over all, if you enjoy table top games you can’t really go wrong for the price. My friend assures me it is well played and loved between him and his partner.

I think you can say that Mysterium is Cluedo (aka Clue) with a supernatural twist. The game has a lovely presentation and the theme chosen is carried throughout the game. Setting the game up, as the "Ghost" can be a bit difficult the first time but totally worth the effort once the game gets going. Cooperation among the players playing as "Mediums" is encouraged. The player playing the Ghost dealing out clues, cannot communicate with the other players verbally but only via the vision cards that make part of the game. Overall a fun game, highly recommended.

Very fun 2-7 player game.I like abstract games, and this one scratches that itch.Similar in style to Dixit, using artsy cards to try and convey a message to the other players. It was fun being the spirit giving out the cards and receiving them. Seemed to have outlasted Dixit as well, although afterany playthroighs we are starting to figure out which cards work best, so maybe the expansion would be a good idea. All in all, very fun game. Wish the instructions were a little better out together, but doesn't distract from my enjoyment.

This is such a great game, I have played a few times and all of the people we have played with have wanted to play again straight away. The set-up takes a bit of time the first time you play but after that it is very straightforward. The most enjoyable aspect is being able to work as a team and discuss the clues, or to play as the ghost for a completely different challenge. Great game & I would definite recommend. We also downloaded the 'soundtrack' and downloaded an app soundboard of spooky sounds which added to the atmosphere!

We bought this game after playing with some friends and it's awesome! Everyone we play with loves it but they always want to be the ghost next time which is a lot of fun. It takes between 45 minutes to an hour to play and is best played in a gloomy room with mystic music playing in the background (it really sets the scene). The game can be difficult at times and the setup is longer when you play it for the first time but once you get used to it then you can setup a lot faster. All in all a great game and highly recommended!

Brilliant game. Played 3 times in a row on day of opening then again the next day. Played 2 games on easy with 5 players then went straight for difficult with 6 players. Brilliant fun, challenging but not frustrating. Loved the team work element and just as fun to play both roles in the game. Elements of Cluedo and Dixit but also completely unique. I'd buy this in so many versions if they were available!
