I opted for this motherboard to pair up with my i5-4570 as I do not plan on doing any overclocking or SLI. The motherboard comes safely boxed in a classic MSI Gaming box along with the usual accessories and a nice black backplate with padding. The colour scheme of this board is very smart and subtle with a matte black look with hidden traces and only a tint of red. I like this two tone colour scheme and the understated look as it's not too blown out with too much red and it doesn't have random patches of gray like some other boards.I've populated the RAM slots with 4x 4GB of Samsung Green 1.35V DDR3 RAM and it's worked perfectly with them since day one without any tinkering.I have tried both AMD's R9 280X and Nvidia's GTX 750 Ti graphics cards and both performed as they should. For music, the Audio Boost feature is also rather good for speakers as I've compared my Edifier R1600T Plus speakers (2.0 bookshelf monitors) using the onboard sound and compared it with using a FiiO E10 USB DAC and I cannot hear much difference whereas I could before with my previous motherboard. However, for IEMs the Audio Boost is still not perfect as there is a bit of hiss with the onboard compared to the FiiO E10 but considering the FiiO E10 costs around 75% of what this is, the onboard audio does very good. I cannot mention the quality of the onboard sound for gaming or films as I do not have a home cinema system or surround sound setup. The isolated section dedicated to the Audio Boost feature is also lit up with a subtle red LED glow which gives off a very premium look. There are a total of 5x 4 pin fan headers, two of which you can control very finely for CPU (from 12.5 to 100% in 12.5% increments) and three of which you cannot control as finely (minimum of 50%).My only main gripe is that compared to the higher end (Gaming 5+) offerings, the USB3 header isn't at an right angle which will ruin a clean build.MSI's website has a very nice comparison of the different Gaming models of their motherboards and I feel for most people, this will be more than enough unless you're overclocking.Just to round off the review, I will list the rest of my components:Case: NZXT S340 with two stock case fans running on 50%CPU: Intel i5-4570 cooled via a fanless Cooler Master V8RAM: Samsung Green 16GB (4x 4GB)Storage: Samsung 830 512GB (2x 256GB)Graphics Card: PowerColor R9 280X TurboDuoPSU: Corsair CS650M (overkill)On a normal idle load the system draws around 40-50W at the wall and depending on the game I'm playing it will draw 100W-250W and benchmarks like 3DMark and Unigine or Furmark pushes it up to 300W at the wall. All in all, I'm very happy with the motherboard.

I purchased this to upgrade my rather dated Intel 775/Q6600 based system.I've fitted an Intel i5 4690K with 4Gb RAM, and windows (8.1), Elite: Dangerous, and Arma 3, all fly along very nicely now.Bad stuff first.1. It doesn't come supplied with header blocks for all the fiddly pins you need to connect from your case to the mobo (motherboard) - which means attaching all the tiny fly-leads inside the case (e.g. hdd indicator, power button, power-light, etc) is a royal (albeit one-time) pain.2. The mobo has only sata connectors for optical drives, so your older drives are now fully defunct and will need replacing. (Sata to IDE converters do exist, at about £10 - I've no experience if/how well they work, nor how congested they make your installation.)3. The big'ish blue heatsink sitting very close to the CPU socket can easily foul your cooler - it certainly prevents the Gelid Siberian Pro from fitting. (The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 fits very easily.)4. It doesn't come with any on-board headers-to-backplate expansions for (e.g.) USB connectors.5. The on-board audio is only stereo.6. The maximum memory speed is 1600.All of which mean you need to add on extra spend to make up for all these that effect you. I added a SoundBlaster Z (the same cost as the board), which actually sounds fantastic, and is well worth the money. But just be aware that this 'budget' board can end up as a false economy - so check what other 'more expensive' boards come with before you buy.Plus points:1. It's a slightly smaller form of the ATX board, which means fitting it into an ATX case is a breeze. NB it is afixed by only 6 screws, leaving the sata-ports a little unsupported, so be gentle!2. It has automatic (and manual) overclocking options available from the BIOS.3. It works well, with a reasonably clean BIOS interface - not that I've had to change much.4. Windows boots up very quickly, even without using MSI's Fast-Boot tech. You may be wondering why 4-stars at this point. Well 3 would be too low, whereas 3.5 feels about right.I find it tough to get excited about a mobo. This one does the job just fine.

Recieved the motherboard in nice packaging, it came with all the right drivers, a handy instruction manual and a few somewhat pointless cables. When it came to putting it in the case, I initially had trouble lining it up with the standoffs due to barely any of them lining up but I think that would go in a review for my case anyway. All the cables fitted in nicely as did the components, I didn't have to jam anything in or bend any pins. One concern though is the fact that my standard sized GTX 970 once inserted in the PCI-E slot completely covers up the other one making it unusable, so if you wanted a sound card for example you would be out of luck. I can just always buy a PCI network card and put it in that slot instead.BIOS is pretty standard, the utilities that come with the driver disk do pretty much nowt apart from slow down your startup and clog up your desktop, but all in all it's a good motherboard for the price. No technical issues as of yet.

Your standard mid-high end motherboard. Not much special or unique.I'd recommend making sure you know your dimensions, as this is a very large mATX board and may be too big depending on your case. It just narrowly fit in my Zalman T4.My only come are the placement of some headers. The USB3 port faces away from the board, for some reason, and so is fiddly to use. The same goes for the SATA ports. The second system fan header is also in an usual position (at the top right of the board). The first board I received bricked itself for a yet unknown reason, but Amazon were kind enough to send me a replacement.I'd recommend this board to those on a budget and in need of a board that supports XMP RAMprofiles.

This is an amazing motherboard if your looking to find a cheap motherboard that is good for gaming. It has all the ports you could need for a small PC. I will say I saw a review saying that the RAM slots are too close to your GPU if you have a modern and big GPU. I however, found that if you put the RAM in before in graphics card fits fine with no trouble. The graphics card I used was the GTX 970 from MSI and the RAM was 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance. Overall an outstanding component for a budget PC with all the ports and support you could wish for.

only 4 stars for this board as the first board delivered was defective and would not boot up I guess ram slot problem but saying that the replacement motherboard works fantastic with no problems the reason I have not given it a 5 star is the first motherboard being defective if I would have not got a gimpy board then it would have got 5 stars, my set up is intel i5 4460 msi h97 mb 16gb ddr3 sdram hyper fury x 1600 MHz asus gtx 950 gaming strix fx card and evga 650 psu. ssd win10.

board really is a nice bit of kit giving it 4 stars as im unsure if the usb ports are working or if my usb on my case is a dud as it connect then fails.the board is very well thought out and easy to cable manage not a fan of the side mounted usb ports that can get daunting but this is good for smaller cases or if your trying to keep wires down as you can essentially tie them down better.the board doesnt get too hot either thanks to the mosfets etc its doing its job well

Installed in a NAS chassis, along with a 4th gen haswell i3, adaptec raid card, 32gb ram, and some SSDsAs I have come to expect from MSI, it worked a dream first thing, without any issues whatsoever. some manufacturers (asrock etc) have a poor DOA rate, but to this date (since 1998) I have never seen an MSI board arrive faulty so they are thoroughly recommended as a manufacturerrecommended

Excellent motherboard. The only haswell matx motherboard I could find that has a displayport output. Currently using a 3 display setup with displayport chaining/mst via internal intel graphics.

Got everything that I want, I would rate 5star but the USB3 front socket is side-on and easily obscured by smaller cases, would be much better facing up. Same goes for the SATA sockets.

Pretty much the best budget board for 4th/5th gen 1150 Haswell processors. Ideal if you are not concerned with overclocking, and just want a well made, stable baseline for your build.

16.11.2015

Arrived fast and work as expected. MSI fast boot feature is great and boots super rapidly when using an SSD.

25.11.2015

Great board, easy set up with driver disk. Comes with 60 day Norton however the IO sheid is a bit tinny
