Bought this as part of my new pc build(specs/stats below)which is now running at light-speed with this Motherboard. Impressive bios with many advanced features in a simplified layout, like over clocking & tweaking etc(if that's your thing), idiot-proof bios updating which is a breeze, feels solid & well built, so far it's working flawlessly, I've updated the bios with the ASUS software that comes with it(Thermal Radar Core+, EZ Update), you can control fan speeds, check board & cpu temps etc. I honestly cannot find anything critical or negative to say about this board at all, if I found something I'd say so, it does more than what I expected & the performance is just absolutely reliably solid!.I've also noticed a significant reduction & improvement with my in-game M/s latency while online gaming on various games since I've installed this board.Definitely worth a look if you are thinking about an upgrade at a reasonable price. I'm well happy with it, Thumbs up for this board from me! :)For those that may be interested this is what I have & get with this mobo/build:My specs: Case: Antec-900, CPU: i7 [email protected] with a Corsair H80i V2 cooler, RAM: 2xCorsair 8Gb DDR4@3200Mhz, GPU: 1xEVGA GTX1070 8Gb Founders Edition, HDD: 1xSamsung EVO 850 SSD 500Gb & 2xSeagte 250Gb, 1xAsus DVD re-writer, PSU: OCZ-ZS750W-UK ZS Series 750W 80+ Bronze with 135mm Fan.My temps: CPU 29c idle&55c full-load, MOBO 19c idle&26c full-load, PCH 28c idle&35c full-load, G-card 26c idle&54c full-load. Nothing OC'd!(Full load is me playing Ghost Recon Wildlands 1920x1080@1080p Ultra specs/everything cranked up to the max to push the G-card,no lag at all!!)EDIT:10/4/17:I've noticed for my motherboard(above)that the BIOS version ASUS has on their website(&via the software)for download version 0906 causes system instability with my board, an OS initiated shutdown puts my PC into a state where for as long as power is connected the system will not boot back up(the fans come on,the monitor goes into standby), only on switching off at the wall or PSU switch then rebooting will the system boot, also removing my USB Sound-card then plugging back in causes an immediate BSOD, none of these issues occur in the previous BIOS 0801 version to which I've re-flashed this motherboard back to, I've contacted ASUS to alert them of this fault with their release & as yet have had no response other than a generic auto response, so be warned if flashing the bios, for now avoid 0906.

Fantastic board yet again from ASUS!This board feels premium high-end, and in relation to the entire range of Intel 1151 (Skylake and Kaby Lake) chipsets and boards available it certainly is high end, considering it's based on the mainstream flagship Z270 chipset. However, this board is really only mid-range in the ASUS line up, with the ROG boards considered their top tier, yet the Prime Z270-A is still an excellent board for the price point. It has all the essential features these days, such as SLI/CrossFire support, two NVMe M.2 in 4x PCIE mode, of which one is backwards compatible with SATA mode, and support for the higher echelons of DDR4 fequencies out there depending on how good your CPUs memory controller is.The board also has a few little touches in particular that I really liked, which I wouldn't have expected to find on this board , considering it's not a Strix or ROG product:-- Firstly, both Type-C and Type-A USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbit/s ports on the back panel. Some boards advertise USB 3.1 capability, but are actually referring to USB 3.1 Gen 1 which tops out at 5Gbit/s like USB 3.0 does. This board offers Gen 2 at 10Gbit/s.-- Secondly, there are physical switches on the board for enabling CPU over-voltage, and RAM XMP. These switches must be set to the 'on' position for the relevant settings to be selectable in the UEFI. There is also the 'MemOK" function, which is very useful for compatibility with certain RAM modules.-- Finally, the board has Aura RGB support built-in which is nice, even though I'm not on the RGB train yet. I know, I'm missing out on crucial FPS without it, but I'll survive! The system I built with this board was a breeze to get up and running, and the legendary ASUS UEFI BIOS had a lot to do with that! I got my 7700K clocked to 5.2Ghz at around 1.355v, with my RAM running at 3200Mhz fully stable over a 48 hour stress test. It was so easy with this board! I could have pushed the CPU even further, as it still has some headroom. I think 5.2Ghz is perfectly fine for now though, that's a crazy clock speed, and more than I expected. An all round excellent board at an excellent price. It does lack some of the bells and whistles that ROG boards offer, but if you can live without those, then you won't regret your purchase!

This motherboard is pretty good, especially for the price, and I wouldn't repeat all positive things since there were plenty of detailed reviews on it already. However I want you to be aware of limitations of the "smart fan control" on this motherboard, especially if you consider buying it for that feature. On paper, it looks great - several sensors, several DC/PWM headers, ability to choose temperature source (and even several sources) and set your own curve. Most powerful, right? Not quite so.First of all, for whatever bizarre reason, there are arbitrary restrictions on which temperature sources some headers can use. E.g. want your pump header to be controlled by external liquid temperature sensor?Tough luck, ASUS decided it only allowed to be controlled by CPU temperature. Want to be able to switch CPU fan off on low load for silent computer? Tough luck, ASUS decided this should not be allowed. And most ridiculously, ASUS decided that 75C should be maximum temperature allowed for fan curve points. You heard that right, 75 degrees Celsius top - its impossible to move fan "maximum point" higher than that. As a consequence, your fan will be spinning either at 100% past that, or will be hard-clamped below maximum at that.So basically you are forced to use something like Speedfan or Argus monitor third-party software just to go around Asus shoddy programming.Oh, and also fan ramp up-down delays do not work. They simply delay fan speed change, but do not smooth it - hence you will get very "jittery" fan going on and off especially with Kaby Lake K which are well known for spiking temperatures >70C even on moderate "web surfing" loads (made worse since you will have to have fan at 100% just at 75C - well below its allowed max temperature of 100C).I have seen multitude of people complaining about this on ASUS forums (apparently this 75C restriction was here for years), and ASUS was completely stonewalling the issue. I reckon its too hard for them to fix and set sensible limit like 100C on Gigabyte or MSI boards, or they just don't care about image of their "enthusiast" brand.Just keep that in mind.

Great motherboard, looks good without too many RGBs on it making it look like a raving clown is attacking your PC. Great amount of USBs etc at the back and onboard sound drivers etc. My NZXT x62 cooler looks good on it too but I think the tubes are blocking one of my ram slots - haven't tried that yet. Most watercoolers have the tubes coming out from the right hand side of the pump on the CPU so Asus should have thought of that and let the end user have a bit more maneuverabilty. For the time my 2x8GB RAMs fit in nicely though on the right channels. (see photo)Another really minor thing is that the Strix badge is sort of hidden by my graphics card (GTX 1070 Strix 8G)but I don't mind but I got a pc case with a transparent side panel to be able to see my nice PC :PAlso the Aura sync does not seem to work properly with my graphics card but I might be doing something wrong myself too. Will look into it later.

I've been searching for a decent motherboard that will support 7700X family of CPUs. However I only really see boards with 4 dimms on but only dual channel. Say I put 2x8gb in, (which I'm assuming I can overclock to the 4000mhz+.) What does that mean for any additional RAM sticks I put in ( say 2 more 8gb sticks. Will it cause problems or will they just match the 1st 2 RAM sticks. I always thought that quad channel would run faster. I.e. 4x8gb in a quad channel board. I don't quite understand how this works so if someone could just let me know, I would be very grateful. Oh and also where the hell do I find these motherboards on amazon as I'm certain I seen them the other day.The motherboard I am after should ideally have space for 2 1080TI's. Just one at first but then incase I decide to upgrade later

Decent board, got it for my Kaby lake 7600k i5. The board is slightly shorter than normal ATX but still uses the same standoff holes, just only the left 4. Auto overclocking works really good, simply tell if what type of cooler you have and then it does it, or you can just manually overclock. Comes with little LEDS on the board on the left side which are ORANGE/YELLOW and cannot change colour, can be turned on in the BIOS.Only thing I have which is weird is that when it powers on, it then power off immediately and re powers on about 3 seconds later and all is well, no idea what this is but apparently it might be the board checking the voltage is all correct before properly turning on?

I don't know what people are saying about being a pain to do a BIOS update or having problems with an i7 7700K out of the box? I wrote to Asus and asked whether it does come supporting the mentioned chip out of the box regardless of bios version and they confirmed that it did. So I bought it and I'm glad I did. It's a great board and love the RGB lighting too. As for updating the BIOS - I've never done that to a motherboard before in my life but I went into Asus site, downloaded it to USB and updated it no problem. Quick, simple, first time. So this has been a great no hassle buy and build for me and I'm sure it will be for you too.

It says its TUF. well i physically compared with a MSI Z270 and an ASROCK Z270 and and ASROCK Z170 on a recent build. Thee TUF won. The bios worked first first time with resulting hard SSD/HDD foul ups. The EUFI is nicer to work with. I was not interested in all flashing LEDS aor pretty colours. I had a Phanteks Ethoo Primo Tower Black and white themed case. It fitted well. Although having said that. the so called standard size was slightly small on the width. One of the standard rear placement screws support would not line up .But not a major problem. I have used ASUS before and no doubt I will use again.

I wanted a Z270 chipset in a mATX form. The options are pretty limited but this has all the features I needed and more. You are paying top dollar and a much cheaper option could be worth considering depending on your use case. Also, there are very minor differences between the Z270 and Z170 chipsets so do your research and again you could save money to spend elsewhere on your machine.Either way, I am very satisfied with what I got. Happy customer. As an aside, the LevelOneTechs youtube channel have a comprehensive video on this motherboard which should satisfy almost any questions you could have.

Very nice looking motherboard bought for a cheap price with a Intel i7 7700k cpu, compared to some websites and as seen as it was prime aswell meant that i recieved my product the next day with free uk delivery. Only thing im not so keen on is that the RGB ROG eye logo wont really show up if you have a bulky graphics card. I have a EVGA gtx 970 FTW+ which is quite a big card so i cant really see the lights which isnt that bad for me as i have a seperate lighting system.Would recommend to someone who is looking a cheap motherboard which is very good for overclockability

Definitely great motherboard, having 2 M.2 sockets for new SSD drives, with Wi-Fi module and antenna INCLUDED (yay no more wi-fi dongles), and has enough space for an SLI setup for the new 1080 cards..Although with SLI, it's pretty much impossible to fit any additional PCI device such as non-standard music card (Xonar etc.). The built-in audio card is fortunately good enough for non-audiophiles... The quality of sound actually surprised me.Then again, with a price like the great overall quality is not surprising, but definitely deserves praise.

I have always been a fan of ASUS motherboard since getting my first one in 1998. But this is my first foray into UEFI.The layout of the UEFI seems alien to me compared to the legacy BIOS, but it is easy enough to navigate through. There are section for RAM, CPU, fan controller and Boot sequence. As of performance, it is good so far, though not a real heavy gamer, my main reason for getting this motherboard is the CPU and my work type, which is video rendering and other types of creative works that need a good solid motherboard

THIS ISN'T A STANDARD ATX SIZE.The ASUS website it says ATX formfactor 12.0 inch x 9.2 inch.Standard ATX is 12.0 inch x 9.6 inch, so it is a unique motherboard size.I am fortunate that my case came with movable motherboard spacers.Other than the sizing I can honestly say having used this board for 10 Months now ,with my i5-7600k overclocked to 4.8GHz with a Coolermaster 212x Air cooler, it has been superb with plenty of USB slots and brilliant BIOS. GTX 1080 has been fitted since the photo. Strong durable board.

Two RGB headers is nice, but they are not individually addressable. The AURA software will read them as one header, so if you have two RGB fans, they will both display the same colour at the same time.I love the more subtle look to this board, I wish the chipset had RGB LEDS too, but I suppose this is something you have to pay more money for on a higher end motherboard. The only other issue is sometimes AURA or the fan settings get lost, but this might be my own fault. The WIFI is excellent.
